  • Ferhat Dönmez
  • Judy Zik

thank Heavens. The previous update for the Z2 tablet was a dud. My Tablet wouldn’t fully charge anymore and I missed stamina mode. Sony support is almost non existent in Canada now. Too bad because I love their products.

  • Aloka Shashinath

What are the new features of this update?

  • Stanley Lu

Finally comes the fix for multitasking !

  • And probably fix that bugs that they always talking about on the Concept versions.
I hope the sound to be better when calling people and the screen rotate problems disappear with this update.

  • Samuel

    There it is.

  • Alvin

REALLY?????? Okay it’ll be the best firmware ever for z2/z3 series lol

  • Branko

Once again – the STAMINA mode in M is a rebranded L battery saver mode !

It has the same behaviour, settings and permanent notification – like the battery saver mode. Just beware and don’t fall for the BS if you like STAMINA. Doze is half-assed in M (will behave like STAMINA in N) and doesn’t offer same battery savings.

Will this update fix the camera issue? My z2 camera became trash after marshmallow update

  • Samuel

    I hope this works.

  • Yali AA

I’m not running 6.0…. there is no point since we don’t have a fully functioning firmware.
5.1.1 is still superior in my mind.

  • It Does :)

  • Razvan Cezar Berezenco

Come on Nordic Combined or Baltic Generic. Or can I flash any Customized version?! I have the Central Europe 4 as stock and I’m still at 5.1.1 because MM never came for it.

  • Enzo Jarata

True. I miss the old and original Stamina mode. It really optimises the battery unlike the new one which I think was a rebranded battery saver mode (it restricts the performance and minimizes the fps of the animations of the software and sometomes makes the phone looks laggy.)

  • Samuel

You were right. Now I have rooted/recovery installed on the new build, but I’m facing some problems with Link2SD and the second partition :(

  • edwin kurniawan

Any info on bluetooth stream stutter? Is it fixed here?

  • Ailan Hidaz

Well at least they haven’t abandoned the Z2, unlike other brands who have long given up on their older flagships :)

  • jumbo3220

It’s Live in Sri Lanka , just got the update

  • David Hvatov

So this turns out to be final update for Z2 ?

  • David Hvatov

Yeah. Im facing the same problem for my Z2 with 575 firmware.

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

    Looks like

  • TitaniusAngelsmith

But no camera 2 API support

  • Bernie

i still have my Z2 as a backup and will be updating it asap. Just hope that this fix the BT stream stutter issue.

  • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

    What was wrong with it?

  • Julian Bravo

But no camera 2 API support!!! Please support Manual Camera

  • Miguel Martins

Yes, you can install/flash any customized you want. Australia, Russia, USA are the best and recieve updates first. Just choose the model (i has to be your phone’s model) and flash it. I live in Brazil, but I use Customized USA, for me it’s the best and I get updates very fast.

  • Razvan Cezar Berezenco

Starting the Customized US firmware download. Thanks.

  • djfapples

Maybe the last update for my Xperia z2

  • Nice

  • SONY only
  • Dexter Moregan

Can move all apps to SD Card now. Thanks God!

  • Robcartoon

    Is there STAMINA mode?

  • Abdul Ghani

    tell me your not joking

  • Wolf0491

What makes it not fully functional? I’ve been using it months and can’t think of one thing not working?

  • Stanley Lu

You can barely switch between two apps without them being restarted…

  • No problems on my Z2 with multitasking… :/

  • Kabuto Kouji

wait a sec, i dont see anything for stamina mode and super stamina mode !! on this change log, could you confirm? i hope super stamina mode is back! please

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

    Tell us if it is

  • same with me :D

  • Kabuto Kouji

With this, my Z2 has officialy reached End of Support,
seems like ultra stamina is back too… correct me if im wrong..thats all i needed.
looking at Z3 Z5 and now the new X models, and still cant find a worthy succesor
thankyou Z2 !!! you were worth every spent mexican peso…. !!! (ToT)

  • Kariko

don’t expect too much on the stamina mode.. it’s just a renamed Battery Saver mode

  • hassan elachkar

Where did you get this picture from? I want to visit the website and see when goes live in my country

  • tong_its

nothing about the bluetooth streaming issue…

  • twm

Why is everybody being quiet about google calendar being removed to make room for Xperia calendar?

