Hi guys - anyones' help would be greatly appreciated! Come across this forum when searching for help with my issue as below so thought I'd register and ask. I'm having problems backing up my files before sending the phone away to the insurer. I dropped the phone, smashed the screen and have also broken the phones' touch-screen function. So it's absolutely unuseable aside from the lock and camera buttons! I removed the SIM, put it in my old Xperia and now I'm now up and running on that. However! When I connect the Z3 to my PC to back it up and open up the 'PC Companion', it says a SIM must be in the phone and that the PIN code must have been inserted. My phone has no SIM, it's in my old one and even if it did I couldn't enter the PIN as the screen is broken! How can I get the files from my PC without having a SIM and PIN?! Thanks for your time and help!
What kind of files are you looking to backup? If it is media, can you not see anything when connecting the Z3 to the PC via Windows Explorer? Assuming you had a pin prior to the accident, PC Companion is most likely asking for the pin as a security measure. As this cannot be inputted, even if you reinstall new firmware and keep your data intact this may keep your security settings live.
It's mainly my photos and videos I'm looking to back up - and no, I can't see anything on Windows Explorer when I connect as it asks for the SIM and PIN before it shows the files. Really stuck as to how I can back any of it up!
