Xperia M_Press_3Sony Mobile has lifted the lid on the Xperia M (C1904, C1905) and its dual SIM variant, the Xperia M dual (C2004, C2005).  These handsets adopt the OmniBalance design of earlier 2013 Xperia handsets and a notification light similar to the Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR.

Sony is touting the NFC sharing ability of the phone, a feature not included in the Xperia E. Under the hood you get a 1GHz dual-core processor,  1GB RAM,  4GB of flash storage (2GB available for apps and media) and a microSD memory card slot. The Xperia M has a 4-inch FWVGA display,  5MP camera with HDR for photos as well as a dedicated shutter button.

The Xperia M has dimensions of 124 x 62 x 9.3 mm and weighs 124g. Both handsets are due to go on sale during Q3 2013. The Xperia M and Xperia M dual will be available in Black, White and Purple – a Yellow colour variation will also be available for the single SIM model.

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

  • http://www.facebook.com/kero.keropy.5 Kero Keropy

no.. it’s not even released… comparing to samsung …. but people like you only complain only for sony

  • http://www.facebook.com/kero.keropy.5 Kero Keropy

will the price at the same level with xperiaE?

  • m sacha

Not complaining merely stating my opinion…

  • Ben-Amie Lim

Looks nice. Almost similar to Miro in my opinion. Wonder how much is it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/uqix.pake.x Rizky Maynanda

Pretty nice phone with a compact size (it’s the size of Xperia J). No Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 720p only video recording. It’s okay for an entry-level smartphone.
Hope Sony release this with a good price. :)

  • SSyar

In Feature tab, under Battery & Processor it says 1.7GHz,.,.!!

  • Jaouad

I wonder whether they go for the whole alphabet. Not that the name really matters for me :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/uqix.pake.x Rizky Maynanda

And if you hover your mouse on that image it says “This Xperia smartphone has a quad-core processor.” LOL!

    Xperia M Dual – 4.2.2

  • Rizky Maulana

    M for Maulana :v
    yeah……..

  • Ambroos

It is very, very likely that the Z and ZL will be updated to 4.2 before the M Dual hits the stores. The phone was just announced, don’t expect to see it before August.

  • Ambroos

Will be from €230 to €250 in Europe, depending on the country.

  • afzal zainal

    Entry level.. Device but awesome

  • Danzel15

Don’t forget about the rumored xperia honami and togari…. not that I’m complaining cause the specs for honami is delish!!!! XD

  • blitz_arc

its a 4 inch low end phone bro.. just another option for another range of consumer. so,whats the problem?

  • Synonymous

Sony, I’ve always loved your designs and I really wanna have that purple Xperia M. But the only thing that disappoints me is the bezels. This phone isn’t IPXX so it should have lesser bezels. If you manage to make one (Xperia ZL), then why not in a low/mid-ranger? I’m currently using Xperia V (4.3″, W=65mm) but as time goes by, it seems that the bezels are growing. While Sammy fitted 4.3″ on S4 mini with only W=61mm. Just look at the white Xperia M @ Sonymobile, you can clearly notice the bezels.

Sony, I know you can fit 4.6 inch screen around 64mm. It will sell like hot cakes, IMO. Still waiting for a bezel less mid-ranger from Sony. :(

  • Max

    http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/Xperia_M_dual_WP_1.pdf

According to the white paper (which is the gold standard, no transcription errors):

    “Operating system Google™ Android™ 4.2 (Jelly Bean)”

  • Max

It said Q3 in the PR which is July to September. I’d plump for mid to end July on the basis that SMC have said previously they want to reduce the time to market of their devices. Announcing now and releasing in August would go against that stated goal.

  • Anzilleo Kristello Mozihim

Don’t forget that the 2012 devices are actually left overs from Sony Ericsson.
And still not as many as Samsung.

  • trgdfgdf

The different b/w Samsung and Sony:

+ Samsung: many phone but support very good.

