CyanogenMod 10 Alpha for Xperia S released

by XB on 22nd July 2012

in Android, Firmware, Xperia S

The CyanogenMod 10 Alpha, based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, was released for the Sony Xperia S earlier today courtesy of the Team Free Xperia developer team. The FXP130 version brings CM10 with all basic functions working including Wi-Fi, data and Bluetooth, however the camera doesn’t work which is not a surprise at this early stage.

If you are wondering when CM10 for the 2011 range of Sony Xperia phones will be released, the Free Xperia Team says that it will be released as soon as all of the “bugs are ironed out”. Click here for more information on CM10 for the Sony Xperia S.

I wonder if I can flash this with locked bootloader like I did with just root and recovery using another rom on the Xperia S. I understand how you need an unlocked bootloader to flash an alternative kernel but it should work with stock kernel no? any insight into this will be greatly appreciated.

  • DragonClaw

It will not be possible. As none of the CM builds can be flashed on locked bootloader. They need a different kerenl, and flashing a new kernel needs access to the bootloader.
However, this doesn’t mean the JellyBean will not be able to run on Locked Bootloaders. On the mdpi devices, the AOSP ROM works on the ICS kerenl with just a swapped zImage.

I dont agree with you! mine here is very responsive!

HELLO, Many old and new users of Sony are so sad to see this new boring user interface as Samsung used in Android versions. It is not stylish, not pretty. If you would ask us about Androind 2.3 for Sony Xperia 2010-2012, we would say it is good looking. Sony users respect the private design, please do not copy, create new shapes, be higher. We bought, we buy SONY devices only because we appreciate the individuality.
    Good luck, SONY, BE STYLISH!

As you say you have to get use them so there for you agree that are not that responsive so I am not lying.

You have to slide up to use them so I catch the screen protector which is liveable for not but in 6 months time i can see the screen protector coming loose because of this???

It would be nice to have the “option” (its all about choice) of on screen keys as with only a 4×4 grid there is plenty of space to add on screen keys

  • It’s stock android…Not a Sony skin

    Don’t copy please……
