flashing to ics is a mistake for me at least. i'm going to point out some experiences i had after updating, please do correct me if i'm wrong (aside from grammar) or ur device does not suffer from such issues. it'll help me decide whether i should flash back to gb. may sound like a rant.

ok so i was one of those who thought upgrading to ics will fix what i don't like about gingerbread and be happy. it did make multitasking much better for me and data tracking is what i needed. but the pluses does not outweigh the minuses for me.

first of all ram, its driving me nuts. how did 1 gb of ram ended up with between 80 - 150? yeah right after boot up it was 200+, but no matter how little i use it or how i kill unnecessary apps, i still drop below 150. ok that doesn't prove anything, the device is supposed to be smoother. not for me. now my phone apps take 3+ seconds to load up, making quick calls r down right embarrassing.

album app although seemingly improved, i lost folder categorizing ability which is critical for my work. (found out how to make folder categorize by moving them out of the DCIM folder which is stupid). talking about stupidity, when we have a quick launch camera button, we can only choose slide to camera is beyond words for me. but now i kind of realize why they need that. its because we (or just maybe me) don't have the 2 seconds launch to camera anymore. from lock screen, if i'm lucky it taks 5-6 seconds to load up the camera using the shutter key, and thats if i'm lucky. most of time nothing happened. i have to keep pressing and pressing, and try again. the dude next to me was asking what am i trying to do. you know what else piss me off? when i use touch to snap option in camera, after 5 - 10 pictures, i get the message "memory error" then it crashes.

oh its not just the camera app, now my phone app, calendar app, message app, maps, album apps, and even xperia home screen (which none of those are 3rd party programs) would lock up for minutes before crashing, happened everyday since updating to ics, all of this happen during work. i am so frustrated with ics right now i wouldn't even bother to play games with.

xperia smart tags drive me nuts now as well. not only it lost some crucial functions like gps on in car, it takes 5-6 tries to get the phone to detect it. when it was gingerbread it only took 1 swipe always. this is insane. i wouldn't use this ics again until they fixed those problems.

thats it from me for 4 days after flashing. if anyone don't have this problem or experience other issues, please tell me. if there is a sony representative in front of me, i can't say i won't strangle him.

    1. Don't worry about RAM. Google & Sony knows better memory managment than you and me :D. Leave it and your phone will run smoothly. Don't use Task Killers, ever!

    2. Agreed with album art, but again, there are plenty out there in the play store. Grab one you like. QuickPic is one of the famous.

    3. No issues for me. No crashing.

    4. Not using it, at least never used until now. So I'm not sure about it.

The only issues I'm having (actually everyone complaining about) is the Facebook application, which has become a crap and music shuttering if played through the Bluetooth.

Try flashing again or repair the firmware via PCC or SUS.

well i'm glad to hear not everyone's camera app behaves crazy like mine, but i'll have to repair firmware or something when i get off work today. how long does it take ur phone app to load up? album i'm not even going to bother, i'm just going to load it up directly into my pc n use it there. for me i use my phone for work a lot, thats why i'm complaining about its core functions. does ur phone app take 4 seconds to load up? thats crazy. as for facebook/music, i've never touched them, got no time for them. but i do use the camera A LOT for work, which is also why i bought this phone. so when i bought a phone for a certain function, n its crapping out, you would be pissed too if you need to use it regularly.

Phone app takes couple of second to open up. I believe it was same for me in GB. But Camera takes extra 2 or may be 3 seconds to open up compared to GB.

EDIT: There is a new update to be rolled out soon. I hope it will fix the issues in ICS.

    Hello

I confirm that the phone camera takes longer to shoot when it's locked.
The smart tags issues are the same with me (you can see my thread).
My phone didn't crashed yet, but for the album problem you can use others apps.

    Hi kazuki,
I've just upgraded my xperia s to ics a few days ago. and I've not experienced any of the problems you have encountered.
I may be running a newer firmware , so hopefully yours may be responding a lot better now.
I've just timed my shutter button and it snaps a photo in less than 2 seconds.