+ Sony: many phone and…………quit ASAP. So, xperia ion no info about JB now hahahahhahahaha, Xperia News don’t know “one or two weeks” LOL

  • Carljn

As far as I know Samsung has updated six phones to JB. Impressive, right?
That is 6 out of 62 phones released last year..
    Good support you say?!

  • trgdfgdf

Sony good support so ion no jb update now, 1 year 1 year, Samsung Galaxy S2 2 years before will get JB 4.2 in the feature. Abou: Xperia S, ion, Acro S: “flagship first 2012″ but now NO COMPLETE JB update And NEVER Get 4.2 !

  • Mercast

A great phone for people with low budget like me. If it’s around 200€ in Europe i’ll definitely buy it!

  • APai

if m gets 4.2, then sony is working on 4.2 for all I must say. that is good news :)
Z will get it for sure, and pretty soon too (but i don’t know what soon actually means by sony’s yardstick)

  • Jason Wang

Bezel less seriously? Do you know that any part of your hand can touch the phone?

  • Jason Wang

Still looks better than a Galaxy S4.

  • blitz_arc

for me, the feature that sony has place in 4.1 is already the best. i dont see any big reason why i must whining to get 4.2 like there is no tomorrow. unless my phone is full of bugs, that makes me change my mind. sony make the bast update, so please..what really samsung offer you in those update my friend?

  • Ali Alkhazal

    Yet, another Xperia phone

  • Lucian

I really don’t know what is very good support that you speak of Samsung… Did you know that since galaxy S2 they had 129 phones? And did you know that only 10 phones received Jelly Bean update? This is very good support? Hm, interesting..

  • blitz_arc

wow,did you guys realise that xperia M has transparent UI?? how awesome it is! look at here, http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_m-pictures-5497.php

  • Jason Wang

Oh my ***, wait Jesus is that you?

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

Jesus, get your shit together and stop commenting. Go feed the hunger

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

It’s not going to come out now is it? It would probably come out when Z/ZL get their 4.2.2 update

  • Jason Wang

Poor illusioned Sammyboy. And yes, the Galaxy S2 looks better than both the S3 and S4.

  • Jason Wang

Q: So what exactly are you missing in 4.2?
A: I don’t give a f***, give me my 4.2 or this will be my last Sony product ever. *cursing and swearing*
    Typical commenter.

  • Max

Switched from CM10.1 Sensation to ZL and I miss the Dashclock widget.

  • Jason Wang

Yet another person who needs to get a life.

  • trgdfgdf

I don’t say about how many phone will get jb, i say about time to get it. Same only “flagship” of Sony always slower than SS, HTC and………LG hahaha

  • Herman

What did the UL have to do with the U again?
And what kind of device is the VL?
I’ve never heard about the AX.
What’s the difference between the Acro HD and the Acro S?

    Damn, I thought I knew Sony :(

  • ShinOrochiX

    You forgot…

    X10™ mini
    X10™ mini pro
    Xperia™ Arc
    Xperia™ Arc S
    Xperia™ Neo
    Xperia™ Neo V

  • Ali Alkhazal

  • John

    what about Neo L

  • Anonymous

Xperia L got a new update now!

  • https://twitter.com/rgxVOiD naathaanS

How can I get this time machine of yours? Seems like you’re from 2011

  • Billy de Fretes

Acro HD only released in japan… just like AX, VL

  • kust0r

i’m afraid there’s no way it will be priced around 200€ soon. perhaps 249€, not less and i hope not more (there’s a quite similar 299€ xperia L).

  • Billy de Fretes

i already seen 4.2 in nexus 4… do i need update? nooo… the only problem is xperia ion.. my friend Acro S just update to JB but he just like most acro S and xperia S user that i know, never had any problem with their xperia.

So what the point getting 4.2?

  • Sheokand

these names are much better if you compare to the current one’s..

  • Tom Di Tota

Yet another sony phone, yet another lack of LTE.

  • xperiajapan

And the Xperia E release in December, but he has the new (revolutionary) button.

  • xperiajapan

Between the Xperia E and the Xperia L, I think, depend of your contry.

