Hi all, wish i'd have read up on this before i got it, seems it is as bad as people make out! So, i got my Xperia J a few days ago, and it flashed up with a message of: 'New System Update Available'. Great, i thought, but no... Current system is 11.0.A.3.18, new one is 11.0.a.7.5. Pull the notification menu down and tap on it, says i need PC Companion to update. So, download PC Companion. Do as i'm told and it downloads the update files, then goes to update phone, gets half way and stops, tells me there is a problem but it's ok because i can start again. Same things... Further reading up and people say to update via SUS, so, SUS Downloaded, go through the same process and bam! There's that problem again... Earlier reading shows people experiencing problems with the update anyway, so not too fussed about actually doing it, but why does it come up with an error? It's a new phone! Also, my Android version is 4.0.4, so ICS? As read, it lags a bit, most apps are slow and generally i wish i'd have kept my iPhone 3G, as it was better! Are there any settings etc that can be chaged to speed it up a little? My current app of choice is Gnar Trials and after 2 mins or so it goes into a really slow horrible game... Bloatware: Heard it said a few times, but not sure what it is...i assume it'll just be all the apps and bits that the manufacturer or network carrier put on it? I've read removing it will help things a little, and as i use the phone as a phone, with a satnav app and a few games, i don't think i'll need all the other gubbins that is on it? (Theres a few movie bits on it, news, book things, messengers...loads of stuff i wont ever use!) How do i go about removing it? Is it something PC Companion can do? Come Feb, when Sony reckon JB will be available for it, will it make much difference? People say it's more streamlined so will work better, but then current experience (Only a few days) Tells me not to bother and see if another mug wants to buy this one off me (Can't return it, stupid enough to get it on a cheap contract) then go with a Galaxy, or even back to the iPhone? Pretty annoying really, new phone with old software, but physically can't update it, even though updates are available? My wife has the Xperia T, which to be honest, is almost as disappointing.... Are there any fixes for my problems or am i just stuck with it? Shame really because as a phone i quite like it, feels nice, looks nice and if it had a bit ore go to it, would be a pleasure to use! 4th Sony Ericsson phone i've had and the others were very reliable! Sorry if this seems a bit of a dumb post, but this is my first Android device and no idea how it actually works! I guess this would be a bit like Linux of the phone world? Previous phones have been Nokias of various guises, an iPhone 3G and a few previous Sonys (Last one was a K750i)... Anyway, enough rambling! If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated!
xperia J seems like a decent phone to own and i quite enjoy to have it at first. then the problem began when i upgrade it from 11.0.A.3.18 to 11.0.a.7.5. now, each time i reboot my phone, an error message will pop "Unfortunately, android system has stopped". how to solve this problem? btw, i'm just an 'end user' ~ i dont know much about the technicalities...
I have the same problem like you Minfad,, i was really shocked since it was my new phone. I tried to install it again and again, following every single step explained,, and bam! the miracle happens, my phone works normally.. You need to download PC companiaon, and i download the new version through my laptop
Hi Andar. I dunno whether this is really the solution or not but the error message is now no longer there. Try downloading apps "Clean Master" from google play and run all the cleanup process ~ history -> cache & residual files. After that no more error message. Maybe that is the solution or maybe I'm just one lucky s.o.b. hahahaha
I just bought the xperia j yesterday, and I updated it after the update it seemed to stick a bit when flicking between screens, so I did a factory reset and it seems to be OK now, so maybe if anyone is having problems after the update try the reset.
