New firmware was recently certified for the AT&T Xperia ion (LT28at) that suggests the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update is due soon. Firmware version 6.1.C.0.355 was certified on the 6 July, a release would normally arrive around a fortnight after this, but we don’t know what checks AT&T need to do before release. The 6.1.X part of the firmware suggests that this is ICS firmware, over the 6.0.X Gingerbread firmware.

The international version of the Xperia ion (LT28i) is not on PTCRB yet so we cannot see whether ICS firmware is also certified for these devices. The HSPA+ Xperia ion (LT28h) launched with Android 4.0.4 out of the box.
