Unlocked Xperia Z3 arrives on US Sony Store for $679.99; ships 10 November

Xperia Z3 Sony Store USUS Sony Xperia fans may be glad to hear that you can now order the Xperia Z3 directly from the Sony Store. The website has just listed the handset for $679.99 with an estimated ship date of 10 November. This is the global D6603 variant of the Xperia Z3 which brings LTE support with the following bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17 and 20.

All four colours are available to order (Black, White, Silver Green and Copper). Seems like a great option if you didn’t want to be tied down to a carrier such as T-Mobile with the Xperia Z3 or Verizon Wireless with the Xperia Z3v. Obviously, one advantage from buying direct from the Sony Store is that these models will have a bootloader that can be unlocked. Anyone looking to bite?

Thanks Ravi!

    32gb or 16gb ?

  • XperiaBlog

Same as the international model in all respects – so 16GB we’re afraid.

  • DanielGearSolid

dangit. Oh well, something is better than nothing

  • Patrick

    16

  • Eduardo Otero

The only that has 32Gb is the T-Mobile one

  • DanielGearSolid

    One more question…
Any ideas when it will be available in the Physical Sony Store? I have one in my area

  • Keepin it a 100

To bad if you unlock the bootloader you cripple the phone because of the lost DRM keys.

  • jonyah

Based on the title, I thought it said that they are going to ship 10 of them in November. lol

  • MadeInBrazil

Just bought a xperia z3 for 700US Dollars and when i tested it in my pool it broke!!! And sony said that my devide can handle chlorinated water. I used it underwater for less than a minute, i didnt go deeper than 1.5 meters, the ports where fully closed(i opened it after the dive and everyhing was still dry) and i cleaned ir with fresh water after using in the pool. I HATE SONY

  • Billy de Fretes

wow dude.. i always keep my xperia z in my pocket whenever i go to swim in pool / beach. mostly the pool itself in poor condition because you can smell chlorine from 2-3 meters before pool. and my girlfriend acro s (almost 3 years) still doing good.

You can get an LTE version of the Xperia Z3 in Canada unlocked, unbranded for 620 CAD total. And that’s after tax.

  • Jiyeon90

Send it back, they will do a water test and see if the phone was faulty

  • 680 for Z3?! Are you out of your fucking mind sony?!! Who’s gonna buy that lagdroid crap for that kind of money! Dream on and die.

B&H is also taking pre-order for $630 and you also don’t have to pay sales tax in most states. So I’ll go with them. It’s actually cheaper than current eBay prices and I also get the US warranty since B&H is an authorized Sony retailer.

$680 is nothing compared to how much we pay for top end smartphones unlocked in the UK, here it would cost £500 which would be equivalent to $800 USD….so be happy!

  • roeshak

Well I can see where you’re coming from. Z3 to me is in a similar category to the z2,S5,M8,and G3 so don’t think it should be priced much higher than those.
Sony shouldn’t be pricing the z3 in the same range as the qhd 805cpu devices like the note 4, Droid Turbo and nexus 6. They’ll only shift them to true Sony lovers at that price.
I don’t agree with you about lagdrop, snapdragon 801 provides a mostly lag free experience. It’s just the other devices are higher specced and more future proof so the z3 should be priced cheaper. Consumers faced with that price tag for the z3 will be put off considering they can pick up the other mentioned devices for over $100 less.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but my wife’s still hanging on that boring iphone6..I have a Z3… tried to do do some speedtests.. the poor iphone didn’t win one single time…ohhh and then the battery, when we finished she had 5% less on the notification, the Z3? Didn’t even drop 1% … Logitechfan, in 2012 I had iPhone cause it was the best piece of technology around, since 2012 it has been beaten badly, it’s nearly a joke people spending that money for a designed in california, made in china phone. Sorry for my english, i’m italian.

  • USD200 cheaper than in my country South Africa. Hmmm… I wonder if they ship here? :-)

yeah we have uneducated and gullible voters here in Florida not to mention we are in the top 5 most corrupt states in the country, we screwed up two votes in one day reelected the governor who had the worst approval rating in the country…

  • Ivan Prskalo

I live in Bosnia and Herzegowina and I have xperia Z3 for almost a month now (cooper color). Take that America! ;-)

taking a look at verizon’s website the droid turbo and z3v are both 600 while the note 4 is 700. the specs are not the only thing factored into the cost. the materials used should also be considered. iPhone 6 goes for 650 and we all know the specs of that

  • Danny

the only difference between this unlocked one and the T-mobile and Verizon version is the 16GB to 32GB respectively. But it’s a small price to pay for an unlocked, unbranded model.

  • silverfox007

    From where?

  • Adam

Along with Wi-Fi calling support on the T-Mobile USA model and Qi wireless charging support (in place of Sony’s proprietary magnetic charging) on the Verizon Wireless model.

    BIG NEWS GUYS

Xperia z3 LTE is $630 on the sony story now!

  • Z3_SG_Owner

There is QUALITY ISSUES with its WATER TIGHTNESS! … I bought it and had to send for repair the next day!

There is water ingress even with all flaps/ports securely closed while I was testing with a shallow pool of tap water in a container! (NOT Even in Swimming Pool As Gloriously Advertised!)

Lower half of screen also has “clicking sound” when sufficient pressure is applied! (And its not a lot of pressure!).

Local Telco in SG (~oO-Oo~) refused to exchange and direct me to sony service center which also refused to exchange and insist on repair, all in less than 24 hours!

I suggest those who already owns or thinking to purchase Xperia Z3 to test for proper water tightness ASAP before having to be inconvenienced later down the road (with all your data, messages, pictures etc) especially SG users!!! Once you walk out the retail shop, U are most likely on your own!!!

Had been a Sony Mobile user since T610 days and Xperia Z (Still going strong till date)… really disappointed with Z3 and Telco customer service…
Hope this helps prospective buyers make an informed decision….
