Xperia Z1′s first firmware update rolls out (14.1.G.1.531)

Xperia Z1_14.1.G.1.531_1A new firmware update has started to roll out to the Sony Xperia Z1, which has just been released in the last few days across many countries. The firmware version number moves from the current build of 14.1.G.1.518 to build number 14.1.G.1.531. No noticeable changes have been found, so it’s likely a bug/performance update. The ’531′ update is currently hitting HSPA+ handsets (C6902) in India, but should see a wider rollout shortly.

They still have the problem on 960X?

  • knightpt

What sort of battery drain did you have ? on standby?

  • the_black_dragon

There are two annoying bugs in current Z1 Firmware…
the shipped premium Headset controll Buttons are wrongly mapped to the device.. LiveKey Button does not work and Volume and control button Triggers live key Action on phone… on Xperia Z it works fine
and the orther one is a bug in camera. if fast shoot mode is active and you use the Hardware camera button EVERY Picture is shot as a fast capture Picture with seperate Folder instead of a normal shot.
    hope both will be fixed

  • nlf

    i have no problem

  • @atWidget

Nobody for telling if it fix bootloader problem with camera when we unlock ?????

  • Micro

    Try this:
if you had a paired BT device active and connected (i.e. BT handsfree) in the same time when you restart/turn on the phone, it will hang for several
minutes on bootloader, and if you are patient enough it’ll eventually start booting but you will not be able totur off the backlight (even with power button). However if you try to toggle “optimized backlight” in settings, you’ll kill the light (SOD like) and you won’t get it back till the reboot (with flashlight close to the screen and rebooting, or simply by hard reset).

    “Works” every single time.

Just charging mine and waiting for the sim to swop over. Smartwatch2 has been claimed though!

  • lovebmw

This is what you get when you don’t have too many fragmentation stupid useless phones. they only announced a Z1, Expect quality service as now they concentrate their efforts on 1 phone instead of 6 like last year.

  • Dakota

Adhfjsfaljshfglksdgf can we just get an update for the Xperia T, please? Is that too much to ask? I really don’t think so.

I tried to update my Z1 from the Bridge for Mac application. It got a quarter of the way through and then failed. Following this my phone lost connection to the computer (despite still being plugged in via the USB slot) and the Bridge app has not been able to locate the phone since. I have charged it, used different usb cables, tried reseting it, etc, etc but nothing will work. All that happens is the red light appears, it then goes off and now and again the Sony logo will appear on my phone and it says on the screen “The software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again.”

  • Micro

    Guys guys guys!!!

I reported this to the support, they just told me “there’s an update rolling out” in conclusion to this problem (I’ve found a bug actually).
So it seems this update is not the only update out… :)

For all z1 users. Do this device got the aptx tech. For bluetooth headsets. And what are your opinions on the night shot from the camera. Are they bad as GSMarena says or not. Please be fair and not biased. Thanks people

Do you have issues with camera focus in low light conditions? Camera won’t get proper focus on the subject.

  • the_black_dragon

some Sony Headsets have a “LiveKey” it is a button where you can assign different Actions depending on multiple presses eg. Shooting a Picture or starting Radio or whatever… and there is something wrong on all Xperia Z1… live key does not work and ALL other controll Buttons (call button and volume) are recognized as LiveKey Buttons.

  • James

The upddate was due to system crash, and screen light going out, so screen was almost black.

  • micropizza

This 14.1.G.1.531 update has removed the “GSM Only” option from Mobile Network Settings. The signal is so crap around my area, that without this option turned on, my phone will regularly go into “No Service” mode. Why have they removed it?

After some googling I can still turn on “GSM Only” by using this code in the dialler: *#*#4636#*#* but it doesn’t remember the setting for long, and just reverts back to struggling to connect to 3G and putting my phone into “No Service” all the time.

The amount of calls I’ve missed and texts I have to keep “Retry” sending since this update removed “GSM Only” is a nightmare! Is there any way to roll-back to before the update?
