in Xperia J

The Sony Xperia J smartphone has now started to ship in a number of territories around the world. The handset has already been on sale in Hong Kong for over a week, where it costs HK$2,098, although you will get a free screen protector and 8GB memory card for a limited time. It went on sale earlier this week in India for INR 16,490. In both cases, only the white handset is available.

The Xperia J is also available sim-free in the UK from today. Handtec have the handset for just under £180 in stock in black and white. If you’re on the O2 network however you can pick it up for £169.99 on PAYG. The handset is also expected to go on sale in Russia from today. It’s probably popped up in other regions too, so let us know in the comments below.

The Sony Xperia J is powered by a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7227A chipset with Adreno 200 (enhanced) GPU. It will have a 4-inch gorilla glass display with FWVGA resolution (480 x 854) and supports 2-finger multi-touch. Other features include 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD memory card support, 1750mAh battery, 5MP camera and VGA front-facing camera.

I feel that the J is a bit overpriced for its specs… I mean, the U with a dual core costs much!!! Still i very much support Sony’s policy of flooding the market with so phones… And this policy i believe, is actually working in favour of sony!!!! Eagerly awaiting launch of Yuga and Odin!!!

Too Pricey! I Love Sony Phones but they are priced at premium over here in India. 16k is too much to pay for a Single core Droid. One would rather buy a (now discounted) Xperia P.

Uninformed consumers think bigger screen is better value for money

Sony uses quality materials and great display. So price ill be little high. If you need mobile for cheap then go for Samsung. Sony customers ill not need low quality products

I prefer the look and feel of an Xperia, however Nexus 4 is nearly same price (299$ unlocked), but with quad core, 768p display, 2gb of ram and an 8 MP camera module from Sony. Not to mention OS updates for years to come.

Go hell with the J, I want V, when will it be available in India??

  • bva

limited to 8gb/16 gb storage, and not waterproof.. quad core will not make a real life diff. unless apps begin to be optimized for 4 cores…. but the adreno 320 will make the diff. … tough call! based on needs! :D … i lost 3 phones to water :P so xperia V it is!