  • Luís Alberto Pérez

    You are joking, right?

  • Is ultra stamina mode included?
    Is the Bluetooth stuttering fixed?

  • John Walker

Who cares. Finaly we got stamina mode

  • Samuel

Its not a website, it is XperiFirm

  • Robcartoon

Both Stamina and Ultra Stamina mode have been reinstalled.

  • Micha? Qban Kubacki
  • I just updated. Stamina appears to be the same than MM, unless there’s something working different in the inside. There’s the charge optimization option, which I enabled to know how it will work. If says it will increase battery life in time, but daily capacity will be reduced. Stagefright test showed that I’m not vulnerable (may security patch). That’s all I know atm. Z3 here. It’s great to see how sony spoils us. I hope my next phone will be also sony, but right now I’m happy with my Z3.
Edit: Ota didn’t show any updates, but I connected the phone to Pc and xperia companion did the job.

  • My Z3 did suffer from terrible multitasking; I updated but don’t know yet if it’s fixed.

  • Aldi Wan Kenobi

I just updated my Z3Compact and yes, I can confirm there is Stamina Mode and Ultra Stamina Mode added to it.

  • Branko

Are you retarded ? It doesn’t behave as Stamina, but battery saver from L. So you didn’t “get stamina mode” dumbass.

  • Branko

Ultra Stamina behaves the same as on L, but Stamina is battery saver from L.

  • Aldi Wan Kenobi

I just updated my Z3 Compact using the Xperia Companion. It’s not mentioned in the list, but I can confirm that Stamina and Ultra Stamina battery modes are back!

    Thank you Sony Mobile!

  • Aldi Wan Kenobi

I hope they re-introduce purple….I am currently on my red Z3C right now…I want to upgrade, but I don’t like any of the colors they have in Z5 or the X-series.

This color should make a come back. It reminds me of the The Joker, I’d gladly choose this color as my next Xperia device. ;-)

  • David Horvath

was SO sad z5 got that light pink and no purple, the purple z3 is so awesome.

  • Raj Singh

    No update for SGP621 yet…

  • Benjamin Levy

They brought back the button to transfer all possible apps to the SD card? That would be wonderful. I tired of having to do that manually every time a bunch of apps update.

  • Kiss my e(lbows)
  • Yuen Lui

By the way, the problem may be caused by doze. Try to exclude the apps that reloads from battery saving, this may help.

  • jumbo3220

sorry for the late reply. yes both stamina and ultra stamina mode plus a charging optimization setting is added. but when reading the comments here on stamina mode in MM , makes me untrusted about it

  • Derek Wright

Great so this means till I buy a new phone stamina mode is lost forever. Thanks for confirming what I feared.

  • Mayank Trehan

Can anyone tell me if the freezing frame problem in Time Shift Video (slo-mo) recording has been solved in new firmware?

  • John Walker

Dont care. I dont use it anyway lol. It was always a gimick

  • Emil Oskarsson

Google messed things up for Sonys beloved stamina mode…. Why? :(

  • Emil Oskarsson

It’s not a gimmick, it made a huge difference when it comes to battery life on both my Xperia z and z4 tablet. Your argument is just stupid because you never tried it out for a longer period of time…

  • Olaf Duits

What!?!?!? WTF. Not fully functioning? What are you talking about? You prefer 5.1.1 over the 6.0.1 of Sony? Please, please, explain. Since there is totally no reason to stay on 5.1.1. 6.0 works more than fine and I have issues at all with it.

  • Parag Sant

When Xperia Xperia Z2 (D6502) will get this update??

  • Parag Sant

When Sony Xperia Z2 (D6502) will receive this update….how long we have to wait?

  • djfapples

Doze and stamina mode work together???

  • Alvin

    So how’s the multitasking/ram management??

  • Alvin

I’ve tried disabling some apps, but those apps reloaded like how it did before I exclude them.

  • Alvin

Yes, a gimmick that made my phone lasts for 2.5 days with 8 to 9 hours screen on time, 0% battery drain overnight, and no performance issues.

