Xperia ZR_10.5.A.0.230A few days back, we saw a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware build certified for the Xperia Z, ZL and Tablet Z. The same build was conspicuously missing for the Xperia ZR (C550X), fear not though as firmware version 10.5.A.0.230 has been certified for both C5502 and C5503 models.

This build has now been certified for all variants of the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. We would expect KitKat for these handsets to launch within a matter of weeks, if not earlier. We’ll keep you posted.

Damn, I want a ZR, Actually, Its SOOOO Cheap

  • yongt

Finally!!! The ZR have to have kitkat

  • anon

And after that plz bug fix for z1 including overheat and camera lags.. Tks!

  • Shravan SP

I’m so lucky to get a ZR. I was about to buy SP but then zr was like a value for money. It was a bit costlier than sp but way more features.
SP is a mid-range phone and it got only 1 major update and doomlord said that they are not testing new firmware whereas for ZR, it has got 4 android upgrades(4.1-4.4) and two bug fixing updates.

  • Djocker

    Update so long….

  • Killian Khoo

yup , that the main reason I got one of it xD
And having a spec similar to Z and ZL ~

  • Z family

aaarggghhh!!! sony’s killing me with the wait! T_T

    @XperiaBlog : Update- Check out xperia longue from T2 ultra…new offer available…redeem 3 movies :)

  • Tim Vels

Took the same decision as you. It was 10 grand more but still went for it :)

  • Shravan SP

Oh!! That’s quite a big gap. Here it was 5kINR costlier.
    Around $80USD

  • Shravan SP

Before it was like that. Now ZR and ZL have the same price tags(in India) waterproof+compactness+gaming=ZR
    Large screen+more memory=ZL

  • Tim Vels

No i meant the price between SP (at Apr 2014 lowest at *new* around 15k INR) and ZR (Lowest 23k INR). If everything were right I would have gone for SP. It looks cool!

I think am about to sell my Xperia sp and get Xperia z

  • George

i am lucky to i was buying xperia sp price difference was about 80-100$ but i said for myself better to get ZR and i am happy because SP got so many problems with 4.3 update

  • Patrol619

If they are not testing 4.4 for SP then why the hell there is still on their support page “Under investigation”??

  • kater

good news~ but when will the update started……maybe next week or next two week?

  • bob

Can a date be specified for the start of rollouts? More specifically in india???

  • Mahinthan So

But miraculously Xperia ZR is expensive than Xperia Z in Srilanka.
Xperia ZR = 452$ Xpeira Z= 383 $.. I bought 1 week used ZR for 306$ I was about to buy Xperia C.. But for water proof , 2GB ram and the deal guided me towards the ZR

  • Sam Albalushi

I want a better camera in this update and i love my xperia ZR

  • amit

Please add the feature to move the apps to sd card in kitkat 4.4 update
Otherwise this xperia zr is dead waste
Xperia c is better if we compare to xperia zr only in this case

  • Shravan SP

I don’t know about that sry dude. But doomlord tweeted that he contacted a few ppl in Sony and said that they are not testing any builds for SP :(

  • Shravan SP

I don’t think you can move apps to SD even in Xperia c and it has the same internal storage as zr

  • Vinayak Mehra

Damn Z is too cheap in SL as compare to India

  • Jonfensu

You can easily root the phone and use FolderMount

  • Ritwij

    Get a Z1 Compact instead

  • Pingback: ???????????????? ?????????? ?? Android 4.4 KitKat ??? ????????? Sony Xperia ZR | IT-Info()

  • Robson Kanyama

Makes sense I think I’ll do that thanks

  • amit

Rooting the phone is different story dude
We can do it, tht is your own risk
And xperia c is having the feature that we can move the apps to sd card

  • sadzrowner

well they better fix that wifi problem (association rejected) before anything else if possible

facing consistent issue on the bluetooth function with my xperia zr as
it is unable to detect any devices. not that i dont know how to get the
phone discoverable and set the visibility timeout. i even tried
reseting the phone to factory setting however it did not work out.
finally had to go to xperia support center who replaced my handset over a
period of 7 days. really appreciate the efforts however am facing the
problem with my new handset too. this one however detects the devices
on some days and goes on and off. also when it detects it faces problem
transferring the data as the files dont get sent to other devices. its
really sad that after investing so much money (30 grand) the product
fails to deliver on basic functionalities (yet to test the waterproof
gig…am scared though !) i am sure it is some manufacturing defect /
hardware issue as i even tried the phone / software repair option
available through pc companion. have raised another ticket and will be
visiting the support center soon. hope SONY corporation takes these
complaints seriously as the phones are not that cheap that we get these
sold in the grey market. and there’s lot riding on your back as people
like me who are die hard fans of your products….its difficult to keep
    that faith going….

  • Mahinthan So

Why not use your SP for while nd get a Z2.. If you can sell for good price then get Z,Z1,ZR
