Hi guys, I recently switched to the Z5 coming from using Nexus devices (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and Nexus 5) so I'm not familiar with the DRM keys and extra hoops and steps you have to go through in order to do any flashing to the phone. I don't want to unlock my bootloader and lose my DRM keys, and from what I understand I don't need to in order to flash a different firmware on my phone from a different region. What I'm not sure is what would happen to my DRM keys if I do the flash. I know there's no way to backup my TA partition so far. I've read that you need to first root with lock bootloader to be able to backup that partition, and the root for locked bootloaders is not possible yet. So, I really don't want to gamble losing my DRM keys. So, does anybody know what would happen to my DRM keys if I flash a new firmware using FlashTools/XperiFirm?
In short, nothing happens to your DRM keys when you flash firmware to your handset using Flashtool. The only way you can lose DRM keys is if you unlock your bootloader.