Sony battery management these days are just like others, not a stand out anymore

  • Kabuto Kouji

Thanks bro, pleas allow me one more question, what about move all apps to SD card at once, before this update i have to move one by one the apps, wich its fine to me but,if you update the app, it goes back to the internal memory, wich makes you to move them again one by one.. so its becoming tedious…
so my question again is: is the option to move them all at onece to the SD card back? thanks in advance.

  • John Walker

Not Sony’s fault. Its Googles fault coz they made doze

  • John Walker

Not Sony’s fault. Its Googles fault coz they made doze..

  • mike

that stupid STAMINA notification will be there forever in your lock screen and notification panel. stupid

  • thewhiterobedvirgin

guys how do i update my z2(D6503}???….. i tried pc companion too… its showing that d device is updated

  • My main apps are telegram, whatsapp, fb, chrome, kindle, outlook (not really games). I switched between them and chrome barely refresh the page I’m watching; Fb refreshes but remain in the position I left it (timeline or w/e it’s called). I even opened Sea Hero, the game, played it and switched to another app without even pausing (I kept it on background for more than 30 mins), came back to it and it was in the same position, not even paused; it didn’t restarted (i don’t know how heavy is that game). Went to chrome after that and didn’t refresh the website, everything smooth. The average free ram is from 1gb to 740mb (more on the 740mb with all of those apps open).

I think it has really improved a lot and is not a placebo effect. Anyway, I have to use the phone more and anyone else can confirm the enhancements.

  • Alvin

How about ram management? Is it really fixed?

  • Alvin

    Thanks mate!

  • mike

stupid SATAMIN notification will be there forever.

  • You’re welcome ñ_ñ

  • Aldi Wan Kenobi

I actually am doing this right now. I used the Transfer Data to SD Card feature in my newly upgraded Z3Compact. I am currently moving about 20 apps to the SD Card all at the same time, it’s about 1.22GB in size, almost done, about 91% complete already.

  • RedTears

Does this update fix the moundpoint issue of the SDCard?

When a SDCard ist presend, is disappears as soon as an USBOTG device is added as they both are using the same mount point.

  • Aditya Kadam

Its ok that they are taking care of bugs rapidly now BUT did they take care of Sound bug I found on my Xperia Z3 (D6653)? (X_Loud, HD Audio get disabled after updating to loliipop and Marshmallow and Sound quality was no way near to that of in Kitkat) Did they take care of it ?
That’s the reason, I downgraded back to Kitkat 4.4.

  • Niels d. G.

Where does it say that *officially* ?

  • I hope this update comes fast to other regions…

  • John Rambo

I don’t get it : why would you all voluntarily press a button(update) and get all these issues? A 5 sec Google search would have revealed all these bugs.
I m enjoying my blazingly fast white z2 4.4.4 with original Stamina, no Bluetooth/ wifi issues and all apps fully updated,as if I m running Nougat. How about u?

  • Edwardson Ramos

Truly Legit: Here’s I discover so far on new Software Updates

-Stamina Mode is back comes with more option
-Move all Apps to SD Card
-Batter Optimization for longer Life span
-A bit change color in Messaging and list view
    -Multitasking is fixed finally
    -More smoother than before

    Final Thoughts:
Very Satisfied do not hesitate to update your device, maybe this is the last update for z2

    Thanks a lot Sony!

  • khel guevarra

don’t have the update in the Philippines :(
    i’m waiting for it…

  • Edwardson Ramos

We have already, just update using PC Companion

  • Alvin

    I have more questions:

    1. Does multitasking feels like lollipop again or…?
    2. How does STAMINA work? Does MM’s stamina make your phone slow?
    3. does Soft Charging affects your phone’s battery life that much?
    4. Does the battery life improved, even just a bit, or just the same?
    5. Sometimes I noticed a tiny bit of lags on my Z3 with my current build (23.5.A.0.575), how about in that latest build?
    6. Are there any more bugs that you discovered?

  • Alvin

My country is one of the first country to receive these updates. So If I wanted to know how new updates perform, I have to update it for myself so I could know it. Some people might want to do the very same thing as you did but others are just curious…

  • Paulampastore1

    <<r:u. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????:::::::!!bx970a:….,….