  • Michael Hofmann

What about all the japanease carrier varients e.g. Xperia A, UL

  • Michael Hofmann

Xperia E was announced december, released 2013

  • Guest

Sorry, I’m french, I’ve inverted the vers to release and to announce. Sorry …

  • xperiajapan

Sorry, I’m french. I’ve reversed the verbs to announce and to release. Sorry …

  • xperiajapan

The xperia Zr is the international version of the A. I’m pretty sure no international version of Xperia UL exist.

  • Gitarooman

sony, just focus on mid to high end models, price drop old one for low end.

  • sXs

Will you stop making new phones every month…Look at samsung.. success is not in multiple phones

  • James

since when did sony make an xperia NX phone or have i been living under some kind of rock in the 20th century

  • Xlash Andraid

You know? I was crying (not literally) because the stupid tendences of making bigger and bigger phones with the time. I’d really hate to have a big junk when I’m on a call, I’d look pretty stupid as the people who use a galaxy note 2 for this, for example.

However, I love SONY devices, but their options for small handsets were really disappointing. Xperia Miro is not that good, nice looking but a very weak hardware; E and Typo are just horrible. J is so plastified and also, 1 cored processor is a joke (we’re in 2013 already!)…

Until today: Xperia M is just what I think I want and I need. Decent hardware and very good for a phone, perfect size, beautiful appearance, and Jelly Bean. This one is going to be definitely a hit, and I’m considering this and L over SP or ZL (both are too big and too expensive).

Good job, SONY, now work more in faster updates and you’ll destroy your competitors.

  • Desmond Toh

They seems to be making phones faster and faster

  • Jason Wang

How much did Samsung pay you to say this? This is way too obvious, since nobody in their right mind will say that Samsung has great support.

  • Desmond Toh

That means they still have a lot of stock for mobile handsets to play with, with advance android update, i guess they can think of many brilliant apps or functions

  • dvlZz

    i buy if 100-150$ unlock…. :D
    just for BBM…. LOL…

  • DoucheyTuesday

M for Magnificent… I’m going to buy 100 of these while i wait for the Honami.

  • MyLive

If we look at side of the phone, design is combining omni balanced from Xperia Z and Xperia T with rather curvy back.. :)

  • OnePerWeek

Boring. Please Sony, 5 phones a year should be enough! Make your goddamn “flagship”, an entry level phone, a midranger and a CAPABLE camera phone. That’s it, and there’s even room for one more, say, one with a hardware keyboard.
5 specialized phones would probably appeal more people than 30 devices that usually don’t differ an inch!

  • DoucheyTuesday

Wang is paid by Sony to write fanboy shit here..relax, his comments mean zilch!

  • DoucheyTuesday

The Xperia Z has been sold with the slogan ‘the best of Sony in a smartphone’ so how dare their users expect the best available software! Spot on, Wang.

  • Jason Wang

Name me one feature that you really like in 4.2, with the exception of lockscreen widgets, since that is probably not going to happen. Or just root your phone and change the version number to 4.2 or 5.0 for that matter. Feel better now?
And no, I don’t get a single cent for saying this. Just trying to knock some sense into the crybabies.

  • Jasonwsc

Really??!! And thanks for telling me how insignificant I am.
    Relax, DoucheyTuesday’s comments mean zilch!

  • Caesar

downloading xperia sp new update now~ hoping is new ui!

  • Fauzan Mars

    Agree :D

  • Fauzan Mars

haha are u sure….. i think many new samsung phone for this year…LOL

  • Fauzan Mars

i’m sure the price below Xperia L…. maybe $249

  • Fauzan Mars

less bezel can make your hand easily touch to the screen… i think, it;s enough friends :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/M.khired Mohammed Khired

why did make that stupid comment ?

u know lots of x-sheep here will attack any body prefer non-Sony products , right ?

  • Ivy

    Nice!

  • Meelo

The front camera is only for video calling? You can’t take a picture on xperia m’s front camera?

  • Mr. Potter

I fucking agree! big display + big bezel = jerk monster phone

Sony should make 4.3″ flagship with bezel-less design, that’s perfect size!
