Sony Mobile recently filed a new trademark at the United States Patent Office (USPTO): “Xperia Link”. From what we can tell this is not a new phone, but some kind of software that may be used to share or stream media content. The description for the trademark states the following:
“A computer software program used as an electronic feature found on apparatus for recording, transmission, processing and reproduction of sound, images or data, which enables the apparatus to share sound, images or data with other apparatus for recording, transmission, processing and reproduction of sound, images or data.”
At first we thought this might something akin to the HTC Media Link, which allows you to stream media from your phone to a television wirelessly. However, on reflection, we now think it might something similar to Samsung’s S-Beam feature on the Galaxy S III, allowing users to share documents and media by touching two phones together. Has anyone got any other ideas what this could be?