  • Aomine Daiki

    1. No, way better
    2. Not yet fully tested, there is a new option which is percentage to organize your Stamina Mode
    3. Same anwert in Q2, but I guess it affect the battery power since it will not fully charge but the good side it will take longer the Battery life span (Hardware)
    4. Not yet fully tested
    5. I suggest to update your device using PC Companion than OTA
    6. Nothing so far

  • Alvin

Thanks, mate! Oh, and one more question, I heard that On body Detection in Smart Lock don’t work anymore, can you check that for me please…?

  • Aomine Daiki

I actually not using that feature, however, when I tried it maybe your right it doesn’t work

  • razorg

Can someone confirm whether the problem with “Double tap the screen to wake” feature is solved? My friend’s Z3C wakes up in his pocket, which means proximity sensor is not utilized to determine whether to let phone wake up in the pocket or not. The same behaviour is observed in my Z5C, if it’s solved for Z3C that means the fix is on the way to our Z5 series as well :)

  • Alvin

    Okay, thanks!

  • Battel

    The Walking Dead .

  • Abdul Ghani

where is that charging opt settings i dont see them on my z3 dual

  • About the phone -> status

  • EQ

Probably cause Samsung did some dirty play getting some deal with Google regarding power saving system for MM. That’s probably why Samsung had that missleading battery “benchmark” they did themselves where ofcourse their own phones won..

  • harryxixixixix

Thanks ….But sony said camera also improved …seriously I dont see any change in camera …..

    I’m aware of that :(

  • Emil Oskarsson

Yeah I know, funny thing is that the Galaxy s7 has the exact same battery life as the Xperia x performance and still reviewera say the Galaxy s7 have outstanding battery life while Xperia x Performance has a mediocre batterylife haha

  • Duncan Moon

Guys Will Xperia Z2 D6503 have an opportunity to get Android nougat ?

  • EQ

Sadly money talks as always. I’ve seen during the years how reviewers are sponsored or bought out. Samsung has been the “top dog” in this dirty business. They even have people registering on forums to downtalk competition and up their own products (“hit and run accounts”). And Sony mobiles have always been the target due to being of high quality and having several class leading features like battery system, camera and so on. You ever heared any reviewer say the IP67/IP68 classification of S5, S6 and S7 means the speakers gets permanently muted and damaged after a single dip due to no ‘vacuum’ chamber system like Xperia Z1+ series have? No.. and there’s a lot more that is not brought up.

  • Saiprasad Todankar

If you are still on old update then connect your usb to your mobile and run SONY COMPANION……

  • Saiprasad Todankar

  • Aomine Daiki

I would say the apps stability was improved cause the previous update crashes sometimes when used but rarely..In terms of cam output quality I think its the same.

  • harryxixixixix

thanks for reply…..yeah you are right …no change in camera …I dont understand..!!! They said new interface with stability !!! …strange …BTW please post if you see any differences between previous and present cam quality ..:)

  • Emil Oskarsson

That’s why it’s so funny to hear people complain about Sony phones when they are better in many ways than other manufacturers! Take the camera on the Galaxy s7 for example it SUCKS literally. Gets to high colour temperature on pics and doesn’t have any real detail when you zoom into the picture and it does always oversharpening the pictures! Looks like instagram filters all the time…

  • Kabuto Kouji

Z2 has reached eol dude, sorry to say it, but were lucky to get this last update!
    im happy with my z2

  • Kabuto Kouji

it doesnt bro, but i have no more hopes

  • EQ

Exactly! It really looks like a cheap digital camera. Chromatic aberration issues due to to much tonal contrast and sharpening and then you have the plastic look due to NR method. That DXOMark didn’t call this out is almost mindblowing. Litterally eye-bleeder photos it produces at low ISO levels with high detail frequency sceneries. My eyes hurt.

  • allan

Z3 will get android 7, then Z2 should to. Released same year and they have same specs.

  • djfapples

I believe this is the last update for z2,z3

  • allan

Z3 has developer preview of android 7, so i don’t think this is the last update for Z3.

    That is good

What do you brag on the new STAMINA? It is just a renamed Android standard power saving mode. Except Ultra STAMINA mode which is still the same.

