Survey suggests people get bored of their phone after just 4 months – how about you?

Sony Xperia modelsPeople are always looking for the next best thing, it often seems like as soon as one new mobile has been formally announced, people already looking to see how it can be improved in the next version. Whether this is down to new software, camera improvements or new technology such as fingerprint scanners or better displays, the pace of innovation continues to grow strongly.

O2 recently conducted a survey in the UK that showed it takes just four months on average before people start to get bored of their phones. Other highlights from the survey include a quarter of people become bored within just one month. Nearly two-thirds admit they would change phones even if their current handset worked perfectly well. “With technology advancing by the day it is perhaps little surprise that the initial euphoria of owning a new device wears off faster than ever,” said David Johnson, General Manager Devices for O2.

We have to admit we’re always looking over the horizon to discover the next best thing when it comes to Sony Xperia phones. Judging by comments here, it also seems that many of our readers get itchy for something new not too long after owning a new phone. So we thought we’d ask the question – are you generally happy with keeping a phone for the life of your contract? If not, at what point do you start to look enviously for something better? We’d love to hear your thoughts below.

  • Uchiha Dare Nial

As a student, yes,I am,but when I look at my wallet,I proudly say nope

  • Kiwison

I bought my Xperia Z as soon as it was available on February or something and I’m not bored, it’s prefect, thin and even I dropped and broke it it’s still classy

  • lovebmw

I kinda do… But firmware updates are always exciting :)

  • adeceku

I still love my Xperia S and I wont replace it until min of 3 years or until it is broken.

  • Ibrahim Yusuf

I don’t get board so easily

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

Still nowhere near bored with my 2 years old GORGEOUS Xperia Ray!! :D

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

    And I wouldn’t replace it even for a Z1 ;)

I’d prefer to buy a Z1 separately but never at the cost of my Ray! :D

  • Makiz

Once upon a time I was swapping phones every 3-6 months…. that was sick believe me! I have the Xperia Z since March and I’m happy with it.. I can wait till the next flagship!

  • ShinOrochiX

Same with my Live with Walkman, only the poor ICS let it down otherwise a great phone. After nearly 2 years I have bought the Xperia L, time/money well spent with the Live! :-)

  • Mac

Man, I’m getting curious when new Sony phones hit the market. And uhm, my acro s is getting kinda slow now so I need a replacement like z1s maybe?.

But if it wasn’t for the lack of memory on my ol xperia neo, I probably still would be using it.

  • Xperia S – still rocks

  • Icefraction

    2 weeks

  • vortex0307

    Rich people’s problems.

  • Alaix

    Every six months.

  • june

    Nicelly said sir! Well agree

  • TimmY

My Xperia T is one year old and I’m happy with it.

  • Exodite

Still quite satisfied with my Xperia arc, which I got on release day (31st of March, 2011).

The only things I could ask for is stronger/quicker browsing performance but that’ll come when I decide to upgrade. Quite possibly sometime in the latter half of 2014.

  • shah

let’s see, i stayed with my walkman w810i for 4 years. I had to change it because it keeps rebooting randomly. Amazingly any other smartphones i used from that moment, till now, galaxy mini, asha 200, blackberry 9790, none really give me the same feeling as the W series. So yeah, planning to go back for a sony when the z1s is out =)

  • Deki

I got the Z1 two days ago. I had Xperia S almost a year, but my brother was really nervous with his old X10. The touchscreen was not working quite well, after hitting the floor three times, so I gave him the XS and got myself Z1. It’s awesome! We’ll see how much time I’ll have it…

  • Gary

Love my Z, it ain’t going anywhere :-)

  • Ben Lim

I love my xperia Ray, but I dropped it and it broke. :( Now I am using Ray’s big brother, the ion.

  • RayAnn

so do I…Ray was awesome, i still keep it as mp3 player & alarm clock & backup phone. the last of SE legend that worth keeping :) sadly it was never updated past Gingerbread coz it always failed to update :(…it’s good for what it is though.

