Sales of Xperia Tablet S expected to resume from mid-November

Sony Japan has confirmed that sales of its 9.4-inch Xperia Tablet S will resume gradually from mid-November. Sales were suspended after the company discovered a manufacturing defect on some units that allowed water to breach its water-resistant chassis. This was due to a minor space between the display panel and the back of the product.

Sony is currently offering a free inspection and repair service in most territories, so if you are worried about the splash-proof performance of your tablet you should get in touch with your local Sony centre.

I’ll have to agree with that. I was interested in one, but then sales were halted. And now there’s the prospect of the 10 inch Nexus that’s technically superior and probably at a similar pricepoint. I’m expecting pricedrops soon. Also, how do we know if we are buying a revised tablet? Some stores around here haven’t halted sales.

I had imported one, Not in sale in my country. I didn’t test the splashprof but I’m really enjoying this device. I didn’t want the nexus because no micro SD nor HDMI out nor remote control function. If they support it with good quality software and JB update. I will keep a couple of years undoubtedly. It does more than I need. They should include NFC though

Well, though I agree, I must say that I’m still planning of buying one today. I saw the leaked images of the Nexus 10 and it seems embarrassingly ugly. The Xperia Tablet S may be almost 1 year behind in technology, but it’s still great for multimedia consumption and the only tablet which is not ugly, together with the iPad. And nicer to hold too. Being in the cutting edge of technology is nice but overall feeling of the product is more important.

I give you that. S is not ugly, it’s OK, way better than samsung or any other, but running a crapdroid is its biggest issue. Put windows on it and you have a winner.

Got Tablet. Very nice but for one very annoying thing. WiFi. I called tech support, changed WiFi settings to never turn off but guess what still turns off randomly. Said if that doesn’t work call tech support again. Very annoying. Hope they fix with upgrade. Please Sony don’t disappoint me on this. I got the tablet and loaded all my favorite stuff on it and don’t want to start all over.

- @Weevelberry Maybe also try a 3rd party camera app to rule out software. You can try Camera Zoom FX on the Play Store for example., May 17
