Awesome – watch it Samesung ;-)

I use the Sony lt28h to fuck your mother, Sony bitch.

  • joshua

    is there any bugs?

  • ion

I use the ion to fuck your mother, Sony bitch.

  • Nils

    where are you from?

  • Ambroos

I flashed the Generic Spain update with EMMA!

  • Mohammad1233214

Can I use DASH CLOCK with this update because Now it’s says that’s it’s not compatible

  • Ambroos

Haven’t noticed anything so far. It’s a bit slowish the first half hour (if you flash without wipe) but once the cache is rebuilt it’s very zippy.

  • Nils

Ah, OK. I dont wanna flash my device

  • Ambroos

With flashing I just mean updating. Just flashing stock firmware with Flashtool is exactly the same as updating in PC Companion, there is pretty much no risk.

  • roeshak

Xperia ion still waiting eh! Well what can I say but good luck to all you chapies lol

  • Nils

And is there any diference between Spainish and Global or rather German version?

  • AsadMulla

Quite impressive. No big hoo haa from sony about the update and its already here. I suppose Sony were concentrating on the Z more then other handsets and thats why other devices are lagging in updates. I AINT COMPLAINING I have xperia Z

  • AsadMulla

Waiting now for ftf. anybody have it yet?

  • Ambroos

Nope! All Generic versions are pretty much the same.

  • KubsiJack

    relevant?

  • Nils

OK, and how do i flash my device?

  • Ajay Mathew

when does this get released in India?

  • Aves

    When will be in poland?
    I CAN’T WAIT !!!!

  • Arokhantos

    shitsung

  • SonyFan

was meinst du mit “with EMMA”

    mit Flashtool oder?

    Got the update :)

    and here is root!

    enjoy!

  • Ambroos

I first flashed an older Generic Spain with Flashtool and then flashed 4.2.2 with EMMA. Real EMMA EMMA :P

  • SonyFan

    okey i understand…

  • SonyFan

    haha so sieht es aus…
lade mir gerade die spain generic 4.2.2 runter…grrr ich werde cache auch wipen…um möglichst wenig bugs/laggs zu haben

  • Nils

but to use the flashtool you have to unlock you bootloader an this avoids the warranty wright?

  • Mark

Nothing yet. UK seems to get these things last. :(

  • Nils

aber die garantie erlischt, wenn man den bootloader entsperrt, richtig?

  • Kon Zumi
  • Keon Fraites

    WOOT time to check :D

  • SonyFan

man flasht die stock(original) firmware…also soweit ich weiß…nein…

ich hab mein Z gerooted gehabt…jetzt aber nicht mehr…

noch 4 min dann ist down fertig…

  • Babylonbwoy

you were saying the same about sony few days ago, jumped on the bandwagon ?

  • Babylonbwoy

    don’t worry, france too!

  • Ambroos

Nope, no unlock needed for Flashtool. You can find everything on XDA.

  • Nils

Weil auf der Sony Seite steht, dass das so ist, und da muss man auch IMEI Nummer und alles angeben. Oder gibt’s noch ne andere Möglichkeit den Bootloader zu entsperren, als über die Developer Seite von Sony?

  • Keon Fraites

PC companion update also, Xperia Z update not as yet for me though

  • SonyFan

um den Flashtool zu benutzen braucht man den bootloader nicht entsperren…meins ist auch locked…und ich werde gleich die 4.2.2 flashen

  • Julio Spinoza

    And now…

  • tolb niasu

    will XS get 4.2.2?

  • Nils

Ich probiers einfach mal mit gelocktem bootloader :)

  • dimos

    xs users started again ;D
what special does 4..2 have for xs?
anyway its 90% sure that we WONT get jelly bean 4.2 as qcomm wont probably release 4.2 binaries :/

  • Adrian Bator

Probably no but you never know as it seems that sony has learned their lesson releasing many updates for XZ in short period of time. Hopefully they will release 4.2.2 for XS as weel as it is a really good phone too. :)

  • SonyFan

  • Herman

You forgot the Xperia Ion’s Jelly Bean update.
    Just like Sony, apparently :p

  • Jemarhel Supriana

yes you can use dashclock…. i already installed it on mine

  • jagger_augustine

nein root ging weg nach dem .253 update

  • Julio Spinoza

I think Samsung has great update service, but the phones and the UI is exactly the same for all the phones, you cannot notice the difference since S3, and the build quality is poor for nowdays

    geht direkt

  • AsadMulla

I have a UK generic handset. I have updateed using the “build.prop” edit. You only need root for this method. Flash tool works also but ftf files are taking ages

  • Mike Gonzalez

i bought 1 from Amazon Germany even tho i live in Spain and im so freaking tired of never getting updates!!! or getting them 1 month later or more… (still in .253)

4.2.2. home screen widgets not working. if I try to add i get the message Unfortunatly, Xperia Home has stopped working.

  • Babylonbwoy

I’m not sure 100% but if I remember correctly when I had my Xperia S there was a blogpost by Sony about the AOSP project for XS where they said that they will still develop rom for S until 4.2.2. It was some months ago and maybe they changed their mind, anyway I’m sure I have read this.