  • Martin Ambre

I plan to change if there are no updates of Android Kitkat for my Xperia acro S

  • HardyHarHar

I only planned on switching to Xperia Z1 mini soon due to me hating HTC now…

Yeah it’s because of the purple issue on HTC One.

  • Mac

gotta love the w810i! All the good stuf in the same device.

  • Clarence Alvarado

From Xperia Arc in almost two years to Xperia Z1, This will be another 2 years for me before I switch to a new phone. Maybe the Z3 will.

  • Kimmy Stylelove

Nope.ive still use xperia active.Old phone never make me bored

  • Wei

Xperia X10 for more than 3 years

  • Vinícius Azzolin

Honestly, I still in love with my Xperia neo. I think when something has quality, it can make you keep your interest for much longer than just four months.

  • y2k

No if that phone is great enough

  • Ben

I would have stayed with my Xperia Arc if the hardware is still competitive.

  • Harut Hajin

I Love My All Sony and Old SE Phones , Now I have Z and want to buy Z Ultra , but I waiting 2014 CES .

  • cs098

If there are custom roms and continued dev support, I will never get bored of the same phone.

  • jangaleon

I can’t let go of my xperia p. I just love the design.

  • Gareth McStravick

Yeah im never bored with Xperia phones, despite Sony’s lack of future support from 2010 phones til 2012, rooting is your only option. With that rooting gives your phone another 2 years i think! I have my x10 since 2010, running 4.2 custom JB and its perfect. My wife now has that phone and still going strong. She loves it after bored with the iphone lol As for me I went onto Xperia Neo V, had that for 2 years and my mate loved it so he bought that off me! I now have an Xperia Z since a month ago, and one word for that phone is its timeless. My favourite Xperia and just wants to keep on going. I will never get bored of Xperias, they always have an afterlife after official support!

  • Sumedh Patil

Obviously if a quad core comes in market nobody would love a dual core phone. Technology getting upgraded at a faster rate can be a reason. Because nobody wants to be a part of an old tech, which is actually not that old !!!!

  • [csizor

No, I don’t. Playing with some improvements, Android tricks or custom ROMs makes impossible for me to get bored of my beloved Xperia.

  • Zeke

    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.
With chrome accents!!! How could anyone get bored with chrome accents.
64GB SanDisk extreme, 1800mAh battery and tooled up kernel/ROM.
It’s my daily over an XPERIA S all these years later.

  • xperiaDROID

To be honest, I get bored with my phone after few months. I’m currently using the Xperia Z and I was thinking of upgrading to the Xperia Z1, I can’t decide whether I should upgrade or wait for the next flagship, and many people told me that the Z1 is not much of an upgrade from the Z. Well they’re right, the things that are upgraded from the Z is just the processor, camera, and the screen. And also, the price of the Z1 is much more expensive than the Z when released that time.

I still love my Xperia Z, I’m glad that I didn’t upgrade to the Xperia Z1. I’m waiting for the Xperia Z2.

  • lucasarg

Xperia U… I want a Xperia ZL, So much :c

  • xperiaDROID

Get a Xperia SP, you will be happy with it.

  • lucasarg

it’s not aviable in argentina :c… in some days i’m going to buy the ZL :DDDDDDDDD

  • xperiaDROID

Yeah, wallet is burning isn’t it?

  • xperiaDROID

    Good for you. :-)

  • Nameless

Because new awesome phone coming out very fast. In the future maybe less than 3 months ppl will cry for new phones. :)

  • mita

I find myself always tempted to replace my current XV for the newer xperia flagships, but my XV is an awesome device though. I don’t think I will replace it for another 3-4 years, if only Sony would be more active in updating the firmwares.. sigh

  • Billy de Fretes

high five bro.. the same reason i didn’t sale my xperia Z.

