Z3+ still heating and no update to fix?

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Yayay let’s just roll to the other devices as well,
    Let’s hope we’ll get camera api2.

  • Nidou Xperia™

    how about Z3 D66XX ???
    must’ve been prior to Z3 C and Z3 tablet

Any news when the Xperia z4 tablet will see android 5.1.1? :)

  • Robson Kanyama

    Guys what’s new?

  • WilliamTell13

Nice! Let’s see some screenshots/videos/hear impressions! How are launcher redraws?

  • Mario Junior

F*** OFF SONY! LP 5.1.1 not coming with API2 support.

It is impressive that after all these users ask the support API2 still Sony just did not! It’s ridicolous!

  • raju

    Change log please

  • raju

    What changes? Ui

  • luigi

I’m not going to get a new sony smartphone soon!

  • Raj Singh

I hope this resolves the memory leak and lag issues with Lollipop.
Spotify always crashes when I’m using Chrome on my Android 5.0.2 device.
Launcher redraw is also unpleasant to see.

  • Esteban Jaramillo Bolivar

=( …. i was looking forward into this. what a shame, really.

  • Mario Junior

This is my first and last unit of Sony. Company of this type that does not value the feedback from consumers deserve to go bankrupt!

  • Fadi Obaya

Vet nog att det håller på att certifieras just nu.

  • Joe Black

    Downloading now for Z3C

  • Ça?atay

I found this changelog… But i’m not sure its true. Source:xda

  • Akand

lol. Pity for you. Wishing you a very enjoyable time with non Sony phone. However, RAW isn’t that much important for me. I don’t judge or be influenced by something that is not actually necessary for me.
Have you ever thought how many people actually use RAW feature? Most of the people cry for feature but very few people actually use them in real life.
However, it’s your personal taste. But I do believe, Sony is improving at a snail pace, but in the near future Sony is going to be the undoubtedly best phone for its most stable performance, elegant design and super durability. Marketing gimmicks are less prior thing to Sony and that’s why Sony won’t be able to bestseller though.

  • Why Sony didnot release Z3+ with 810 version 2.1 just like One Plus 2?

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

    It is version 2.1

  • Joe Black

    Okay, good riddance.
Go buy a Samsung flagship, then complain about the scratches you got on the phone out of the box. Or complain about the lag during simple tasks. Or you can even complain about the camera hardware inconsistency.

But sure, yea, Sony really sucks I mean. Not releasing Camera2 ‘yet’ probably means they’ll never realease it /sarcasm/. Great reason to dump Sony.

  • But I heard 2.1 does not heat up and at the same timeI read Z3+ users complaining about heat issues.

  • WilliamTell13

2.1 heats up pretty much just as much as the original 810

  • Joe Black

Get your facts straight before claiming Sony didn’t use v2.1

  • I asked. @chaturanagamanchanayake:disqus corrected me. Why creating fuss?

  • Ahaaan those were all false claim then.

  • WilliamTell13

Post some impressions/screenshots once it’s done installing please!

  • 2.1 does heat up, less than previous versions but still does. You can improve a flawed design but you can’t fix it completely without doing it all over again.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

It’s not all about shooting in RAW format, it’s all about user gets the control over the camera camera, as you know it’s always good to have more control over so you can adjust temperature white balance shutter speed many more, there are tons of apps which does the job very well. Even Nexus 5 supports camera api2. Here we’re still stuck with legacy mode.

  • David Wasp

Why do I smell Timel here?

  • Joe Black

Will do. In the morning from my office most likely

  • Chitti- The Robot

Yes , that entire 2.1 version thing is just gimmick. Z3+ has that so called 2.1 and changes nothing. Same goes with SD615 2.1 version. Heats up insanely.

  • Nick Digenis

Seems that they improved the auto mode in the camera!

  • Matt

Would be nice but not absolutely necessary. Nexus 5 is Google phone naturally it supports api 2

  • Joe Black

Supposedly Sony implemented the Lollipop memory leak problem in their 5.0.2 software. And the only issues I ever encountered in that area was while using Chrome. Chrome on Android is still the same piece of shit as it is on Windows, memory-use-wise.

  • Joe Black

    Quality-wise too?

  • It is chipset issues. Cannot be fixed with updates but it can be improved only

  • Abdul Ghani

whats needed in xperia is some good manual controls and very good auto mode because i want my phone to take good pictures and fast to capture the moment

  • Pingback: [Guida] Installare Android 5.1.1 su Xperia Z3 , Z3 Compact e Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact - Quelli che Telefonano()

  • David Wasp

Wow, Waiting for my Z3 Dual, btw what is baltic region?

  • Joe Black

    Basically Sweden, Norway,…

  • Abdul Ghani

    no idea

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Seriously, white balance is way off in SA.

  • Chitti- The Robot

For me, 5.0.2 didn’t give memory leak issue. Sony fixed it. Hope it natively got fixed in 5.1

  • David Wasp

It can be fixed, but only by underpowering the damn thing in the Z3+, no other option now, the required changes are actually physical but its not possible at this stage, so all they can do is clever software implementations to tame the damn thing, but mind you it will still be there.

