The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc was rooted by the devs over at xda-developers earlier today and right on cue the Xperia PLAY has followed suit.
Bin4ry has written the full instructions to get root and as before it relies on your bootloader being unlocked. So far rooting will only work with those running v184 global firmware. However, we suspect other firmware packages will get uploaded shortly too.
