It is not the name we would have chosen, but Google has gone with Android Nougat as the name of its next major Android version. There was plenty of speculation about what ‘N’ would end up being, with ‘Nutella’ getting a lot of love, but in the end Nougat won out.
Perhaps, there was licensing issues that couldn’t be worked out between Google and Ferrero (the owner of Nutella). Who knows? All we know is that we’re now curious to try some Nougat for real. Also, if someone can tell us the correct way to pronounce ‘nougat’ in the comments below it would be much appreciated.

Update: Google has confirmed that Nougat will be Android 7.0 in the following video description.