  • David Wasp

Oh! Yeah they have software team there, of course it will start from there!

  • David Wasp

Any idea if it will increase the volume of the device, headphones sound underpowered on my Z3?

  • RHBH

If you want update you need buy Z3+, that’s how Sony works. Now Z3 users wait Z3+ get update. It’s always been this way.

  • Matt

    correction, “whats wanted”

  • Brayan Ramírez

It would be great if Sony release the 5.1 update for the rest of devices in the remaining days of the month, I know its nearly impossible but it would make me believe in Sony again

  • jrnr

If thats the case they should have not released a phone like that, if op2 scored 63k in antutu, z3+ also can.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Well you know when it comes to white balance and Sony don’t do very well, I mean if the camera wows us then it isn’t a big problem but here their superior auto mode or the camera sensor (imx 220) don’t wow us. Either Sony should have used imx 240 instead just like Samsung did, even apple does a good job on making better software regarding camera, I mean this company has the potential but it’s learning really really slowly. It’s like they’re asleep most of the time. They sure gotta wake up before they miss the train. I mean they’re almost there to lose what they have achieved. I mean Z3+ isn’t that bad but the SoC screwed them over. It’s all because of their stupid 6 months cycle.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Z3+ didn’t get the update yet, they released for Z3c and Z3 tablet compact

  • Andrew Erohin

    It always starts from there:)

  • Benchmark results not only depend on your chipset many other factors play an important role e.g. software optimization.

  • Umut Can Baday

    Owowowoowow that is goooooooooddddd

  • jrnr

    Hope they fix that,

  • lovebmw

As shocking that sounds, wow…. Yet I have to ruin it and say even Sony says you should have stayed with the z3 and not waste your money on z3 plus…. LOO L

  • lovebmw

They are, they are doing business wrong

  • nick sweden

so only for that u make belive for them again , :P very stupid argument :P s good that all phones gonna get it very soon or ?

  • nick sweden

    freaking damn awesome :)

  • Jecht_Sin

That’s Scandinavia. The baltic countries are usually intended as Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania. The ones in the short side of the Baltic sea.

  • lovebmw

Lol Sony banks z3 not the z3 plus lol

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Huh I didn’t get you. Z3+ is still running 5.0.2

  • Joe Black

Got a problem. Stuck on processing system.sin in Flashtool

    Solution anyone?

  • Sweggity

try again maybe… or just wait, make sure u r using original sony usb.

  • Joe Black

Tried 3 or 4 times, original Sony USB.
Not sure if it could be that I’m using Windows 10

  • Joe Black

Fiddled around the compatibility, set it to Win8, worked flawlessly.
    Updates later, or tommorow morning

  • Brayan Ramírez

You made a good point but, I wanted the firmware to come soon, so that way I could have more time to fully use it before I go to the school again :P

  • Mario Junior

Wow, there is only Samsung and Sony making Android devices in the world, is not it?

    Piss off.

  • Raj Singh

    Which phone are you using?
I have the Z Ultra on 5.0.2 and it’s buggy on a daily basis.

    Yes man!that s the point

  • Nuno

Very happy to see Sony deliver the software updates as promised, I think that the 5.1 will definitely help the Z series phones correct some issues and bring out a few new features, I honestly m just waiting for the HD Voice and VoLTE, these features will really be helpful. Hope to get it soon on my Xperia Z3+.

  • Alvin

Do you see your comment before you post that? Believe me you can’t resist a Sony phone

  • Alvin

I don’t know if I’m saying this right, but to me, their phone is already stable, not that stable, but it is better than most or even all manufacturers out there, design is already great for me, and durability-wise, it’s good. But they need to freakin improve their marketing and service centre.

  • Alvin

Yup, we want a proper superior auto which they said ‘superior’ where it should be called mediocre auto or inferior auto or something like that. We want to capture anything fast, by fast here i didn’t mean fast speed of capturing, but fast in terms of settings, modes, and scenes. We could miss every moment if we want to capture something but we have to set everything to he right.

And please, anyone here, can you all teach me how to use manual mode properly?

  • Alvin

Samsung phones got scratched out of the bix? For the lag thing i agreed, but camera hardware inconsistency? What is that?

Well i hate samsung and apple, but i love sony so much that i want improvements in everything, i should bash them until they respond to us

  • Alvin

Ummm….there are kazillions of them but both are the standouts to me

  • Alvin

Well…. Your phone could be new

  • Alvin

Why don’t they just make their own browser like the way it was before 2013? Their browser is one of the best in that time to me

  • Alvin

They turned their first priority to z3+ overheating first. Because many users complained about that thing, even the users are not the z3+ users itself, but they also complained about everything to make sony fix that thing

  • Alvin

So if they release the update today, and it is as buggy as sh** because they release it too soon. You’ll still believe in them?

  • Alvin

    Xiaomi will kill everyone…

  • Alvin

    Are you sincere?

  • Alvin

It’s like latvia or something else, you could search it on google :D

  • Alvin

    That is scandinavian countries :)

  • Alvin

I’m not into this science thing but if it heats but pretty badly, shouldn’t it be a good heat conductor?