  • AsadMulla

Lock screen is very nice. Keyboard feels better. Quick settings is nice. Very nice small app to capture screen shot and then draw on it.

  • AsadMulla

office suite pro also included for free. New sound recorder

  • Julio Spinoza

Yes, you are correct, but the program was canceled by google and Sony tooked the project, you can check it here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/xperia-s-aosp-experiment-ends-with-new-direction/

  • Mark Curran

I have to say I’m a little disappointed in the 4.2.2 update by Sony. Here are some of my grips.

    1) The screenshot option is now gone from the power menu.

    2) When you set a custom wallpaper its now not set by default on your lock screen. Also, if you then decide to set the same wallpaper on your lock screen its not centred the same between the wallpaper and lock screen.

    3) The new lock screen feels sluggish and takes a good 1-2 second to load for me.

    4) The notification and quick select bars are no longer what I would call dark black, yes they are black but not as dark as in the latest 4.2.1 updates from Sony. I wonder why they keep messing with this.

    5) Camera load is still slow, around 5-7 second.

  • http://twitter.com/YourManAdrian [A]dri[A]n

Sony is on a roll. I must say, I am very impressed by the speed of their updates. At least for these two devices. This is how you support you flagship devices, Sony. Good job.

  • Martin Ambre

    For all S series user
    S, SL, Acro S

Sony provided shit load of bugs and they plan to solve it by next year

  • RyanTunechi

Hello, I got the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on my Xperia Z device and it works perfect!

  • Cristi13

I don’t want to hate or anything but 5 months after release isn’t exactly fast. I really don’t know what is sony’s definition of “soon”. Anyway see you when the next android version will be released(and i’m also talking to you sony).

  • Raddad Radaideh

    where do you live ?

  • zzzzzzz

I have just updated mine a few minutes ago through PC Companion!

  • miz

Is there wireless dual shock 3 support with this update?

  • Cristi13

The amount of hate towards Samsung here amazes me. What Samsung did to Sony that makes you guys taking this kind of cheap shots. We should be telling/helping Sony to improve(and trust me they have a lot to improve) rather than bashing everything that is not sony.

  • lasttodie

  • asas

As a Xperia S owner i can say i couldnt be more happy with the 4.1 update. No lags, great ui, great camera, maybe some glitches which are already being fixed.

Personally im not expecting anymore huge updates for XS. Its amazing as it is with JB.

So, no, I couldnt ask for more :P

  • Mahesh

    Power+volume down button

  • Rammstone

Wha-wha-wha-wha-what? Am I as a Sony owner going to have the NEWEST android on my phone?

  • Arokhantos

Their corrupt company that give the middle finger towards customers instead of fixing their crap.
They hire techicians with poor eye sight so they don’t have to fix it, because if he can’t see a problem then their nothing to fix.

Would just like to add. In order to access developer option to enable USB debugging in Android 4.2, you need first go to settings / about phone / and press build number multiple times. Its will then say you are a developer. Now you can see the developer menu in settings.

Finally! Now it as smooth as my sister ZL which base on same firmware as well.

The smoothness is back, not like previous leak .407 which not so smooth.

Camera quality is back! Superior Auto is working fine!

Too dark area, is better use SCN – Night Portrait.

Camera quality is outstanding, by far the best I ever seen.

Attached with some Indoor snap using Superior Auto Mode.

  • Andrew Tan

    1) That one I agree, no point Sony taken out.
    2) It never can do that, always need to set separately.
    3) After a while, it will run smoothly.
    4) It never is pure black at notification part, it always is that color, you probably use too many mod until forgotten.
    5) Camera load is fast for me, only took 1.5 seconds from lockscreen and 2 seconds from app drawer.

  • hitesh

Well as Xperia S, I’m happy with 4.1 now

I just hope Sony would be better handling updates for their next device, starting now

and I would buy Sony phone again, replacing my old XS for my next phone
currently I very happy with my Xperia S

but if Sony would give miracle and deliver 4.2.2 updates it would be super awesome
and would benefit gaining the trust again to Sony

and I would really laugh at ION user

    Compare to previous firmware.

    My review on camera:

.434 – over post processing, failure output.
.253 – well post processing when using SCN mode. Auto superior generate too many noise.
    .307 – slightly improvement over .253 firmware.
.407 – Superior Auto & SCN mode sometimes generate too much noise.
.423 – The best so far, even auto superior is working perfectly this time.

  • Potato22

kalo dari 253 ke 4.2 bisa gak gan? ap harus dari 307? ane masih 253 soalnya

  • jag

    philippines too?

  • Faisal Armand

Sama, ane juga masih 253 kok..

Kalo langsung lompat ke 4.2.2 kayaknya bisa deh, tapi not sure

  • NickE

Does that mean it can be done without loosing user data? No wipe?

  • jag

i hope its not the case because im stuck with .253 too.

