Xperia S just received their Ice-Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 updates recently and still are rolling out to users around the world but Google have just announced the latest version of Android; Jelly Bean 4.1... It took quite a long time for SONY Mobile Communications to roll out its official ICS update... It would be a shame to it's parent company, a leading multinational conglomerate - SONY Corporation if they cannot cope up with the current rate of changes and updates... There have been numerous people laughed at my face for buying a sony smartphone without considering the other leading brands (Samsung, HTC, Apple, Google's Nexus) but I still have my trust and faith in SONY that the new XPERIA NXT line will deliver something different in the smartphone market... The wait for for ICS was excruciating while S2 and Note users get their updates with One X and Nexus users enjoy their in-box ICS... No doubt that Sony's ICS User-Interface is far more beautiful, elegant and smooth compared to Samsung and HTC... I just don't want another reason added into the account that I was wrong buying a Sony device if the wait is unacceptably long and delays everywhere... For now, enjoy our ICS and pray hard that it won't take 6 months or anywhere near there to get our Jelly Bean updates... Google is releasing Jelly Bean to open-source starting in mid July and I'm eager to receive news about Xperia S getting Jelly Bean... Response if anyone of you have any idea on the update... Nonetheless, Xperia S is an amazing and awesome smartphone which have a lot to talk about... I love it... Thanks... =)
What is the point you are trying to say? ICS was just released to Xperia S and they have few more devices waiting in the queue. JB will come when it comes.
ICS was released back in mid November 2011 but Xperia S users just received their updates in late June 2012... In total, it took Sony Mobile Communication almost 8 months to release their official ICS... Then why we didn't get ICS when it comes in the first place?? It would be ridiculous for us to wait another 8 months or anytime near there to receive our Jelly Beans updates...
No body asked you to wait for ICS and no body asked you to wait for JB. Its your choice. But tell me, which vendor upgraded their entire (almost) product line-up like Sony did? C'on, stop bitching and get in with the life.
I love Sony... That's why I waited... So what is your problem dude??? We all want the best for our phones and 7 months + is unacceptably long... This forum is about Xperia S getting Jelly Bean and if you are not discussing about that, please leave... Sorry if you can't deal with the fact that Sony really took almost 8 months to release their official ICS... I'm talking about the current flagship phone for Sony Mobile Communications... Not the entire line of product... Go open a new thread if you wanna discuss about that... Thanks...
I have no problem dude. You just received ICS update, which is considered a major upgrade from GB. Why do you want to jump so fast to JB when it is just announced by Google and it's not even out, yet! Give it some time and I'm sure Sony will announce for Xperia S. Now cool
I love Sony... I think all of us here love Sony a lot... That's why we don't end up with Samsung or Apple... That's why I wrote, "for now, enjoy our ICS and pray hard that Jelly Bean will arrive soon enough"... Just keep our eyes on the announcement which I believe will not be far away... Yeah... Cool... =)
Actually, the Note only just got ICS on AT&T. So let's back up here and consider a few issues. 1) Service providers. They suck, and slow it all down because of their stupid needs. More so in the US where every networks does it differently, compared to the standard way things are done in the rest of the world. 2) Because it is soooo easy to update the OS. Especially to do it and ensure it is stable. And then to do it for an entire line of phones. Seriously, I know SE were somewhat behind the curve, and even now everyone is like 'Oh BOOO! This phone is old.... only dual core.... booo!'. But honestly, I want to know why we even need to have more than dual cores? I am more than positive that Sony do some good optimization for their phones. Now what with the plan for there being more the one nexus phone this time round, and the developer kit, it should mean that Sony has had JB for the last few months. So I would expect an update sometime before the year is out.
looks like Xperia S is getting the 4.1 http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/July2012/no-android-4-1-for-xperia-arc-s-or-xperia-mini-pro.html
