XperiaZUltra_FamilyIf the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is currently on your wishlist, then you may want to see how it fares against the rest of the 2013 Xperia family. Obviously in terms of power, the Xperia Z Ultra is unsurpassed given the inclusion of the Snapdragon 800 chipset, however the 6.4-inch FHD display may end up being just too big for some.

The main limitations against the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL in particular is on the camera side with a 8MP Exmor RS sensor versus 13.1MP Exmor RS for the Z/ZL. It also comes with no LED flash, which may be a big deal for some. It’s also a shame that the Xperia Z Ultra doesn’t have the infra-red sensor as seen in the Xperia ZL. Anyway, if you want to see how the current 2013 Xperia range compares against each other, then click through below.

the xperia ultra is so beautiful why did they have to make it the size of a tablet atleast make it the size of the note 2 :(

it is even more beautiful than the z and has a better screen they managed to curve it without ruining it’s design and i am really impressed by that

i also love the fact theres a steel frame around as i remember my xperia z catching alot of fingerprints at it’s frame

why did they have to make zu so big :(

  • Mike Gonzalez

well because it’s too early for that, im sure Sony’s flagship for 2014 will be something between a Note2 and a Xperia Z Ultra in terms of size and design respectively

  • Ben Ling

    XperiaBlog,some corrections here

    Xperia SP Battery Was 2370mAh
Xperia ZL Battery Was 2370mAh too
And Xperia Z Ultra Battery Was 3050mAh

  • hans

Trust me, the Next Note 4 will match up Xperia Z Ultra size ;) and all Sammy fanboy will praise it lol, like if in 1 years time they will have bigger hands HA!

In serious note, more people i see around here going on with a tablet, especially girls. So it is very likely that market is going that way.. So 6.4 inch might be the next ticket for popularity.

  • GeeKLoRD

^ The only reason I’m getting the Honami :)
Oh, not to forget that monster of a camera, and the new UI! :D

  • P9

still looking forward to see mini version of Z with stereo speaker, camera bottom…. ~ should be “experience the best of sony in a mini smart phone” :)
so that Z has 4 version: original, tablet version, phablet version, and that mini version!

    :) sony ftw.

  • Lustie

That’s why many people chose iPhone. Android phones is fucking stupid, bigger and bigger SHIT!

  • XperiaBlog

We have quoted the minimum battery capacity, hence the ‘min’ next to Battery. All of the values we have in the table are correct for the minimum capacities.

  • Jhonbert Magana

Use it as mini tablet not a main phone. Like ipad mini.

  • Ben Ling

    What’s the different then?

  • Jhonbert Magana

They should have advertise it as a mini tablet. To avoid confusion.

  • lolsomany

i thinks xperia ZR is actually mini version of z

  • Ashad Mamood

They screwed up there. Such a large screen and only 3000mAh battery. Note 2 has 3300mAh and a smaller screen. No IR either!

  • ang

I don’t want Z – I want ZR (or ZL). Fuck you Sony.

  • sfordesign

‘cuz android’s innovation basically stops, so the only thing they can do is to make shits bigger and bigger

  • Herman

    To confuse confusion.

Because a ‘tablet’ sounds like it can’t make phone calls.
Some weirdos invented the word “phablet” for that.

  • Kevin

They choose iPhone because having one makes them think they are the best of the best not because there is no innovation.

  • ffet

but you can’t get it anywhere :(

  • Jhonbert Magana

    Mini tablet with phone functionality.

  • Angel Morales

go to Europe that’s where i got mine.

  • ffet

it isn’t available in Europe – except like 3 selected countries. and costs more than Z :/

  • Synonymous

Sony chose thinness over what really the consumers want. Imagine if Z Ultra is around 7.5mm thick (its still thin for me), then it could have 3500mAh, LED flash, camera button, IR sensor. *sigh*

  • Almost

    Z Ultra is almost perfect.

  • A Chai Yuth

    depends on market lol

  • Abdullah Robben

why do not you by one?
i have xperia zl and it is very good
but xperia zr battery is better becuase the screen size is 4.55

  • talkmob

you can get if from negrielectronics.com, they ship anywhere

  • Netto Dashius Hexareus

Umm actually, it’s been widely known as “phablet”.. ;)

  • Mac

Hoping for a improved ZL with led illumination bar, waterproof, bigger battery, s800, I don’t care how thick it is as long as it keeps the other dimensions down. Even a 4.55 screen is better. I like the ZR but still I would miss having a good front camera, IR blaster and ofc the internal memory is 2 small!
Oh n, 2 Gb Ram, wifi AC like the ZU. Well that’s about it I think. Or maybe the Honami if it comes in a smaller form factor than said.