  • XperiaFan

Thats true, but no everyone can buy a smartphones every 3 months, I have a Xperia Arc S since January 2013, i wont replace it utill may or july 2014 :(

  • LT22

+ 1 .. Same here .. Bought my Xperia P Nov 2012 with GB then got update with ICS and with jb .. Now in a jb custom ROM (Honami MoonWalker) which gives complete look and feel of z1 .. Am not bored with my mob at all .. Last month I unlocked the BootLoader and flashed Nemesis Kernel and now the device s flying with butter smooth and no battery drain, no lag at all .. Soon ill be in KitKat as already CM based KitKat s almost ready !! But I wait on Sony to give 4.4 to z1 then sure I’ll get Sony stock based 4.4 ROM for my device !!

  • Uchiha Dare Nial

I also have my Xperia mini pro with me despite I am using an Xperia ion :))

  • KuroSyamito

Well, i think that’s why we have firmware update. every new firmware updates are like a refresh of love to the phone. well, it’s December already. my phone is waiting to refresh the love. Android 4.3 for Xperia Z please. :)

  • NNN

I still love my 2 years old X-Ray with with brand new kit kat…
Xda is the key to unlock the boredom…

  • mahdi

Everyone knows the technology goes faster than buying a flagship.

But the only thing which keeps people to be happy about their phone is OS updating

Sony you should manage update processing.

  • vigneshprince

actually if ur mobile has every thing u needed then u wont get bored! I’ve got Xperia Z and not bored of it! I’m loving it cause its unique!

  • vigneshprince

i had live with walkman, such a good phone and amazing speaker but only thing missing is Bravia Engine and phone is small. so i sold it to but Xperia Z! but no mobile can replace it in speaker!

  • vigneshprince

ION has a great display am i right?

  • vigneshprince

yeah me too love my XZ

  • vigneshprince

May be ill wait for Z3!

  • vigneshprince

    ZL is good!

  • Oliver

Change every 2-3 years. I’m still happy with my Acro S though the micro SD card flap already fall out. I’m waiting for flagship without the lousy flaps. I kinda hate it now.

  • vigneshprince

    yeah me toooo

  • shah

u said it! =) i still remember how u can customize the icons from different icon packs and pushing it via an app (i already forgot its name). Also the camera was a carl zeiss lense and the sound was good too =)

  • J N

gets bore by using android sw,, its not even stable to operate for long term usage.
its better for sony to enter into its own s/w platform,

  • Chetak Parate

Amaze the customers with actual 18 months support for their product, by rolling out every iteration of Android OS update within same period, customers would keep their cell for more than a year.

  • APai

    marketing has won!

  • The Rock

People overvalue what they are getting and undervalue what they have. That’s just human nature or ‘us’ and we’ve been spoiled by all these companies releasing high tech gadgets so fast. This effect is just going to become worse heading to the next generation. Heck even kids nowadays are undervaluing what they have. It’s sad really, when you think about how lucky we are to actually have a choice to ‘get bored’ of a gadget when they’re are others in this world who don’t even know what a gadget is.

I don’t get bored with my phone and I usually change phones 1-2 years time. I appreciate what I have.

  • spatch

I used the Xperia Arc for 6 months, then bought the Xperia S upon release. I was happy with it for a year, until Sony announced the Xperia ZL. This is a beautiful handset that I think I can be happy with long term — at least until I see what Sony announces at CES next year. If I don’t see something in the next flagship that truly outshines the ZL, I’ll probably keep it for at least another 6 months.

  • josesl16

I bought my Xperia P around one and a half years ago, which is about a few months after release. I wanted to buy The Xperia S before, but seeing how many bug and defects it had(sincerely thank you forum guys!), and how there are little support for those issues, I decided to buy the P instead. The P has a few bug/issues that were improved updates after updates, but it never bothered me too much anyway. Until now, I am still satisfied with my phone, and I look forward to using this phone for another 1-2 years. Despite delayed updates, it still serves really well as a Sony smartphone. I mean, just looking at the back of my phone(oh shiny smooth back unibody design <3) eases me that my P is still an awesome phone that I wouldn't mind using for another few years. Although, it's not rare that I'm tempted to buy a new Sony phone(looking at you, Z1 q.q), considering that it would be even better in processing power, smoother, and it would solve my 720p 10-bit video playback problem. Plus the fact that I'm a heavy user and that Xperia P has a small battery capacity doesn't help, really :p.
tl;dr: So, No, I’m not bored of my Xperia P after 1.5 years, and I would eagerly wait for a huge upgrade in around 2015/2016(lol, I hope I get a flagship this next time).
P.S. my Xperia P is running the latest stock JB with a custom kernel, rooted, and unlocked bootloader, so mileage may differ.

