New Xperia S firmware: 6.0.A.3.75 and 6.0.A.3.76 hitting some regions

Xperia S firmware 6.0.A.3.76There are a couple of new Android Gingerbread builds rolling out to Sony Xperia S handsets. Some people are getting updates to firmware version 6.0.A.3.75, whilst others have 6.0.A.3.76. Both firmware builds do not appear to be certified by PTCRB which is strange and could suggest they are not global rollouts.

From what we can tell the software brings some increased sensitivity with the front capacitive buttons over the existing firmware (6.0.A.3.73 ) along with other bug fixes. In terms of how the v75 firmware differs from v76, we have no idea – but for all intents and purposes there seems to be little difference between the two. If you want to try the firmware for yourself, you can download the pre-rooted FTF files here.

I notice that you can now select FastShoot mode with the following options :

    *Start and Shoot
    *Start
    *Disable

  • adsada_arc

I think the the MTP mode has also improved, seemed to find the device everytime now whereas before I had to sometimes replug in the phone for the computer to find it

@0d2b559f85e785f846e1e46e1b74af08:disqus that option has always been available :)

  • Frant7

    it was on *.73

  • Jrom

Just got it in Switzerland with a no-carrier Xperia s

  • LavonneDDecker

Is there any point updating to this and restoring everything especially since ICS is round the corner, literally a few weeks from now… I don’t think its wroth the hassle

  • even on .67

  • Jake

If it is OTA update or through pc compension i might consider to update it :S

  • I have *.75 in France

  • Antwnhs Ant

    No! 2 June!

  • XS owner

they said improved…not something “new” ;)

  • Asad Mulla

the capacitive buttons on old firmware were really bad. Hope it make a massive difference.

  • Carlo Marasigan

Lol… they want to delay ICS do they?

  • Just upgraded to 75 in Spain via PCC, all Sony pre-installed applications returned. Oh well… At least they can be uninstalled.

  • Raffy

Is this update available in Australia?

  • daniel

maybe their running capative key response on gb os before adopt into ics .. maybe….

  • BobbyClark

Yes. I got mine last night.

  • The v75 firmware hit my region, Indonesia. But I’ve download yet an update. If I could, I would like to share in this forum. Thanks for updating

  • Cheeky Raffy

Hmmm..I tried to update mine today but it says I have the latest updates. I’m sure mine is 6.0.A.3.73. Did you update your phone through PC Companion?

  • Cheeky Raffy

Does all updates from Sony given to all Australian phone networks at the same time? I’m using Vodafone, maybe it has something to do with it?

  • BobbyClark

Yes. Mine is carrier-free, but I got the update when I connected to my computer and opened PC Companion.

  • SMK

I’m in the Uk and haven’t had an update since .67, this is getting ridiculous how some regions have .76 and we never even got .75…

  • Cheeky Raffy

Thanks mate. I guess I’ll just wait for the ICS.

  • v75 firmware look like faster and smooth than before. But, there is no big different with this new firmware. We just have to wait ICS. We wish no more delayed schedule from Sony.

  • Off Topic: Here is the UAProf of the international GX aka Hayabusa/LT29i

What do you think about battery? I can surf on internet only 2h and 30 min. And you? Of ics will not improve battery optimization i will sell it… I think that 1750mha are not enough, but xperia s is not optimized

  • Mike

I use gopowerbattery widget.. it shows my remaining batt life in hours, and since the update to .75 from .73, my battery DOUBLED! and yes the capacitive buttons works like a charm now!

  • Teng How Lai

no need backup for this update?

  • hans petah

  • nithin

    i got the update..!! 75

  • I Got the Update today in Egypt. It fixed some bugs i’ve noticed with my XS. like if i’m playing music & then i got a call the music automatically pause then after i finish the call it should be played automatically again but it didn’t…after this update this was fixed. And I’m not sure if there r other bugs fixed or not but i think this update is a kind of preparing the XS for the ICS update & hopefully not for any other reason like postponing it.

  • Tin Tak

If you use SPC, it will backup automatically and then install the update. Nothing to hassle about I think.

  • edward

just got the update, am Malaysia user…
anyway, guys can you please check for a bit, is the update change anything to the equalizer preset of the music player? my phone’s rock preset has gone…

  • Kalimero

For all those who want to update the software, do not use PC Companion download the Sony mobile Update service @ http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
    – once after the download install it
    – it checks for update and downloads the software and then flashes on to the device.

But be carefull while doing this make sure you have atleast 50% of battery charged and have a good internet speed. I have downloaded it and i can see the imporvement in the battery worth to have the SE update to .75 or .76 till we get ICS.

Just tap the button on the headset multiple times to work without pressing power button… this seems like a bug till they fix this!

  • received .75 yesterday (Germany). Can’t tell much difference yet though… It would be great if the battery life really has improved though…

  • Allister

I noticed the battery increase a few days prior to the recent update. I had already updated to 0.73(on three network) and not noticed an improvement but then out of the blue I noticed my phone was rebooting. I initially assumed it had crashed and restarted but after the reboot my battery life doubled and has been consistantly at 18 to 20 hours since then (previously I was lucky to get 10). I assumed there was an over the air update that had installed as prior to that the 0.73 battery life wasn’t great.

  • DK here also, I haven’t noticed any improvement either…

  • You could that before too..

  • joshua_sx1

Is there any official statement from Sony with regards to the improvement of 6.0.A.3.75 / 76 from previous build? I barely notice any solid improvement…

  • tuubies

After update i get frequent fc’s of launcher. Also my weather widget stopped working, it doesn’t even work if delete widget and add new one.

  • afterace

Updating as we speak. So did they fix the faulty MTP which makes the phone impossible to connect to the PC after few times? Frankly thats the biggest issue I have with this phone and drives me crazy. I don’t even care for ICS that much anymore, just fix the damn pc connection…

  • Siv

In SA too, I got. 75 today via PC Companion.

  • Roozbeh

I’m in UK and I got the update today.. finally. but Sony UK still sucks :|

  • Xperia S user

Just updated to .75 from .73 (Netherlands)
The responsiveness of the buttons has improved considerably!
Other than that the gallery and video performance seem to have improved as well.
Really hope battery life has improved too! (music and WIFI drained the battery too quickly imo…)

  • mesenger

Done my update yesterday 7/6/2012 Live in the UK not sure what its done other than battery lasts longer and to be fair I never suffered any issues with the phones OS that I noticed

  • Xeozy Zeoxy

just got the update here in the UK on an unbranded xperia s! Had to use the update service instead of pc companion though because that wouldn’t connect to their servers

  • Husamito

u tried any update before before and didnt delete all user data???

  • XpeS

My screen and vibration freezes frequently after the update!

  • my screen brightness on and off automatic turn to maximum for no reason…

even thought the phone is in locked mode after updated to 6.0.A.3.75

  • Got the exact same problem, have 2 different Xperias S and one is updated, has frozen 4 times today and updated yesterday, the other one isn’t updated and has no issues at all.

  • AVH

the firmware finally hit my phone on O2 about 3 days ago (as I couldn’t update it when it was available on the PC suite). Can confirm now that the battery life has been dramatically improved!

  • josh

Anyone wanna upload the Australian version for me?
