European Commission approves Sony’s acquisition of Ericsson’s stake in SE

The European Commission has approved Sony’s plan to take full ownership of the Sony Ericsson joint venture, after it bought Ericsson’s stake for €1.05 billion in October 2011. The transaction has always been subject to regulatory approval and this removes a major obstacle. It won’t be too much longer now before we see the first ‘Sony’ branded Xperia smartphone.

Soon there will be a press release from Sony with all the details and changes that will be coming. Everything has to change from SonyEricsson to Sony. It will take a while for all the changes to take place.

I hope it will remain as a pleasant reminder of Sony Ericsson. The logo itself is very nice, especially its environmentally friendly green color.

On play.com, it says that Xperia S is due release on January 30th. Its been like that for over a week, so its not likely to be a mistake..i was sure it wouldnt be released on January 30th, but now that they got the approval, can it be true? Sony said Xperia S will be released on Q1, not necesarilly March (right?)
