New Sony Xperia leaks without liquid energy logo

by XB on 9th May 2012

in Rumours, Xperia J

A new Sony Xperia handset leaked earlier today and notably it seems to be the first model without the Sony Ericsson liquid energy logo ball on the back. The source of the leak claims the handset is the Sony ST26i, although given that we’ve already heard about the ST27i, we’ll wait for verification on the model number.

PhoneArena claims that the handset will have a 4-inch qHD display, 1GHz NovaThor U8500 chipset, 512MB RAM and 8GB internal storage. This may end up being the case, but it places the specs too close to the Xperia P to be realistic in our view. The handset has capacitive buttons at the front instead of the on-screen buttons of the Xperia GX and Xperia SX. Click through for a larger image and let us know what you think.

  • Atlas

It looks too ‘clean’ for my tastes, Much rather Liquid Energy logo on the back

  • Nine

so they rip off their own XPERIA P ?

  • M Usman

the black variant looks like the motorola milestone. especially the front of the design. eww…

  • Asad Mulla

So I guess its just saying “four screens” in a subliminal way.

  • nooooooooooo. that logo had awesome design.  I really loved that logo. shame sony!

  • XYZ

Probably a Japanese variant of the Xperia P, in the same way the Xperia Acro is the Japanese variant of the Xperia S

  • Dreamitwork

It might be a google phone…

  • DragonClaw

Doesn’t the cell looks really thin?

Here’s what I said to my friend yesterday. “The day Sony ditches the orb, I will ditch Sony. HTC forever”. As I thought they will never ditch that orb. But seems like they are doing it real quick.

And this one looks sleek. And the screen does not seem to be as large as 4 inches. Its about 3.5 inches. I suppose. I hope. Lets wait and see.

    I totally agree.

Sony should leave the liquid energy logo to at least respect their 10 years partnership with Ericsson and remember how they evolved along all these years together.

I would be really disappointed if Sony were to remove the liquid energy logo, I would also consider it selfish and disrespectful on their behalf.

I am positive that most Sony Ericsson fans are the ones who are supporting Sony mobile now, and they love the logo because of all the great memories it leaves them with.

Please like if you agree to show the world that we Sony fans still love the liquid energy logo.

    Thanks,

beside nothing really bad to make it as a logo just like PS logo

  • Hangwire

If this handset have a 4 inch. Display the name is not “ST”.
    S = small, and the Xperia P (4 inch. too) is calles LT22i (L = large)

  • Pleitti

ST26? meaning , small touch . but why the features is for LT ??? so the ST27 could be more better and higher than this ??? but the leaked features of st27 is only 3.5inches screen , 1ghz dual core and 5mp … its kinda weird . come on sony , and please , dont remove the energy logo … its kinda plain if sony remove that

  • hamboy

Who cares? It’s just a logo, you’re talking about it like it’s an old friend.

  • hamboy

You would really ditch a company over a logo? You sound like those apple fanboys who just buy things for the brand and not the hardware

  • Jake

You clearly don understand those memory we have with the logo .

    K700 , K300 , w800 , T610 , k750, z520 .

All my friend from school time have the logo before .

  • ..or just change the colour of the liquid logo to blue or whatever or make it CUSTOMIZABLE…X)

  • Dvavdvav

this looks like the image last week (peaking one), that people were saying was the hayabusa

  • trash design

  • iCeQubeTomato

    512… epic fail

  • betatesterz

The front looks like one of the Hayabusa leaks earlier on…http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/04/28/sony-lt29i-hayabusa-spotted-in-the-wild/

The rear looks to ‘Samsungish’ to be a sony phone.. :(

  • oh hell, why sony remove that orb, arghh!!!
i am very dissapointed for the design team…

  • I feel the same way as I’ve always done… No SE logo, no buy.
Seriously, it is the ‘apple’ of SE phones. They need a logo there, and the orb is just PERFECT.
I have a really hard time imagining me buying one of the phones if the orb dissapears… And just for the record:
I have only had Ericsson, Sony Ericsson and Sony phones… Except for a Nokia that I got as a present -.-

  • TjaldidTjaldid

I think it looks better without the logo much more cleaner

  • lovebmw

well, that 10 year relationship had a disaster outcome, i don’t mind stopping the logo to start a new a breed of fresh… but i think in order NOT to piss off fans or workers just like you feel, they could have enhanced the logo or developed it to something cooler.  that’s just my opinion

  • mobiousO

The liquid energy logo incorporated into each of every Sony/SE phones designs makes it very unique. No other mobile company have every incorporate their brands in that way. They just put words and it looked very boring. Sony phones without the liquid energy logo seems like a loss of identity and to me the phone doesn’t look special anymore. I can’t “make.believe” if our feedback are not taken into consideration.

  • TjaldidTjaldid

I don’t think that this is the same one

  • farlaks

    common.. its a single core wid 512 ram..5 mp..internal 16gb.. whu said its clse 2 xperia P?

  • farlaks

    internal 8gb*

  • Klay

your words inspired me to create a petitions http://www.change.org/petitions/sony-mobile-keep-sony-ericsson-logo-liquid-energy-logo-as-a-logo-for-xperia-phones.
    please share this link.

    thank you

  • ..or just change the colour of the liquid logo to blue or whatever or make it CUSTOMIZABLE…X)..or make it the notification led light ?

  • Jimimoku

Agree, its an identity logo for them and i think i prefer it than none. Having said that i see what others mean by saying its more clean.
With the logo it can be clean as its not huge (unlike apple logo) therefore its unobtrusive. The Xperia typography is very nice and became sony’s mobile phone brand name.

    company+product/brand+model

    Examples:Sony – Xperia – Arc, S etcApple – iphone – 4, 4S etcSamsung – Galaxy – Note, S3 etc

That is a better structure to work with and glad they continue to do so. Just don’t flood the market with too many models. A low, medium and high end models every 6 months or every year is better. Best if it’s yearly i think cause nowadays people keep phones for at least a year before upgrading. This should save them cost and marketing x amount of models.

  • Jimimoku

for a low end model 512mb seems reasonable but i think they should work with spec structure something like this maybe:

low end, x1 screen size, 512 ram, 8gb storage.

mid end, x2 screen model, 1gb ram, 8gb/16gb storage.

high end, x2 screen model, 1gb ram, 16gb/32gb storage.

i just hope they dont flood the market with x amount of models.

  • Basharca

    Thanks bro, great move!

I signed it and I asked for assistance from the owner of the blog.

Let’s see if he could also give us a hand to progress with this petition.

  • Azharyusri