  • Purnama

still satisfied with my Xperia P ^^

  • josesl16

Ehehehe, that smooth back metal and transparent bar, can’t just get enough of it~

  • Purnama

so happy to see another Xperia P user… ^^

  • Vhan Modders

Still loving my ZR, maybe till next 2 years. :))

  • DaRk MaDnEsS

there is a diff between getting board and getting a new phone.
yeah i got board of my Xperia z but won’t replace it cause I’m still in love with it.
it’s like how 2 lover live there live before marriage (Normal Human Behavior)

  • loco_loco

I miss smartphone with classical keypad like the XPERIA X1!

  • loco_loco

What about the Xperia Pureness’ translucent display :D?

  • loco_loco

No, maybe we’ll wait for Sony to launch the next flagship model “Xperia Z1 Pureness” with large translucent display. *just a joke*

  • Pantelis Papakostas

Hello. Usually i buy a new phone every year. And i start to look for something better 4 months, up and down, before the contract ends.

  • hans

The agony happens when you are a paid worker, with a family to feed and you have just enough money to do both but no saving on that month.. o_O

  • hans

Still holding my Ray even though already moving on to Z Ultra :3 but yeah, the Ray was one hell of a phone, a Gig of RAM and double the battery is the only thing that i hope it can be upgraded with. But other than that it’s perfect phone :)

  • kalyan

    Xperia S still rockzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…… :) :)

  • karamelakimo

i’m happy wiz my xperia z after 8 months :D

  • Babylonbwoy

    you save 700€ a month ?

  • Babylonbwoy

It is not with two flagship a year that sony will change this behavior

  • RyanTunechi

    I’m bored with 1 month..

  • Babylonbwoy

of course it is more expensive, people were crying for better camera, now they put a bigger/better one it is normal that it cost more than the Z… And the next one with a better audio chip if it happens will cost more than Z1…

And yes Z1 has nothing to do with Z, only omnibalance design that is common all the rest is different

  • Pingback: AndroidSPIN | UK Poll Discovers That People Get Bored Of Their Phones In Just 4 Months()

  • Daniel Danny Paparella

I change my phone every 6 Month

  • asian101

I tend to agree (in my case, I get bored after 5 months the most) . I also tend to always purchase the latest one too, and not only Sony phones. Which gives me the reason to cringe. Instead of purchasing the latest smartphones, the money should be in my savings account accumulating interest. Damn these Android smartphone manufacturers.

  • arcu de triumf

My wallet says: not so fast pretty boy :D Who can afford to spend 500-800 USD every 4 months for a mobile? Not me. That limit is because of Samsung and others who come up with new models every 3-4 months.

  • Daniel Danny Paparella

yeah, the good old sony ericsson phones!! i have very much of these @ home for example the K850i, S700, k610i, P990i and so on, i have even an 11 jears old, let me call it “not-so-smartphone, the P800 and it is still working!!!

  • Sonylovers

nope, still going strong with my xperia V. probably will change to a new phone in the next two years though…

  • Harut Hajin

But When You want buy Apple , You proudly say YEH YEH YEAH . Its mean You are not a Sony Fan

  • Uchiha Dare Nial

I buy apple only for source of food lol

  • Sami Mrabet

I Always buy my phones without a contract so i can buy a phone whenever i want and can afford it :D

  • neville chidawanyika

    Xperia T for life

  • Eugene

Yeah I admit I got tired of my phone for that same period on average. But frankly speaking I still have my Xperia Z and not yet tired of it, it’s been almost a year that I have this. Maybe in my opinion is the design of it that I’m still proud of and haven’t got tired. Design is almost future-proof that I think can last 2 years (standard contract period in my country). I also have galaxy note but after 3-4 months and want to sell it already.