  • Faisal Armand

Sounds decent.. But I seriously hope that they remove or reduced the file overcompression. A file size of 2MB generated by a 13MP camera is untolerable

  • Andrew Tan

It is in between 2MB to 4MB now depends on situation. Actually now it is decent, no much noticeable compression issue.

The pics look great. I always thought the XZ’s biggest downfall was that the 13 MP camera was going to waste because the output images always looked over processed. Now I’d have to say, the pics look less noisier and over post processed.

You kinda described sony there. From what I understand you had a bad experience with samasung, don’t worry i’ve also had a bad xperience with sony( me and other 77million players on the ps3).That didn’t stopped me from buying an xperia s (yet another dissapointment, jb update after almost 1year, that’s not a serious company. Oh and talking about corruption, did you now sony supported acta and sopa? No company is perfect, but I can tell that samsumg is better in many areas than sony. So what about we sony fans do something to try to help sony to go in the right direction. But i can tell you,as much as we want, sony will never be that big as it was.

    why not use flashing instead?

  • Rob

You must really love your ion then! I mean if you’d rather pleasure it than yourself, thats love

  • Marc

Hi..u flashed it using Odin or pc companion? I’m from Malaysia but no ota for me :(

“and I would really laugh at ION user”

Why? For what reason? Simple pleasure of a dumb man. You really are such a tease?

Do we know when 4.2.2 will reach the other phones?

  • XZ User Msia

i want to flash the unbranded spain firmware too.. but what does it mean when it states “NFC Icon : no” in the thread ? i’m from malaysia too..

  • less

lol thats not an issue at all. It simply means that when you on your nfc, it wont show the icon but of course it will be running. I think i like it without the icon to save space on the notification bar. Dont you think its annoying being there when turned on? Plus, it barely consumes battery at all so i have no problem turning it on all the time now without having the icon up there. :)

  • Mark Curran

Small yes albeit annoying, expecially points 1 and 2.

  • Philip

  • eternal optimist

I look forward getting this update on my unbranded UK handset, it will be a great Christmas present.

  • less

i did not do a full wipe when flashing it cause i wont be able to restore my backup files on previous version after updating to this new software. So after i flashed it, i back up my files and data again to SD card, then only i reset my phone to wipe everything off and restored back the files after that. So far working smoothly without an issue :)

No. Make sure you uncheck data before flashing so you don’t lose anything on yr phone. Warranty is only void when you unlock bootloader. Don’t forget your only flashing an official Sony rom. You’ll be fine

HOW, i have a UK unbranded Xperia Z,

NO update for me on PC Companion or SUS :-(

  • Guest

Yawn, 72 hours after an update released and you’re already ditching the brand….
Besides, Sony have done their part, they made the update, it’s your carriers / country who have to clear the firmware before it can be released to you, guess it’s sonys fault for releasing it as early as they can, unlike apple who sit and wait for all clearances then push it out.

  • Guest

Nothing on SUS or PC companion for me.BTW UK unbranded also.

  • Richard

Yeah I’m the same, could it be the network we are using our unbranded phones on I’m on Tesco Mobile which uses the O2 network? I’m still on 101.A.1.434

  • Jonny Love

O2 updates tend to be kinda of slow as during the network testing they like to insure all there own o2 apps work smooth with it. Understandable but still doesn’t explain why they are always one of the last to push it out. Testing a few apps compatibility could be easily done in a day

  • Pingback: La mise à jour Android 4.2.2 en cours de déploiement pour le Sony Xperia Z - Dépannage informatique

  • Richard

I understand they need to check their apps but I’m not with O2 and don’t use their apps. I purchased the phone sim free, its unlocked/unbranded so surely the update should be available via pc companion or SUS independent of the network I’m using to make my calls. Or is that not how it works. I know it’s not the end of the world but it is a bit frustrating.

From what I’ve researched Triluminous display is what they’ll call it on the TV’s and X-Reality is what they’ll call it on mobile, it’s all backed into the BE2 chip so porting is relatively possible, but highly not probable from Sony.

Note: Some updates are Carrier Specific and will take some time for Generic version to release.
Since this is an OTA Update, It would be rolled out gradually, hence it might vary across different carriers and countries.

  • Johnny

Same here mate, don’t know what Sony is playing at. The sim free phones should be updated to 4.2.2 first, not the branded ones i.e vodafone and 3 etc. We might get this update for christmas,if we are lucky.

Can anyone temme that does the update via sus wipes your pre-existng data or you need a micro sd for backup???

  • limo

Options for both, you can select top option, without wiping out data. However, previous update 1/4 occurrance where phone keep restarting, so required full flash/wipe out all data. You should decide to take this 25% risk or back up first.

after update to android 4.2.2, there is no option for screen shot when you press+hold power button. why is this happened? can someone explain or can it be fix?

  • solved your question eleganty

i think only Sony can answer your question “why *has* this happened?” as for the screen shot thingy, you can long press both Power button and Volume down button simultaneously, or you can use the Clip Manager small app in your small app drawer. you can even edit the screen shot, but the screen shot will be saved in the Notes instead of Album. You’re most welcome. ;)

  • Shakya

This Realy is a cool feature