  • John Walker

Fuck off. Nobody care what you think or what you know. Stamina is back. Deal with it Sony hater

  • Rat

Z1 also had Marshmallow preview but will never get the update. This is not just Sony, All manufacturers stop updating their old phones so that people would buy the newer ones.

  • Christo Paul

i have xperia Z2, & after this update-> 23.5.A.1.291, all the calls to my phone gets disconnected on its own. well i found the problem. its the battery optimization. jst switch it off & everything il be fine jst like b4. this can be found in Settings > About phone > Status > Battery optimization. Your phone will need to restart if you turn the feature off or on.

  • Adal

I update my xperia z2, but the launcher have problem on 4×4 widget.
How to report it to Sony? or have anyone already do so?

  • Kabuto Kouji

    Hi guys , stupid question:
Would someone please confirm if on the Xperia Z2 (D6503) 23.5.A.1.291 Singapore Generic software version, does it displays 4G or LTE???
thanks in Advance to whom may reply…

  • Kabuto Kouji

i understand but i would bet that Z2 is finished and i will not receive that

  • Kallol Bera

yeah, i just moved a whole gig of apps to SD card

  • Kallol Bera

Z2 stopped at marshmallow, Z3 may stop at Nougat

  • Kallol Bera

And I am running actual Nougat, preview build though!

  • djfapples

    I think both stop together

  • Bob

    Whats the security patch level?

  • Bobby

I have firmware 0.575 rooted on my z3 compact, will I loose root if I upgrade to this ?

  • Blackcat

not quite happy with the update, specifically i was looking forward to the stamina mode, but it looks like similar to the “BATTERY SAVER” which was there before in previous build. They only renamed it. Plus the battery icon of stamina mode stays constantly in notification area, it’s annoying, unlike previous stamina mode + icon which was inside the battery icon.

  • Ivan Tj

Hey guys, is it just me or do you think the volume on the z3 sounds very quiet especially when it’s half or less with this latest update?

  • Parag Sant

This is quite unfair that sony is not providing this update with other models. Previous 2 updates (.570 & .575) of 6.0 MM were given to all the models at same time Z2(D6503,& D6502).And they are provide this last 2 updates to all the models then why not this update?? I believe if beta version (.238) was also not given to sony Z2 (D6502) then may be this model will never get this latest update at all as this model is not 4G model. I am owner of this model and if this is the case then it is pretty disappointing.

All the owners of this specific model will get disappointed….So sad.

  • Sunil H

Anybody got this update in India???

  • John Walker

Good update. Battery lasts longer when stamina is on. Its better option than generic battery saver on previous build 575. Over night when on stamina batery drains 2 %on previous build 575 with generic battery saver it would go over 6 %
Or it is coz of soft charging option i dint know. And multitasking is much better. Good wirk sony

Rollout for Germany (Z3 Compact) has started yesterday. It includes the battery charging optimation feature as well as the modified Stamina mode.

I’ve checked it right after the update came in yesterday. The “Double tap the screen to wake” feature is still NOT SOLVED. The wakes up even if I hold a finger on the proximity sensor.

  • unal991 .

Yeah im really happy now I was very annoyed by that

  • Shesh

    Very Satisfied,
    Thanks a lot Sony!

  • You can see over here when new update comes to specific country/carrier.

  • Has anyone noticed if there’s a fix for GPS? My GPS hasn’t worked since the update to Marshmallow.

  • Ziggy

Update came through OTA today in Finland for both Z3 and Z3C.

  • Ziggy

Excellent! This really annoyed me the most with the first Marshmallow Z3C update!

  • Ziggy

Also it seems some of the Sony apps icons have changed after the update.

  • Christine Tiffany Smith

so will the menu list and homescreen auto rotate now?

This update drains my baterry twice as fast :// is there a way to roll it back?

  • John Jay

Finally, we are those last firmware of Z3 Dual that were updated to MM with this build, honestly I’m loving my almost 2 year old phone again, It feels it was revitalized again, with a few hiccups in update like sound and system UI crashes due to issues with the micro sd but addressed when the card was reformatted and few restarts. I did not do any software repair or refresh installation as it was laborious and a pain in customization, but overall I’m fairly satisfied, very stable, snappy, smooth, and responsive, in my case the battery greatly improved although I missed the Stamina we used to love, but this update has address so many fundamental bugs I experienced in lollipop, just their are some visual sores like the generic avatar of messaging which too colorful and the “search application” bar in the apps drawer is quite annoying it should have been translucent and I missed some of the chameleon in the notification bar. For me this is the best update since Kitkat.