  • Victor Ling

unfortunately for me, i am in the ‘one month’ section…its not that i dont love my xperia z1, but im constantly wanting the latest and greatest…one month and i can say i’m almost bored…

  • Tinpilot27

    Lovin’ my XZ!! very classy!

  • Tinpilot27

Nope, still lovin my fact until now, Im still fascinated with the design and the built quality, truly amazes me

  • Dmitry Perets

IMHO, If you buy a phone using the popular (and sick) “give me the best specs and the latest build” approach, then of course you get bored with it after few months. “Shit, I bought S3, but there is now S4; I bought 4.1, but there is now 4.4 – I am soooo screwed!”. As for me, I am really satisfied with my phone, the build is stable, the phone is very pleasant, I use it a lot for a wide range of tasks. So no, I am definitely not bored with it! And the last thing I want is to become somebody’s QA with the latest builds or to beat my neighbor with a bigger screen…

  • lunkz

    ” General Manager Devices for O2 ”

    Says everything….

  • ElSayed

    NO never bored

  • pain six path

Every year one phone,,x10 then arcs then t,,and now z1

  • Sonny

I think there are no more new features in the smartphone and people may more focus on the apps.

  • lol

give to my mom and she using it now

  • lol

i always bored when looking at my L so i turn her back and smile at sexy curve

  • Sxanko

    Sony Ericsson Elm !!!

  • Mohammed Khired

i bought xperia z1 by (accident) from ebay , and im getting it tomorrow..

the question is : would i regret buying this phone ?

coming from xperia s which have served me for two horrible years , every second of every minute just pain in the ass to this , xperia z1

simple question : would sony fuck me again like what they did to me with my xperia s ?

  • gatchaman

Yes I rocked that phone for 4 yes too! Loved it, decent camera for the time, great walkman app! Fun customization! Got the Xperia TL. Good so far. One more yr till contract is up and then will see what Sony has to offer.

  • adeceku

Yeah, older xperia phones had better speakers, i have x10 mini pro and it is much better than the xperia s speaker

  • Yoda

Very well said. I couldn’t agree more. I do love these high end tech stuffs we’re getting but at the same time shouldn’t we step back and look at the things around us? I would say 1-2 years to switch phones.

  • Tech Gospel

Design of the ray was incredible. I wanted an updated version… quad core (I need it to multitask a lot), 2x battery capacity, more RAM. Was happy with the screen. I have a Tablet Z if I need a bigger screen.

  • Z1man

    i bored z1 can’t custom rom.

  • Amir

    are you high?
Z1 is one of the best premium smartphones ever. just make sure you update it to the latest firmware before using. it improves the camera, screen, etc.
if you don’t like it send it to me.

  • Amir

lol, are you sad because you have the luxury to replace a phone every year? i buy a phone every 4-5 years – my iphone 3gs works very good. i’m not sad. i will replace my phone next year with 64 bit xperia. if you’re still sad then give your phone to some poor man from africa. maybe then you will be happy.

  • Amir

then you’ll have to wait longer. Z2 won’t show at CES. it will show maybe at MWC, maybe.

  • Amir

i had my first cellphone in about 2002 i think, it was a samsung phone with blue lit small display. had it for 4 years, then switched to SE w800i – great phone. had ot for about 5 years, then switched to iphone 3gs i have for 4 years. next year i buy 2H xperia flagship. this is how everyone should buy phones. spend your money elsewhere. don’t buy a phone every 2 years. it’s kind of stupid imo. unless you have plenty of money and you don’t give a damn about money.

  • Paul

Ahh sorry to read that. I dropped mine countless times (on concrete ground, even). It looks beaten and bruised but it still works perfectly.

  • Paul

They could update it if they wanted. Quad core would be nice, but i guess in such a small size it would be difficult to implement the fastest power house. Something like 3.5″ – 3.7″ with the S200 or S400 chip, 1-2 GB ram and a nice battery would suffice completely for me.. oh, and of course KitKat.

