Remote PlayWe already pretty much knew that PS4 Remote Play would be heading to the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, following a slip from Sony. But now Sony has officially confirmed the news in its latest blog post, adding that the feature will arrive “in the coming weeks”.

Thanks Aaron!

    Sorry for out of topic,
Did anyone still have any self cracking issue on your xperia z2?

  • David Hvatov

  • David Hvatov

No. Bought in May. Still no cracking issues.

  • The problem is these next few weeks , it may take months haha

  • Yes included in Android 4.4.4

For me, it was the most obvious new feature from Sony that would make it to the z2 series. The device most capable of it is the z2 tablet because of its large display. It would have been insane to make the feature available to a 4.6 inch device line the z3 compact and not the 10 inch z2 tablet.
In the coming weeks eh! Hopefully the 4.4.4 update isn’t too far away. The z2 has certainly been kept waiting for it for a while. 6 month cycle indeed lol!

When will 4.4.4 roll out for Z2, been waiting too long :(

  • whatwhatster

Hope Tablet Z2 follows soon :).

  • Rifqi Al Fariz

    Sounds great!
have you ever dropped your phone?
    Nothing happen?
How about overheat while playing heavy games?

    Sorry for asking a lot..
I wanna upgrade to Z2 from my Tipo but some issue about this scare the shit out of me.. And Z3 ain’t cheap. :(

  • David Hvatov

Never fropped my phone. I’m very careful with my Z2. Heats well in heavy games, but with SCR10 cover is not so notacible. My friend has Z3 and heats same as Z2.

  • Billy de Fretes

my xperia Z still in good shape after 1,5 years. the only problem is earphone & charging flap

  • roeshak

Thank 6 month cycle for that. Releasing the update to the z2 series will have an impact on the value of the z3 and so they had to wait a while. Hopefully before end of November!

Z Ultra should be one of the first to get this, along with the Z3 and Z2 product line of course.

  • Alexandre

Thats normal, they are the same chipset, just a little overclock diference between them.

  • Luca

    Turn it back on

  • Xyor

I guess the hardware is not sufficient enough. Especially the ram size

  • Jenge Engelbrecht

Blah blah blah, I have been playing with it on my Z2 all afternoon… Works great with a fast router and Playstation plugged in with copper. Both device and Playstation on wifi is very buggy

  • KaZ

RP on my Z Ultra 4.4.4

  • jag

Woah! How’d you do that? Tell me please!^^ ultra user here

  • KaZ
  • jag

Aah.. So you did use that one in xda. Are there no issues with your ultra? I’m planning to root my phone because of this feature. Maybe I’ll try it this weekend. Thanks bro!

  • roeshak

Question is……Why have you been playing around with it all afternoon. No available TV?

  • Jenge Engelbrecht

sharing tv with my wife does not always make it easy… waited so long for this functionality

  • roeshak

It’s great to see it being used. I just doubted how much use people would get out of it and if it would be enough to give Sony any commercial advantage.
Unlike waterproofing on the original Z which had general connotations, this feature at first seemed like a niche activity but the more users enjoy it, the more its popularity grows.
I think though Sony’s best bet is to stick a class leading camera on the back of its flagship devices. One that’s more than capable of producing images that satisfy all including pixel peepers

    Z Ultra????

I’m pretty sure that is ‘impossible’, tap to wake requires the cpu to listen for it. In the Z2 and Z3 there’s a snapdragon 801 which supports it. The snapdragon 800 found in the Z1 and Z Ultra doesn’t, which would mean significant (like, really significant) power drain! It’s not coming, officially at least.
