Can someone please explain to me why my Xperia Z3 (D6603) running Android 5.1.1 (build number 23.4.A.0.546) is still vulnerable to Stagefright? I was under the impression that this would have been fixed by now?
Hi Matt, I don't know if what I write here helps you, but I'll let you know what I did to overcome the vulnerability on my Z3 comapct. I live in the UK and am using a sim-free Z3 compact, currently using O2 PAYG. I am on Android 5.1.1. I downloaded the 'Stagefright Vulnerability' test from Google Play, and ran the analysis. It told me that my phone was vulnerable. Not knowing what to do with the information, I connected my phone to the PC and opened up Sony Companion and checked for updates. I saw there was one, so I allowed the update, and out of curiosity, I once again checked my phone's vulnerability to Stagefright, and found that I was no longer vulnerable. The update took me to build number: 23.4.A.1.264, whereas before I did the update the build number was 23.4.A.1.108 Hope this helps?
Hello Elysiumfire, I finally received this update as well. I'm running Android 5.1.1 build number 23.4.A.1.264 on my (unbranded) Xperia Z3 D6603 now and the Stagefright vulnerabilities seem to be fixed. I’ve always been a big fan of Sony’s but I’m very disappointed that it took them more than 4 months to fix this... Cheers!
