I dont care too much about 5.0, my z3compact is smooth with kitkat, also, if they can bring a flawless update with almost no bugs, fine for me

  • i love lollipop

no information on battery improvement and camera improvement.
i do not know if it’s only me who is having battery problem on 4.4.4
i hope this update brings more stability on our devices. because that all matters. A STABLE UPDATE

Er..I check their facebook post, nothing say about lolipop update , when this post posting in their page?

  • Constantine

    Who knows…

  • serendipity1002

I think lollipop would bring much needed battery improvement, cm12 allows longer use than stock 4.4.4 on my average ZU’s battery. So combined with Sony’s own technology (ultra stamina and stuff), hopefully battery life’s gonna be noticeably better

  • tjtkdtjr

The first column means week number. So week 12 means a week that starts 16, March and ends 22, March.

  • poenyaku

    check their notes…

  • tmnd

Lolipop’s VOLTA exists as Stamina mode in our Xperia

So I doubt you’ll see major improvements there …

no sooner had 5.0 rolled out than ppl will be clamoring for 5.1. sony ericsson and then sony mobile has shown itself falling behind in this area since the very first xperia (x10). i recall the x10 was released with android 1.6 eclair out of the box when others had 2.1 gingerbread. x10 customers yelled and yowled before they got the final gb 2.3, then that’s it. moving on to the xperia S (still my favorite)–here’s where sony disappointed their customers. it shipped with a geriatric 2.3 gingerbread (not to mention the defective yellowish cast of the S display) when the rest of the mobile world was doing 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich. xperia S got its final jellybean 4.1 update in 2013…when everybody else was doing higher versions of jellybean (4.2 and 4.3). sony always LATE and a grumpy provider of software updates.

  • KJ Marway

Perhaps, but this photo shows us a Sony Logo that has ‘make.believe’ as the slogan (which has seen since been replaced by ‘Be Moved’.

I question the authenticity based on this, however, it may also be likely that this is legitimate, but on an outdated template.

  • MasterYoda

of course it’s always someone else responsible!
thinking that it could be one of your odd apps draining the battery.. just impossible..

  • BillytheKid?

    1.6 eclair?? 2.1 gingerbread?? You’re drunk, go home…

  • Type of xperia ‘dimiliki’ :p

Only Malaysian, Indonesian and Brunei understand. :D

  • Skystorm27

    Indo maybe :p

  • MarkG54321

Just installed android 5.1 on my phone. #sonyfailagain

  • Snorky112

dont forget that sony on gingerbread already had all the new stuff that came out with ICS, sony is always a step forward, no matter the number, just look at themes, sony had themes since 4.0 and other manufacturers (samsung, HTC) only have this since the latest update (lollipop), just dont look at the number of the update, look at what the phone has to offer, when android 6.0 will come out with small apps in stock Rom everyone will like them and we, sony users will laugh because we had them years ago, (also sony was firts to have multi user like in the new update (but on tablet only), and sony had HD voice too, don’t just look at the software number, our 4.4 is better than any other 5.1 update and our 5.1 will be better than any other OEM and stock 6.0 update

  • Ali Bach-Tobji

Can anyone paste the link of sony mobile indonesia facebook page

  • IshuZ2

i am using same apss which i was using before 4.4 update.

  • echomrg

i’ve been having battery problems on my Z3C too lately, after a little sleuthing i determined that the facebook app was the culprit (it was sucking up up to 40/50% of battery)

  • IshuZ2

i was also using these apps before. facebook and messenger on my Z2. but after uninstalling them then also there is battery drain problem.

  • echomrg

me too, i was using the same apps before, it just started draining a lot of power without any apparent reason. reinstalling didn’t help, i changed the notifications settings and it got a little better. now i’m back to normal, maybe it was something on facebook’s side or they simply updated the app.

i suggest you try some battery monitoring app if you haven’t already (i use GSAM Battery Monitor) to find out if there’s some app misbehaving.

Sony didn’t specify in their last announcement, they said for the “*entire* Z series”

  • zeoxzy

Apps to SD for me, would totally be worth the update alone.

  • Eduardo Otero

I meant that that picture wasn’t made by Sony in spite it has that logo trying to make us believe that and yeah that last picture that said 4.4 for Xperia SP and T was also posted on GSMArena and others pages which does not make it real at all.
Anyway that will be confirmed if Vodafone AU (or other operator) change the status of “awating software From Sony” to “testing software” on their blogs.
Remember it’s a couple weeks what Vodafone takes to test and roll out software because they release at the same time that Sony the updates and it is the time left til the week 12 (March 15).

Htc n others…hav better theme engine than sony..wen i gt 4.3 in my zl with new theme engine i was so happy.., but later it made no sense, so much restrictions in making theme,we had to root to change some elements and i hav upgraded to z3 from. Z2…and still i m like waiting for ages for update…and ppl say its better to wait to get bug free update….but i say no os is bug free u get one or other….its a program coded by human…and they ought to make mistake

samsung added the app to sd feature during kitkat days of the S5 due to the very limited storage left for the costumer to use. remember bloatwares? they ate all the memory and only around 5gb out of 16gb was left.

*correction 1.6 is Donut, 2.1 was Eclair. I remember my X10! What a great phone! It also skipped 2.2 Froyo. 2.3 Gingerbread was great.

  • Anatras

It’s fake. At the end of video you can see the lock screen from the old version. The lollipop lock screen is the same of nexus.

  • Fadi Obaya

Silly, week 12 begins Monday, next week.