  • ?????????? ?????

Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6683 Flash to D6633 Marshmallow.
What I did was I downloaded MM 23.5.A.1.291 for D6633.
Downloaded the flash tool then flashed the phone and I’m happy that I was able to upgrade to Marshmallow. Everything work OK.

  • Does this include a fix for GPS?

  • Per Bäckström

I find this new update fantastic, finally is the Android 6.0 running smootly on my Z3. The new battery life is nearly double up – I wounder what the phone did before?
If this update had been on the realese of the Z3 it would have been top notch and that is sadly because none will make a review today of a 2 year old phone.

    Satisfied, but..

    1. should have an option to turn off suggested apps
    2. when charging using magnetic dock, then someone calls, the screen orientation gone crazy!! please fix this.
    3. messaging – should add an option to turn off notification from a person/number
    4. add an option to block a number

Sorry my English is not that good
I hope someone can relay this to Sony, I don’t know how to report

  • Anya Kleiner

HI, I have Xperia z2 and since the update my battery started to heat up very bad and discharge twice as fast then before. Please help! How can I undo the update? Or delete it? Or something :( :(

  • Kent Rodriguez

Hi my z2 is locked to a carrier (Smart Telecom Philippines). Can I flash this ROM with no issues?

  • sanehdeep singh

after update to 23.5.a.1.291 xperia z2 d6502 india,
    1. more battery consumption almost 30-40% more consumption
    2. estimate time left in battery option is some time wrong, slower then previous update,
4.after using one week with this update, i downgrade to older version, now again my phone ok,
i will wait if sony fix this battery consumption issue

  • TucoPacifico

Great update to my Z3 Compact. Finally STAMINA is back and works like before. Deinstalled Doze. You can get rid of battery doctors and alike. Only downside is stamina is occupying the notification list which sucks, but so happy to have that crucial feature back! good work Sony!

  • TucoPacifico

I recommend Boat Browser Mini. Ditched Chrome completely. Ditched fb ans Messenger too, ram eaters and surveillance Tools! Using FB via browser only. Glad stamina is back. Curious about the multitasking improvement.

  • TucoPacifico

Actually I have the impression the phone feels more snappy because this darn animations are just disabled. Is it just me?

  • TucoPacifico

I just noticed in multitab browsing with Boat Mini, multitasking now really works :)

  • blakamin

My 6503 has become virtually unusable in the last month since this update. Even a factory reset didn’t fix the hanging camera app, the heating up, the not being able to restart without the little red button. So many issues, I’m thinking of flashing the old version.

  • sanehdeep singh

battery was more accurate in previous update .575, and it was goind 4 days without any charge , but in same uses after update to 23.5.A.1.291 it goes less then two day, if use average use it goes only one day,

  • Karthik

I just updated OTA, but don’t see any change!!! Just wasted 600MB of my dataplan…

  • sanehdeep singh

actualy that is not soft charging, if i on that feature by phone charge from 0 to 100 with in 1hr 30 min and phone fully discharge from 100 to 0 withing 1 and half day,

if i disable that optimizing chagrining feature then phone take 3 hr to charge full and goes 3 days with that charging,
    so i disable this feature

  • Quentin Böttger

Well that’s what it’s supposed to do. It limits the max percentage your battery charges to and puts because less stress onto the battery to let it live longer hardwarewise

  • sanehdeep singh

previously at 575 my phone goes more then 3 days so i charge my phone after 3days,
in 291 update my phone goes only 1 and half day only so i have to charge my phone twice as compare to previous version,

so if i charge dischage cycle my phone almost double in new update how my battery will go longer, my battery will die soon,

new update only help lazy people who dont disconnect there phone after 100% charge, if some body care the there phone and disconnect there phone when it charged 100% then this update will not help those and there battery will die soon, due to more charging and discharing cycle in new update,

  • Diego Silberberg

How can i instalo the update? Or when Will it be coming to latín América??

  • Matt Tsai

When will this update introduce to Taiwan as for SGP 641?
