Dual-SIM variant of new Sony Xperia model passes FCC

in Rumours

Xperia Z4 Dual_FCC_2The Xperia Z3 (D66XX) was the first flagship from Sony to launch with dual-SIM support outside of Asia. The Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) even launched in selective European countries such as Poland, which had not happened before. Well there is a chance that this continues with the Xperia Z4.

Newly released FCC documents highlight a variant of, what could be, the Xperia Z4 that will come with dual-SIM support. Text confirms that the previous model to pass through the FCC with type number PM-0850-BV will be a single SIM model, whilst the PM-0851-BV will have dual-SIM capability. This model comes with firmware build number 25.0.B.0.35 (the single-SIM version had build number 25.0.A.0.33). There doesn’t appear to be any other info, but with a MWC reveal in around six weeks time, there are bound to be more leaks to come.

Sony model PY7-PM0851 will arrive with dual-SIM support

Update: It looks like models PM-0852-BV and PM-0855-BV will also support dual SIMs.

  • Emir Zarith

  • apolloa

Which part of my comment is so soon? Because the Z3 compact phone is. Ow several months old and it will be about a year before the Z4 Compact phone is on sale.
Or is it so soon for my tablet to have a dead pixel, to which I agree.

they should increase their flagship launch period from 6 months to 9 months .

  • hot-Name

I think also. they won’t release Lollipop before the z4.

  • Zidhin Mohd

Keep the price low… Z2 and z3 had a price of 49000rs at the start… I think that should be reduced…

Hey Sony, can we have an OFFICIAL Xperia Korean keyboard for the Z4?

I still don’t understand why there is no official Korean input for text. Why the discrimination?

Personally, I would merge the Xperia Chinese keyboard and Japanese keyboard to the International keyboard, and include Korean language support to that too.

  • Ding

Flagship phones with premium parts (especially the newly released ones) are never cheap. Don’t be a cheapskate.

If you can’t afford it because you come from a third world country, then get the Xperia E-series or C-series phones. Those are more budget friendly.

  • ”such as Poland” goosebumps ^^

I use a z2..bought it at the release time.. Feeling a bit sad coz the price is way low coz of the 6 month cycle

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

I doubt the Z4 will have a compact version, especially if they do have a Ultra version. It world be too soon for Compact device. I have a Z3 Compact, and it’s great, but as great as it is we sometimes forget it’s not “the flagship”.

I’m hoping the Z4 Ultra or whatever it’s going to be called, has some new software that takes advantage of such a large screen. I might get some heat for this but Samsung is one of the only. OEMs to take full advantage and really pioneer large screen phones. The Note series is really their flagships, and Sony should take some pointers. Stylus on a large screen makes a difference, add in great software and the Z4 Ultra could be a great phablet.

Low comment quality from junk poster.

They announced the Z3 and Z3 Compact at the same time at IFA last year, so their is no reason to believe they won’t announce a Z4 Compact at the exact same time they announced the Z4, if they announce it at MWC.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Yes there is. The compact line isn’t a flagship, meaning it is not on a 6 months cycle. Sony wouldn’t release a flagship, and large screen version just to release a smaller compact one.

One thing’s for sure though, once the Z4 gets released, its software (Lollipop) will follow suit albeit in the following months on older devices… Such as my Z1.

Timel why don’t you go hump Chuck Norris’s behind and then lovely and dovely talk about Samsung and Apple with him? After are you are both destined to be behind each other :D Besides, you both have low quality tastes apparently, should go good together! Something ‘we’ wouldn’t understand at all because we aren’t using the 2 aforementioned brands!

  • apolloa

Kind left hand side near the centre line about a third if the way up. Will check it later as I left it at home running one of those dead pixel repair apps.

  • apolloa

The compact line IS a flagship device because it’s pretty expensive and is pretty much the ONLY small Android handset with top end specifications. The Xperia Z range is Sony’s flagship range of mobile devices.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

It’s $400 cheaper than the Z3, and it’s not a flagship. If it was there would have been one every 6 months. No Z4 Compact at MWC 2015

  • apolloa

I’ll say again, the Sony Xperia Z range IS the Sony Flagship range of mobile devices and here in the UK the Z3 Compact is £120 less than the Z3 which converted is no where near $400, it’s $180 and that would include tax.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Because the ZR is a flagship too huh? It may carry the Z, but it’s not a flagship. Sony releases a flagship every 6 months, and we seem to be missing a Z2 Compact. There is only one flagship device, not a whole line of them. The Z3 is the current flagship but when the Z4 comes out that will be the flagship

  • apolloa

If that’s what you want to believe, and I guess you missed the part where Sony stated it is not going to release too end phones every 6 months anymore? I think plenty of Z3 Compact owners would tell you its high end as would Sony. We’ll find out in March.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

First off, I’m didn’t say the Z3 Compact or the compact line wasn’t good, it’s simply not a “flagship.” I have the Z3 and Z3 Compact and they’re great.

And the whole thing about stopping the 6 month cycle wasn’t confirmed. And it wasn’t confirmed way back when the Z1 and Z1 Compact was released, meaning if it was a flagship we would have seen a Z2 Compact.

The Z line is a family of products that bare a close resemblance to one another. It doesn’t mean everything in it is a flagship.

  • Disregard Constabulary

the compact versions always skip a generation

z1 compact, no z2 compact, z3 compact, no z4 compact, so next compact will be z5. or maybe sony will surprise everyone but i doubt it

z1c/z3c are high end not flagships