  • Cristi13

Well after one year with xperia s , with all the late and shity updates i finally moved to a s3 (with official 4.3 update) and i advice to all the owners of old xperias to move away from sony (i know I’ll get flamed for this but it’s my opinion).

  • Ben Lim

    yes it does :)

  • Mac

Yea, actually it’s my all time favorite, sadly my screen broke when hitting it in the sofa :-, but I have it still working and with a new screen installed like 3month ago when I found a cheap replacement.
I would love 2 see a new xperia version of this classic. I want Walkman buttons and awesome sound, and camera button
and great camera. Like the sp design n size with z1 waterproof, s800 n all the good stuf n IR Blaster from ZL.
    Now we taking!

  • [A]dri[A]n

    Sounds about right for me.

  • Harut Hajin

OOH Your Joke is killing Me , SONY FOR US NOT FOR ALL

  • P9

imagine if sony make 2 nd version for all 2011/2012/2013 ;) lww2, xperia P2, xperia tx2, xperia v2,
    interesting! ;)

  • sisore

    Not quite for me.
I would only buy a new phone if it is more befitting than my current phone. That being said, not every new phone during the whole year cut out for me,

  • arcwindz

Well, when you think along the line “in the next 2 years, the phone will have better technology”, no you don’t get too anxious about new phone

  • Amir Salach

    After quiting from sony ericsson and trying all their phones every day for fun on my every day;

    i got the Xperia X1 and enjoyed the best keyboard for a year;
    then i enjoyed the Xperia X10 with android for the first time for a year;
    then i enjoyed the most AMAZINGLY looking phone which was the white Xperia Arc S for 2 years;
for 5 months now i have a gorgeous looking water proof purple fast phone which is the Xperia Z!! all the way!

only my imagination can ask for more now that i have this made of glass waterproof Xperia Z!! [=

  • Naman Soni

Nopes… using my xperia mini pro for more than 2 years and fully satisfied with it and love it !!

  • Jeo

SE X10 for two year (with lot of mods to make it perfect).. Finally got Z and having it for half a year now, not even think of getting “better” one.. Maybe getting flagship model in year 2015..

  • piotr

I have the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini pro 2.5 years and still love it … the Ray was and still is the most beautiful phone,

  • Christian

My so’n Ericsson k750i need upgrade to kitkat!!!

  • johnylim

For me, its around 1 year now.

  • Chris
  • roeshak

Well it’s not just about phones. It’s all material things. You get a brief buzz from them initially but after a few months, it dies away.
That’s why you should never invest that much emotionally in material things.
People these days don’t have any proper hobbies to give their lives proper meaning. That’s why I started playing the piano again three years ago. The best move I ever made.

  • Mohammed Khired

understand my question first then answer.. my question is about sony support

i got it today , it’s flawless , snappy , every thing is good except the screen ,,

colors production and viewing angle is same as the xperia s , i wont judge the camera until i update the phone to the latest frimmware…

would you buy my xperia s ? LOL

  • Amir

Sony improved their support for firmware updates and you will surely get 4.4 kitkat next year. it’s good thing.

  • zerocools

who wouldn’t save that much a month?

  • Banjo Bill

    XPERIA V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,

    but Xperia Z1s….. oh lord!!

  • Brad Williams

Got to admit that about 3 months is my threshold before boredom. But I will always force myself to wait at least 12 mths before I change phones. The one exception was my little X Arc, loved that little phone. Shame it only had 500mb of internal. But I happily and faithfully put up with that for nearly 2 yrs, until the Z came along.

  • Maca WI-FI

  • gunboat_d

I suppose people who buy unsubsidized handsets use their phones longer. If people had to pay the full cost up front, they might treat their phones better and appreciate them longer.

  • Ray

I love my Xperia Ray!! Bought a Xperia S after a year using the Ray and I have both phones working perfectly for me now (except for the Ray being slightly laggy). Both designs are irresistible and performs daily tasks well, and I’m never going to replace my XS unless it’s broken.