  • Ashad Mamood

Let me know after you use it and find the battery life to be poor

  • Emanuel Mc Person

There’s only one thing I would complain about Sony… I bought Xperia Z beleieving it would be Sony’s flagship for the year… As I did with the Xperia S and Arc S… I mean When am I supossed to buy my Xperia knowing it’s the best of Sony….???

  • roeshak

I initially thought that togari would be a direct competitor to the note 3. 6.4 inches sounded huge but I expected Sony to use the same design language of the ZL minimising the overall size but what they’ve released is a device in the galaxy mega and Huawei mate category.
The note 3 is expected to launch with a 5.7 inch display and 3gb of ram with the 800cpu. It may actually even be of similar proportions to the note 2. That sounds like a more mainstream device. Don’t think Z ultra will be able to compete with that for sales. Another missed opportunity by Sony. This device is over kill in some areas like display andsize and lacking in others like memory and battery capacity.

Let me know after which part of almost do you not understand?

  • Martin Ambre

Sony forgot the Bug users of Xperia S Series fones…..
Acro S is becoming a pain

  • http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2926289 Jasonwsc

Quit whining about battery life until you actually see the phone. You are just “jumping the gun”. Sound familiar?

PS Triluminous and Snapdragon 800 are quite efficient. We might be looking at Note 2-like battery life here, without the plastic and Amoled crap.

  • http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2926289 Jasonwsc

U mad bro? I don’t think Sony wants your money… Probably end up giving them nothing but trouble, like some users of the former flagship…

  • JimSix

ZL is almost perfect, i just hate the back of it.

  • Sadab Khan

Any news about the xperia honami gentleman?

  • Gaston

The xperia zu has no led flash? That’s almost as ridiculous as the bugged as fuck jelly bean Rom for the xperia s.

  • ang

I wish I could but in my country Sony is offering only Z :/ I envy you

  • ffet

thanks, but with all taxes it would be cheaper for me to buy new iPhone and I would still have some to spare… not to mention varranty – it’s not worth importing

  • Gregorian

I know. The beast looks so awesome in so many ways… and then they give it a second rate camera and no flash.

Always one thing to ruin the party.

  • Abdullah Robben

what about Xperia ZR? it is better than Xperia ZL

  • daniel

So do iphone not getting bigger but getting taller. :-)

  • Honami
  • Mac

Actually I was waiting for the ZL when it was about 2 roll out but it never did here in Sweden so I had 2 choose from xperia v, Ion or acro S since xperia T/TX never made it here as well. Anyway I got the acro S because it attached me most as the ZL never came. But now the ZL can be bought at some places here but not in a nearby store so I can feel it and, yeah u know once u had a water resistantto phone u never go back ;-).

  • xsJB

    It’s July 8, where’s the update for Xperia S / SL / AcroS/ Ion ??!!??

  • Twit Gadget7

    News : http://tny.cz/793bfa41

    Thanks…

  • CLB

The Xperia ZL has got a 2370mAh battery, not 2300 :p

  • ang

    I know :/ As I said – not available :/

  • ang

yes, those stupid customers – they want to buy your product and they want you to fix bugs in them… only Apple managed to train theirs well

  • Abdullah Robben

oh man where do you live?

  • Richard Paul Francisco

hope sony will relaunch xperia z with snapdragon 800 plus ip58 plus better speaker, camera button and triluminos display please

  • DeLorean75

I chose the Xperia ZR. It’s not perfect, but damn close. The VGA front camera is a joke, but the rest fits me just fine. I don’t need 5 inches or a ridiculous ppi value. I want a snappy phone, I can handle with one hand. Just need Android 4.2.2, then I’m set for 2013.

  • ang

in Europe… probably wrong part of it -_-

  • john

Yeah this is what I was looking for in a phone. I need a large screen phone, 6.4 sounds perfect. I just don’t understand why with such a beautiful phone they’d install a terrible camera and no flash. Do I have to wait for the Ultra 2 ? I’m pissed off that the Samsung Note 3 is reportaly only going for a 5.7″ screen. Sony, NO LED FLASH, ONLY 8MP CAMERA ( I really want this phone even though I’m a Samsung fan BUT I won’t buy this phone, Sony dosn’t care about it’s customers by installing a second rate camera and no flash, it’s a joke)

  • Angel Morales

sounds good your one of those iPhone clones!

  • Lord Mada

    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • ruba

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo xperia z ultra doesn’t incorporate IR remote (infrared)!!!!

    why sony why??!!!!!

    hope honami incorporates pleaseeeee!!!

  • ruba

yes, except for some details: flash and IR remote T-T

anyway I’ll buy this or honami… or both

  • Richard Paul Francisco

    zr>iphone5

  • Kjetil B. Thomassen

You are missing ANT+ in the table above. The Z Ultra has ANT+, whereas the other do not.
