I know there are many customers like me that are fed up with the new lollipop firmware. Here are the issues I am suffering since the update - I really hope Sony / Google will react soon with some bugfixes. Battery life has rendered unacceptable, despite having all energy-saving options activtated (e.g. stamina-mode). 30 minutes usage cost approximately 25% and the phone gets really warm. Multitasking is dead. Before the update it was possible to use a radio streaming app AND chrome/facebook-app/whatever simultaneosly, but now the radio app will die with an error as soon as you open a second app. For some inexplicable reasons apps die shortly after they have been started - you have to start them for a second or a third time until they work in a stable way. Sometimes the phone's response is laggy and slow: if you press the home-icon in order to return to the home-screen, there are only some kind of placeholders for your home-screen-icons to see, the real icons appear afterwards - slowly and piece by piece. Another perfomance-impact can be experienced while receiving calls: if someone calls you, the ringtone starts playing (with vibration), then you can watch the screen appear - bit by bit - the empty app design (frames, background colours), the callers' photo (if specified), the phone number and - finally - the buttons to accept/decline the call. I didn't mention all the other annoying "improvements", that seem to be meant as features (missing "close all apps"-Button, no airplane mode while pressing the power-button, the user-unfriendly task-switcher, and many more) Usually I'm not a person who complains a lot - but this is really annoying me. I spent a lot of money for that device (and the latest hardware at that point in time) and now it is rendered useless.
I downgraded to kitkat and my all problems are solved, kitkat is way more stable and can utilize hardware more effectively than lollipop
I have the phone for 6 months now and and i`m very pleased with it. I did the lolipop update all by itself witch i think is very strange. Kitkat was working exelent on my phone but thats not the case for lolipop. I don`t have the battery issues that some people have but there are some strange effects in whatsapp and facebook. I don`t always get a notification in whatsapp and and trying to go from the lockscreen whatsapp notification to the unlock is impossible. The screen starts flashing and you have to stop this with the home button. Text input in the lockscreen whatsapp is also impossible. The other annoying thing is when i press volume up or down when listening with my earphones the screen turn on and the phone is unlocked while sitting in my pocket. This is very,very irritating!! I hoped for the quick charge option from sony together with great new things in lollipop. sofar i am a bit dissapointed.
Update! Today a kernel update was delivered. It changed the build version to 23.1.A.1.28 New with this update: a button at the bottom of the task switcher, which let's you close all apps at once. Second thing: I'm typing this text AND I'm listening to music via radio streaming. Other improvements will take some time to be discovered. Congratulations and thanks to Sony, they've reacted quite quickly. Although... The Kernel build date is March 30th...
After a couple of weeks I can say that performance has improved in general, but it is still not good. The radio-streaming still die after they've been sent to background, but it takes longer. Annoying: some apps are "starting new" if you resume to them. Maybe a problem with these apps themselves. Sometimes a laggy behaviour can still be experienced. Gesendet von meinem D5803 mit Tapatalk