  • hoomi_xs

Yeah, still loving my Xperia S, no need to buy a new one, wish we could have Kitkat on our mobile though

  • Dakota

Kinda ashamed to say it since I’m so against capitalist greed, but yeah, I get bored with my phone way too easily, upgrade it once, maybe twice a year. Got the Xperia Arc in 2011, the Xperia Ion in 2012, then I got the Xperia T around June this year, and I just got the Xperia ZL a month ago. But I’ll wait till the next flagship before getting a new one.

  • 3rdflyleaf

Xperia ZR could have been the perfect phone for me if it has at least 16gb internal and at least 1mp front cam. I wish Sony will release a succesor of it. The size is really perfect.

I really think Companies are one of the reason of this issue. If only they release balanced specs phones.!!

  • 3rdflyleaf

Don’t forget the arc and ray!!

  • 3rdflyleaf

I loved my xperia ray, but had to sell it to buy a new one. I owned x10 mini and I really like it, I would have kept it forever but it was stolen :(

Now I.m planning to buy ZR, Xperia ZR could have been the perfect phone for me if it has at least 16gb internal and at least 1mp front cam. I can keep it for another 5years if the software and OS won’t demand higher power. I wish Sony will release a succesor of it. The size is really perfect.

I really think Companies are one of the reason of this issue. If only they release balanced specs phones.!! Specially Sony, releasing perfect designed phones with UNbalanced specs!

I had the exact same feeling! Until I replaced it with a new HTC ONE mini which did the trick quite well ;p

    Sony Don’t Care About Us :D :D

No – 4 months is about the time I get frustrated with the phone. 2 updates later, when things have not been fixed, that’s when you get bored of it.

I get bored in 4 weeks I believe!

Got an Xperia Z, waiting to see what the Z2 is like before I upgrade.

i assume people who buy their phones unlocked value them more for longer. when the true cost of the phone is hidden under subsidies, people will only view them as $100-200 toys as opposed to $500-700 computers. i also think that the blogosphere exacerbates the problem by reviewing products against future developments and updates, particularly CPUs and Android updates.

If you get bored so fast you are doing it wrong.

Yep the 4,6″ screen is perfect, I would love 2 have the z1s specs on a SP with waterproofing and IR blaster from ZL.

I think the reason for that is because phone manufacturers keep making newer and better phones sporting the “latest” and “best” in technology. Hence, people are swooned by the thought that what they have in their hands is the most powerful and best in class (but only for a few months)

Of course everyone is aiming for bigger , but not everyone’s wallet agrees , so XPERIA S , 1yr and 3 months already :D

  • indo ultra

this is true, but i guess my z ultra is going to stay for quite a while, its technology is pretty decent for at least 1 year ahead or more. we cannot keep up with the technology and the price we have to spend.

totay agree dude.. personally I want swicth to plastic land, then after some wp8 flagsip device already at the markrt, I want that too.. but my wallet stops me.. lol

More like phone dies within four months, and then needs to go away for weeks. My Xperia Z is now away for the second week, awaiting final testing apparently. Obviously I need my phone for work etc. so went out and bought a Z1 in the meantime (and wasted 2 days moving my stuff over from the ‘backup’ PC companion made).

When I get it back I’ll sell it. The upgrades are so frequent and the changes so incremental, one hardly notices, though things they change can annoy, Swype has become worse, my fault for trusting Sony, maybe I should go back the commercial one that you can customise, and then there’s the clock, some idiot at Sony decided that you can no longer have a large digit one, and you’ll have to live with an old style one with a face and hands.

So long and short, try to make stuff that works. My iPhone 3g (an ancient emergency phone) still works. Though Apple too used to make phones with buttons that wore out, i.e. iPhone 4, that I had to change twice, requiring a full disassembly of the phone. They’re all as bad as each other.

It’s because people don’t know how to utilize their phone like i do. I always put music/movies/videos on my XPERIA Z1 phone. always get nice compliments on my screen
