Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman Android phone announced

2.1, seriously?

Seems like this is a cheap phone and by looking at where they are releasing it, seems likely. So 2.1 shouldn’t be a big deal. If it was a high end phone, I’d be up in arms.

SE does not learn from their mistakes. The Walkman brand died for a reason. Instead of making a cheap remake version of the x8, SE should have used the Walkman software in ALL of their smartphones. Making their music experience a reason to purchase a Arc, neo, and play etc. The fact that is comes with 2.1 is extremely disappointing. I wont be surprised if those rumors of SE being up for sale are true, because they have completely lost touch with the market.

Stop making single feature phones and put the Walkman software in ALL of the smartphones! SE do something that makes sense for once!

I was so much looking forward for this phone! What a huge disappointment! I don’t know why S/E don’t realize that if they did take good care of their walkman and cybershot series they would earn gold!

Both walkman & cybershot phones made s/e shine compared to other regular phones. Why Sony why?

It’s a nice phone. Not bad. It may not be ground breaking but then even iPhone has been the same since the i Phone 1 with only minor changes here and there for every version. In fact i feel it is really a good news for Walkman fans who wanted the flexibility of Android and the splendid music output of Walkman.

I had a feeling this phone would end up being another paperweight in a box. Why do SE degrade and disregard the walkman line so much. They are know for their sound quality, yet the W line gets the least attention. 2.1, the 3-inch screen and 3.2mp camera are also insulting; and with a plethora of apps to your disposal these days, i’m very suprised that they would take this risk because the ‘W’ part of the phone is really just an app. An app that is much better sought after elsewhere in the market.

Hey if you guys want a cheaper w8 you just buy a x8 and use Sony Ericsson update service and install w8 software and youre done

se is really stupid. they launch a walkman branded phone with no equalisers and absolute no information on audio enhancements like mega bass, etc. why wud someone but this copy cat of x8 when even the cheapest of music phones in the market have custom eqs nowadays.  the walkman may be a brand but audiophiles are no fools like se if u say nothing about sound quality ans intend to sell a music phone. heh heh  spiro was bad, yendo no good either, so guys don’t be surprised.

yea! this was my first time to have a SE, I’m really disappointed am looking forward of the good and quality music player but I’ve got this so basic music player… I regret for having this… it’s a waste! even its camera, it has only four presets for the photos! really annoying!!!

Why should there be W8 if X8 is still having the same specs and just minor changes on the software with walkman logo. Morever the walkman features wasn’t that good comparing to other mobile music player. Don’t waste money on W8 over cheaper X8.

This phone is waste of both time as well as money.. its like this phone was developed in early 2008 and never got released due to some reason….. and all of a sudden when SE was loosing market completely it launched this…. they are chopping their own fingers off now a days…. I am never ever gonna buy SE phones from now on…. and i am a guy who started off wtih W800i, Z550i, G502, S312, C510 (Was the best mobo ever), W395, was out of budget for X10 and all and finally landed up with W8, and hopefully now SE R.I.P.

spiro was only a music phone. it had surprising good sound. but it had nothing without audio. yendo also.
w8 is good. use it, feel it, hear it, then comment. use different players like power amp, now mega bass becomes less useful, normal players are so strong…

The battery life is not good want to charge between half the day

I have this phone and I tested it against Iphone.  This phone can last up to 2.75 hours of continuous use of wifi (facebook/youtube/downloading apps), text/call and playing music while the Iphone 4G can only last 1.5 hours with the same amount of usage.  Iphone is a waste of money than this one.

Absolutely amazing pictures! I’m a huge fan of cell phone accessories and I always like to add some style to my gadgets. Would definitely be checking these phones out on the weekend.

this handset is not succesful because it mostly does not support any software and it is going tophone memory not in memory card
