Seriously the ZR/Z/ZL have some updates at PTCRB and didn’t roll out yet
I don’t know why they can’t simply push updates

  • Yehaa Afandy

I hope both speakers works when incoming call and notification

  • Lawrence

Any words on Xperia Tablet Z update? Been waiting for eons and it stil isn’t available in NZ :(

  • themanspirit

Not to mention, hope Sony have fixed the notification volume issue, improved camera flash, and returned the feature to choose the sound file for countdown timer.
Looking forward to all these, and any other improvements.

They need to fix the phone getting warm when watching videos and doing basic camera function! It would also be good to have full screen dialer than the crappy implementation now and return the blind effect of the lockscreen.

  • themanspirit

Because of the Xperia build materials, they will always feel hotter than the equivalent spec Samsung.
Bear in mind even the iPhone gets hot.
Using a case does not help the situation.
While the Z2 runs warm when pushed, it runs nowhere as scorching hot as the first generation Z/ZL.
IMHO the latest Xperia designs show Sony are improving on heat dissipation.

  • Sony_fan

True but for a premium phone considering its pricing I would expect that such issues should have been addressed already based on past experiences and feedback from their customers. I have both the nexus 5 and the note 3. Both phones don’t go warming up just by streaming Youtube videos or taking pictures with the camera. The only time those phones heat up is when it’s used for graphic extensive games but other the those mentioned the thermal management handles of the phones are like a champ! Not to mention even HD recording heats up the Z2 annoyingly. IMHO Sony should release a more optimized kernel and camera driver.

PS – the iPhone is not even worthy to be put into comparison with the Z2. That phone is a joke ever since they started to copy Google and called it innovation.

Because they need to release the updates to the contractual local partners/telcos in each of the target markets and get an “OK” from them.
Sony’s blog did a nice job explaining the process some time ago, it’s an interesting read.

  • rygarto

Your phone doesn’t get an OS update for all of 1 month and it’s been “abandoned”?
Considering that you are running the same latest android version as the current flagship, I can’t quite understand the logic of your statement.

  • azzido

I didn’t even get 17.1.1.A.0.402 for my unbranded Z2 in Poland yet, I feel like in UK now :(
My firmware is 17.1.A.2.55 and it is not even listed on this picture from PTCRB, is this normal? :(

  • JohnZn_1989

Never heard of this before and doesn’t make sense to me in any way… HTC also got App2SD… So why could Sony not do the same?

  • Niels d. G.

Well moving apps to the SD card isn’t officially supported by newer Android versions anymore, and I suppose manufacturers use workarounds to do so, and I imagine that this is far from ideal and could potentially cause malfunctions in some apps.

  • stryq

Hmm You should have – i have Z2 and have 17.1.1.A.0.402

  • themanspirit

Just confirming you have checked via the latest versions of PC Companion, or Standalone Update Service?

  • Shahab Sadegholvad