  • shubham

irrelevant: here in India i see many Sony phones these days! not higher than Samsung’s! but definitely higher than previous years! may be it’s just me or you guys must have noticed as well.. i think Sony is improving on the sales and can see Sony stand on a respectable sales figures in coming years!

  • Sweggity

it’s better to have apps on the device memory… having on the sd card degrades the performance

  • how so it degrades??

  • Kaostheory

Lollipop supports raw, which means there will be more camera and post processing apps, even if Sonys software isn’t improved.

  • a.hamameh

I’ll believe it when I see it in Merica.

  • Reen

I really hope that they increased/fixed the Volume on the Z2. That´s, for me, the most important thing.
Any other changes like UI, ART, hopefully more fluid animations are second priority.

  • ?? ???

Finally! My 128 GB card will be so happy!

  • Lollipop supports RAW if the device has the firmware capabilities to do so. Nothing guarantees that Sony will support it on the Z3 or any released phone. Most makers didn’t add RAW support on already-released phones.

But 16(11 actually)G internal storage is just not enough for my Z1.

  • a.hamameh

The website available in the screenshot above

  • Kaostheory

True but if anyone is going to I’d bet on Sony. They’ve been pretty good in the past for supporting these types of things.

  • The Flash

The first thing I do when I get a new android phone is downlaod greenify, and add facebook and snapchat to the list. Facebook is evil, and snapchat seems to have a GPS bug where it keeps the gps on even if you turn off Location in your settings.

  • poenyaku
  • I agree with you on this point. And I’ll sure be happy to have access to RAW files from my phone. But just remember it’s not yet given.

  • Doubleyoupee

Meanwhile rest of world is already looking at 5.1.

  • Sanket Srimany

LOL.. That made my day :D

  • ash

    they have 4g as well

  • ash

if that will look different, wil it make you happy?

  • DBS

“Inspired by the design of Google and the expertise of Sony, every detail is very beautiful and interactive.”

Or very horrible and ill-conceived, as anyone with a minimum sense of good taste would say.

“Easy to install and transfer the application to the external SD card and enjoy the flexibility and higher performance”

they forgot the “we had already fixed this on KitKat for every phone EXCEPT our flagship devices. Because f*ck those people who paid 600€ for our phones”

I keep my intention of NOT updating to Lollipop’s horrible design. Not until someone fixes the crap Google and Sony made, from multitasking to notifications.

  • Ritwij

Not really a problem for high definition games when you’re using a high speed memory card. That is the main reason I’m looking forward to this feature.. Can’t install more than 2-3 games of size 2gb each.

  • 3rdflyleaf

    >Remove a feature
    >include it again in the next update
    >call it a new and improve feature
    > :D

  • Ritwij

Sony’s Lollipop is almost stock. It’s very likely they will not remove this feature.

  • Ritwij

    Me too.

  • It’s not a feature removal. It’s an optional, hardware-specific implementation.

  • 3rdflyleaf

I didn’t even update mine to the latest Kitkat because my current Kitkat is very stable.

The IMX220 in Z1/Z2/Z3 supports RAW image output and even IMX135 of Z supports that. Lollipop has given full support to developers by opening the camera API. So if Sony doesn’t let developers to use the camera as they want, it is a feature removal.

Telstra Australia is preparing release with ETA for release in April! Should be out to other countries sooner than that.

  • Aborto

The chances of the rom having anything to do with your battery problems are pretty much nil.
You will have an app wasting power, facebook, whatsapp, viber and the like are notorious for it. Google services are also frequently the cause but the rom really has close to no affect.

For most people 4.4.4 is perfectly stable and has excellent battery life, it is for me. Try using wakelock detector to search for the cause.

  • Taras Morales

    Dont know..share opinions

  • Aborto

You can only blame it on the rom if you still have the same issues after resetting the phone to defaults and running with no apps installed. Even then if it still has bad battery life with no clear cause I would blame a faulty battery before the extremely well tested rom that works perfectly for millions of other people.

  • Fafiq

He said that he have a bad internet connection in office so there’s even a problem with viewing photos on this forum. Maybe he will say more when he return to home.

  • kole?77

    it is fake

  • A RAW image being… well, the raw data of the sensor, saying that a specific sensor supports RAW is absolute nonsense. Sony needs to adapt the firmware and write a Camera2 implementation specific to this firmware. It’s not given, whether you like it or not.

  • lollipop

    I fucking hate you sony

  • yudha setya nugroho

if you have microSD card with UHS-I above 40MB/s , I think no longer time for load apps.. CMIIW

  • Kevin A. Koesoema

No, I guess…. because the newer OS(Lolllipop) will overwrite the previous OS(Kitkat) after we install it..

  • nick

Don’t say about that low notification,.Z3 has been boosted to notify and they f****d up the speakers totally….

  • Bassel

I love (LOVE) my personal Z3C, but damn the camera on the Xperia line is just bad. I owned the ZL, Z1 and now the Z3C, and I’ve given up hope. So Lollipop or not, my expectations are set very low. I just got a Samsung Note 4 through my work and the camera had me speechless on the first picture I took.

There is always hoping RAW support finally improves Sony’s camera on my Z3C.

  • Riyal

It won’t affect device boot time cause the system files are still on the internal storage. And for the longer load times that’s only true for big 3D games or low class microsd cards.

  • nick

Maybe rest of us will get in first week of april

Get a class10/UHS card and you’ll not face any issues. Finally my biggest disappointment from my Z2 has vanished with the aforementioned update.

Better to have option for people to choose where they want app to be. Having a full internal degrades the overall satisfactory.

Anyway my microSD is 80-90 MB/s almost same speed as internal so no prob.
