Sony C530X ‘HuaShan’ pictures leak

by XB on 28/01/2013

in Rumours, Xperia SP

Images of what is believed to be the upcoming Sony C530X (C5302, C5303, C5306), codenamed HuaShan, have leaked. Pictures of the LTE-enabled model (C5303) were left anonymously on the forum at German site USP-Forum.de. The images look legit to us, with the About screen showing that the handset is running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, firmware version 12.0.A.0.298 and comes with the 3.4 kernel.

The pictures appear to show a prototype version of HuaShan, sporting a silver (or transparent?) chin on both the front and back of the handset. The pictures also confirm that it will use the new signature power button as seen in the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z. Some kind of screw towards the bottom of the power button may also suggest that phone is metallic – could this be the spiritual successor to the Xperia P?

In terms of what we know so far about the phone, it is expected to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics. It will also feature a 720p display. We look forward to hearing more details about the phone shortly, perhaps at MWC next month.

    Kewl!

    Ugly

    Generic form

I’m guessing 720p 4,3″ (from text size and close up sharpness). Is that bottom bar transparent or silver? Looks like a molten Xperia S.

same thing I heard when the first xperia z leaked out

  • kurtdean

but turned out to be beautiful

  • http://www.facebook.com/lee.y.le Lee Yin Le

I suspect a return of the transparent strips from NXT series.

  • kurtdean

yea its 4.3 and its xperia P successor

  • wim den boer

The silver shin is also transparent! Look at the light shadows

  • tk007

tranparent bar wow sony the best !

  • lander

Indeed. This reminds me of a smaller ZL with a few twists. Not bad Sony.

  • Bashar Enjarini

it is awkward to see the bottom bar in the first image but not in the third one !!!

I don’t like the curved back

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

Is it just me or does it look like that the transparent strips is not only on the bottom of the phone but also on the side?

  • madao

Its transparent. just look at it closely… in the first picture, the surface of table can be seen in the bottom bar!!

  • Keon Fraites

Yeah from the looks of it, it seems to be Transparent due to we can see the same shadow gradient of the background onto it.

  • Basri

Yes!! i hope this will come more colour led like xperia u!! cant wait hear that from MWC!!

  • weintor

Nice! this will be my phone!

  • Keon Fraites

Very nice looking device, Looks to be a transparent bar strip instead of silver due to the same shadow gradient and texture of the table is seen through it, and also the back of the device seems to resemble the layout of the Xperia Go. Looks very interesting.

  • http://www.dastardlyreport.com ryaninc

I think it looks fantastic. Bring back the transparent bar, I say! Also, with a 720 screen, I bet it’s only 4.3″ or so, which is great for those of us not excited about hulkin’ 5″ monster phones.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mysteryweb Weiking Kuan

I like everthing except the transparent strips

  • http://www.facebook.com/mysteryweb Weiking Kuan

    true…

  • http://www.facebook.com/uqix.pake.x Rizky Maynanda

I hope its screen size is under 4 inch..
I want a not-too-big phone with high specs so bad..

  • PriceTag

The “silver” bottom is actually transparent (you can see the texture of the underground). Also it seems like the back cover is removeable (look at the edges) –> removeable battery???. If the Power button is the same size as the one of XZ, then this device is about 10mm of thickness. The transparent bar might also include the antenna just like xp (there are two vertical stripes inside this bar, which indicate this as you can see on the righter side (front pic; left side on back pic).

it vl b 4.2″ as per the previous rumors of Sony device with 368ppi…..

The back looks so ugly! :(

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

U jelly? upvoting your own comment kind of shows it

  • Ameer Zul

Wow, This actually looks like K770i. K770i was awesome and so does this one

  • Quark Gluon

Nope, I just don’t see any transparency on the side of the phone. And I didn’t upvote my own comment. If I was into voting and jealousy, I might downvote your comment as well.

  • shanefalco

    this design is horrible…bleah!

  • Ryan

Then you have a serious eyes problem.

  • Nikos Kakogiannakis

Well to be honest is the first Sony device that seems so indifferent to me ,nothing new ,nothing to remind Sony

True. If this design had a flat glass back a la Z it would be stunning. Now it’s just ok. Normally I should be very enthousiastic with the come back of the transparent strip but the lack of some similarity to the Z (family identity) and the generic rear kill it for me.

Looks like a prototype. Encouraging to see a dedicated camera button though!

  • roeshak

It is, is not, a measure of gulf that exists between android devices and the iPhone that mid range androids are higher speced than the iPhone.
it will be interesting to see if this too comes with HDR video as that is supposedly implemented because of the quad core power.

“If this design had a flat glass back…”. Glass back, one more side of a phone prone to shattering.

By the way, you’re somewhere with no even surfaces, where do you put your phone if needed, just for a few seconds? These phones slide down on my (at the back) elevated laptop. You can’t put them on your leg while your sitting, they slide down.

What the hell is a glass back useful for except the ‘Oh look, i’m a tarded nerd who thinks those shiny things are so super blingy and useful’-effect?

  • Paul

Same hope here. Would be a fine replacement for my ray.

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

it doesn’t have to be transparent, its just the material looks similar, i said the strip. They could’ve use the same material to go around the device but just not transparent

I do not understand why do they need it at the end. NXT series shows that the transparent connect two parts with nearly unseenable wires.

  • Guest

I will be all over this curved back if it meant that was a battery cover for a removable battery. Too bad a P successor is not going to have that.

  • CW Chow

My phone is mostly lying on my office desk when I am in office. I guess a phone with curved back would wobble when I am using it on a flat table?

  • razec

4.3″ is the sweet spot for every smartphones imho, with average sized fingers, a qwerty keyboard on a 4″ phone still looked tiny, I’m 5’7″ tall and my hands are average sized and to tell everyone I’m having hard time typing on the Xperia P’s default keyboard. I downloaded swift keyboard as well as the smart keyboard pro but the virtual keys are just as big. I played with an Xperia Arc before and it’s easier to my fingers to type

  • razec

I think Sony should make a waterproof version of this, and not make this thing waterproof itself, since that particular feature alone will make it $100~ more expensive. and not everyone needs a waterproof device.

i have been using the iphone 4 without a case since launch an despite having glass black and front, it has fallen several times on hardwood floors, concrete sidewalks, parking lots, metal stairs in the toilet once and in the shower a couple times as well and it has made it through all of it with very little cosmetic damage. Now being glass it obviously can break but i should be tough enough for your daily endeavors

Design purpose? Maybe it’s a reuse, since the transparent strip was once a highly-received design.
