the new ice cream sandwich UI? or is it gingerbread 

so what i know and i don’t know that much to be honest… but the camera IU is different then that i saw on the xperia S, plus there is a different gallery app.. which SE said that in the 4.0 update they would have two different galleries – could this one be this? Is this the UI that will be in the 4.0 update? I hope so

Looks much better than the current gingerbread UI. i hope its the ice cream 4.0 UI. Things i like to comment on:

1. Lock screen – looks good and functional to have more information directly from the lock screen. Though i thought they be using the circle lock found in stock 4.0

2. Default icons – much better than current version but still want consistency and cleaner icons i.e box around all icons. I don’t like how each icons are different shaped. (my personal preference)

3. phonebook/dialer – hope they add t9 contacts. Like exDialer i want them to add Swipe contact left/right to SMS/call feature. finally nice big square picture on the call screen and favourites. Hate the current landscape version.

4. calculator - anything is much better than the current version.

5. camera – dont know. i do like the old one with slide to hide settings etc. cant judge by the pictures.

6. widgets – looks better than current one. Though i don’t use widget much on my arc. only 1 or 2.

7. gallery – so much more usable than current version. i hate the stock gingerbread one cause its so slow. gallery is to view photos so dont need 3d just clean and simple UI. really like the new gallery UI.

8. Music – don’t listen to music on my phone much but looks more presentable than current version.

9. Timescape – don’t use timescape but looks much more usable and clean than current version.

Overall i’m excited for the 4.0 update for my xperia arc. overall colour and UI looks polished,clean, minimal and edgy. Can’t wait!!

Forgot to mention the following want list:

1. i do hope they add wifi, gps, flash light etc toggles on the notification bar like on MIUI, htc etc. easy access when ever you need it.

2. theme to change the whole colour UI like black or white. Also the blue highlights to other colours like orange, red etc. More options to customize the better.

3. clock app should also have toggles for worldclock, timer, stopwatch.

4. hope the stock browser is much more user friendly. dolphin HD, boat browser, opera browser etc much better than stock. i also want standard that google can sync my chrome bookmarks.

5. bloatware. i hate when things run on the background when i dont even use them like facebook etc. would like the option to delete unused sony apps to free space. Am i right that 4.0 can freeze apps? Hope so cause it takes up ram!!!

I know only these promo versions have the “Sony Ericsson” logo, but I will happily pay extra for that if I can, I do not like it having just “Sony”, feels too anonymous like my Dad would own it, and as fickle as it sounds, may make me change brands (currently on my 8th SE phone)

Very likely. The 2011 Xperia line will get official ICS update rolling out March-May and I think it’ll get a UI very similar to the Xperia S aka UXP NXT.

gingerbread right ? thats not yet the ICS

the NXT UI is very promising, very simple but elegant. I know there are many things to furnish in Sony NXT launcher i am hoping for the NXT next launcher update they will add the ff.
1. ability to resize the widgets
2. ability to hide unnecessary applications in home launcher
3. ability to remove and add home screen tab
4. ability to make folders in home launcher
5. ability to add selection for status switch
6. ability to add customize themes
7. add nicer digital clock (small, medium, large)

yeah, finally it come to nxt series hope we can use it in 2011 series
