‘Xperia G’ live picture leaked

by XB on 14th February 2014

in Rumours, Xperia M2

Xperia GThe picture you see before you is the Xperia G according to @ViziLeaks. The actual leaked phone is the phone sitting underneath the Xperia Z1 from what we can tell. So this may be a 4.6-inch handset or perhaps a 5-inch model in a smaller frame. This leaked handset seems to have a plastic frame, which would place it as a mid-range model.

Earlier this week we saw the Sony D5103 model number leak, with specifications very similar to that of the Motorola Moto G. If the Xperia G name sticks, could Sony be signifying that this is a direct challenger to the Moto G? If so, it’s quite a ballsy move, especially considering the Moto G probably offers the best value Android phone on the market today. We’ll bring you more news as we have it.

Xperia G

I don’t think Sony will ever go that low on price with those specs (related to Moto G mentioned in Google+ post)…

  • DrazenDodig

I doubt it has anything to do with Moto G, as it doesnt even sell in most markets where Xperia sells…

  • looks

Sony rushing those devices out like they want to get rid of them….

The new HTC is born hope their strategy fails

  • XperiaBlog

It may not indeed, Sony still has some spare alphabet letters to use up we suppose…

  • XperiaBlog

Even if Sony wanted to try and match the Moto G price, we just don’t think they’d have the scale to do so.

  • michele massaro

Moto G specs are not very high, strictly on specs Xperia SP is better and it costs just 40€ more than 16GB Moto G. MotoG offers a better experience than SP just because of SW optimization and updated SW.
Sony won’t go so low on price for this device, but offering expandable memory (I see the slot in the photo) and probably a better design (imho), IF they used the same display of Xperia Z1 Compact (720p Triluminos IPS) and at least 1,5GB of RAM, they could sell it even at a price 30% higher than the Moto G.

Coming soon from Xperia: B,D,F,H,I,K,N,O,Q,R,W,Y. :D

  • Abhimanyu

This is likely to be the successor of Xperia L. Xperia SP’s successor is more likely to have a better CPU and GPU.

  • Tim Vels

I hope this comes out well, and the price as well. As they price it sky high when they release it

  • Wafflefactory

I don’t think sony is stupid enough to have a name that already exist! As always Sony always make different things oh wait did i mention different thing? If it is so, Sony will probably name it after Moto g like none other manufacture has ever done before…

  • Tim Vels

An SP v2 would be better I reckon. It would be very nice as a mid-ranger.

  • xperiaDROID

How is that stupid, and how is that taking a name that already exist? Based on your logic, it should be Motorola and Sony took LG’s name then, LG G series.

I don’t think using an alphabet (for example, G) is considered “taking a name” from other manufacturer.

  • Vwscirocco

    Or the successor of ZL

  • haha

    Xperia W-windows phone…:p

  • xxx

    xperia R sounds cool tho

  • JARVAN IV

But still Xperia “Z” is the best

  • boosook

The ZL was a flagship, this is a mid-ranger.

” especially considering the Moto G probably offers the best value Android phone on the market today”

no , it’s not the best …..if it’s not available to me in my country

unlike “xperia g”…it will be available soon

  • kidy973

    Waiting for K

  • Aaron

    Soon.

  • kidy973

Too bad, as big as Z1. Moto G is most compact. And a smaller screen than 5″ means bigger bezel so it will have a lower PPI.

  • lucasarg

    WALKMAN -_-

  • [A]dri[A]n

If the specs and price are right. I’m so getting this :)

  • Bob

Haha ‘5″ display in a compact frame’
You mean 4 inch with MASSIVE BEZELS :p

  • Kaloyskie

Don’t forget the Xperia Ñ! Mother of all flagships and most likely won’t phase out in 10 yrs from its release. That I will wait. LOL

  • m sacha

sony xperias with the same design?

Yep. Sony should just do one flagship, mid range, and value phone per year. limit themselves to just 3 to 4 new phones per year and not this 6 month crap. There is really no need for a Z2 to come out so soon after the Z1, perfect that software and hardware first. The only reason I see for the Z2 is because of the publicity the Z1 got for viewing angles and such so the screen better be much improved. As of now the so called “Sirius” offers no reason to upgrade as it is.

Seriously, if nobody mentioned about Motoroloa I really thought it was long dead… we hardly see any Motorola cells around here….

  • Bryan Ng

But as far as I know Sony is a unique company they always do something different in a special way and sony is not a copycat. So in my thought Sony wouldn’t be that not creative enough to take a name that already exist. In my way of saying stupid = no idea aka copycat.

  • toga

Copy of moto g name! Sony can never beat motorola in software and hardware optimisation. Moto g is currently running kitkat and non of the xperia device even flagships is running kitkat and software support of sony is a disaster like i seen in xperia sp,t,tx,v etc