  • Brayan Ramírez

I got a m2 so, I am not expecting a really optimized software, and I feel that I have waited to long even for the confirmation of lollipop.
Also I cannot unlock my bootloader if I could I would have flashed a custom rom

What about Xperia C3. is there any chances to get 5.1 for Xperia C3

  • Joe Black

I took Samsung for example dumbass, because it’s fairly obvious a fine statement would be made by pointing out flaws in Sony’s so-called biggest competitor, due to the sheer number of units sold.

    Dumbaas.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Bro metal is a good heat conductor not glass. Metal heats up fast and cools down fast too, and with HTC M9 the phone isn’t a water-resistant so they can add so much holes so the air can be exchanged, but Z3+ or other Zs are very well sealed so air exchange is minimal. So yeah.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Well first off I don’t think I’ll be going safari anytime soon but if the animal isn’t in a rush I think I might be adjusting, anyways I don’t take pics of pets etc. I look taking pics of different different sceneries. Anyways I’d be happy they just fixed the problem with white balance (which questions me if it’s software related or camera module related, they say imx 220 is really good but with time and software updates it

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

I don’t know how accurate the wiki article is but apparently LG G4 is using Sony imx234 and Sony has been using the same sensor for two years since Z1 and they moved to IMX230 with Z3+
Even Samsung uses IMX240 and does a better job, I can’t understand if it’s the sensor or poor software, VERY CONFUSING.

  • Kadek

What’s new apps is still in there.. lol

  • Joe Black

I got the 5.1.1 on my Z3C. A lot of bugs have been polished, awesome update

  • Alvin

My z3 didnt get it yet:(

  • KKTK

I just installed in and it is very stable – right :D

  • vov

WTF sony? This is my first and last sony mobile! (Z3 Dual), No active Dual sim. sometimes signal is down when answering calls :@ now about camera! I do not care RAW but, There is no Tap to focus (i do not want to use hardware button! an do not want tap to take pic!) there is no tap to exposure (this is the biggest MINUS!) Can not measure exposure automatically! Auto mode is horror! Fuck off Sony whit your crappy camera App! It is outdated! Is this so hard to use googles new camera api?

p.s. sorry for my bad English.

  • Killian Khoo

no tap focus, you retarded ?

  • Akand

Haven’t you heard that Samsung replaced Sony sensors with their own one without any statement. Don’t you think it’s a cheating? They did it to their S5, Note 4 and even to S6. You can’t use different hardware in same model without informing your customers. Simply Samsung cheated.

  • Akand

Of course it’s always good to have controlling features. But I think Sony is releasing 5.1 just to tackle criticisms. Because they are actually working hard on whole new UI. Maybe they are trying to amaze their loyal customers after giving a little sadness for a short time. And that’s why they just fixed some issues, named it 5.1 and released just to stay on the ground.
So maybe their whole new system will include the missing features. Hopefully.

  • ????????????

Meh, they should replace their mobile division team with people from SCE.

Got the update yesterday on my Z3C. After first 24hours, it seems very nice. Much smoother, everything seems snappier. I used to have constant home screen redraws with 5.0.2, hasn’t happened yet on 5.1.1. Finally the phone feels stabile and quick, like it is supposed to (and like it use to on KitKat). The sound control is very nice. Overall, I’m quite impressed. It’s a must for Lollipop users.

Only concerns are the Chrome crashes (maybe not the firmware problem, but it has happaned a few times), it seems like the memory leak (in Chrome?) that used to force homescreen redraws now causes Chrome to crash. I might be completely wrong of course.

The camera Auto mode, seems to produce better results – I really used to hate it. But I would love to be able to assign a different camera app to the shutter button (not happening, i know).

A guy with Xperia Z3 Compact with latest update of 5.1.1 couldn’t find any setting that allows user to enable VoLTE – I am waiting for that feature myself.

Did u update your Z3 compact to the 5.1 ??? I live in the US and still didnt get the update for my Z3 or Z2 . I flashed my Z3+ with Hong Kong Rom and got the icon to enable VoLTE but AT&T doesnt cover it in my area yet.

  • ACI

No I have not been offered an update yet. My phone’s firmware is IT(Italy) and Sony didn’t release it yet. There was one guy from US with Xperia Z3 Compact which was updated to 5.1.1 and I asked him to check for VoLTE switch of some sort and he showed me some pictures where that option didn’t exist. He had Arabic firmware. I am puzzled now, but will have to wait until my phone updates. By the way I am on T-Mobile.

    Hi
Today my Z1 updated to 5.1.1. no errors shown during update. MInor issue: dialpad numbers are much smaller, imho too small.
Major F.up: When camera is started, 1st shoot is OK with shutter sound. Photo is taken. Next
shoot is W/O shutter sound, just focus beep. Photo(s) are taken OK. If camera is closed than
opened again, camera doesn’t work any more, just black screen shows.
Only restart helps. So far I only tried to clear camera cache and restart and clearing dalvik cache, but no help. Phone is not rooted. Next step will be factory reset (Grrrr!)
    Any other suggestion?
    Regards
