So I started my Android journey with a Galaxy Ace, terrible experience. Had to revert to changing my ROM everyday. Then went to an Xperia U, loved it except for the 512MB RAM shortage. Decided to give Samsung another shot with the S II, it was great except the battery life was terrible and the UI Skin is very heavy on RAM, tried the S III after all the hype. Nothing special. Same crap battery life and ugly UI, while using the SIII, I dropped it once and the screen smashed (even though it had Gorilla Glass). I then sold it and saved up for an Xperia Z. I was loving every bit of it, aside from the heating issues it's the greatest Android device I've ever owned. Anyway, enough of my device history, the thing is, last month (10th May to be specific), my phone fell out of my jeans pockets (pockets were really small and I hadn't put the phone in properly). It fell out, I just shoved it back in my pocket and continued doing what I was. I take it out to text someone and notice there's a massive crack in the screen and the area above the crack doesn't work (touch doesn't respond). It's kinda sad because I've only had it 2 months and bought it with all my savings (370 USD). I've been using the phone like this ever sine. I've asked my local Sony Center, they said they can't repair it. Nobody can. Since I live in Pakistan, there aren't many phone repair experts. Fortunately for me, I visit UAE frequently and there are a few people who can repair the Xperia Z. I'm all ready to go to a guy who's fixing it for 490 AED (135 USD). Now what I want to ask is, are there any disadvantages of having the phone repaired? Will it act weird after the repair? I've also heard that the phone will no longer be waterproof if I get the screen replaced. Sorry for writing such a long story for you guys. Secondly, I recently updated my phone to 4.4.2 and the phone and UI look even better than before but the phones battery life is very annoying. I have to charge it 2-3 times a day.
