Sony has officially announced that the Xperia Tablet Z will launch globally during Q2. The water-resistant (IP55 & IP57) tablet is the slimmest (6.9mm) and lightest (495g) 10.1-inch around according to Sony. We have included pricing for different regions below. In terms of specifications, the Xperia Tablet Z is powered by the Qualcomm APQ8064 (and MDM9215M) chipset with 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB RAM. It will have a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200) TFT display and come with an 8.1MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera. Other features include a 6000mAh battery, S-Force Front Surround 3D, NFC, MHL, Universal IR Remote and a microSD memory card slot. The Xperia Tablet Z will launch with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and will be upgraded to Android 4.2 following launch. The LTE version (SGP321) of the Xperia Tablet Z will have 16GB of internal storage and will be available in black only. The LTE version supports bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 20. The Wi-Fi versions will come in a 16GB (SGP311) and 32GB (SGP312) SKU and will be available in both black and white colours.
