T-Mobile Lollipop Xperia Z1sWhen it comes to carrier updates it can be a bit hit-and-miss whether they will bring you the latest updates in good time, or whether it will officially support them at all. Well if you are a T-Mobile US customer running a Xperia Z1s (C6916) or Xperia Z3 (D6616) then you can rest easy. T-Mobile updated its “Software Updates” page yesterday to include both devices.

Right now, it is at the “Manufacturer Development” stage, which means both Sony and T-Mobile have agreed to support the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware update. No word on timing yet, as we’re still yet to get to the testing stage. We’ll keep you updated on progress over the coming weeks.

MWC is over Sony. Time for you to release Lollipop globally. You can’t be slower than this ._.

  • Shaik Farooq

I can tell that it will be released before the end of 2015……

  • Daniel Craig

The whole world has the same thoughts as you. JK I know your being sarcastic. :D

  • Daniel Craig

Totally different phones, Z1s is only available in US.

  • kole?77

  • Daniel Craig

  • Timel

Android sucks and manufacture like shitty Sony make it looks worse…

    make.believe? No that’s completely bullshit!

  • Fiiliip

    Why do you think that?

  • Kharisma Ankh

    What about XPERIA S????

  • mehdicharia

What the hell sony do , all Z’s users waiting for this fucking lollipop and no answer -_-

  • JUST in case Sony releases an update for Xperia E1, will it run the new firmware smoothly? I’m concerned because of the low RAM (512MB or rather, 432MB)

  • bilomar

  • Amel_Marie

You mean update for kit kat on xperia z3 Is rolling out now? Why i havent got that?

  • DD64

Well ART needs less RAM than Dalvik

  • Taras Morales

This article says that they just agreed to use lollipop…meanwhile it will take some time to test it in t-mobile Z devices…

  • Dion

Your opinion we dont care pls fuck off thank you

  • wared

Guys you always talk about sony’s camera software issue, what do you mean by camera software? and what is the issue?

  • so where

Yeah why do you think that?

  • so where

Sony z3 has the best Camera hardware on any Android phone. However the pictures taken are not as good as say the Samsung s5 because the software/algorithms dont have the same processing capabilities. The z2 had the same problems. Simply put companies like Samsung and apple have weaker hardware but stronger software that out performs Sony in most tests.

  • Reza

I’m wondering why the dearest Timel is the only person who cursed sony but at the same time he come here to visit so often… ??? What the hell is wrong with his fcking brain??!

  • Carlos W. H. Sun

  • wared

Can this issue be solved by an update?

  • Carlos W. H. Sun

  • Kaarthikeyan Swaminathan

Coz he has dimensia and is a tinhead. Also he is being paid by some stupid company to do such posts. Thats y

  • so where

Well most commentors say it can be but to be honest Sony doesn’t seem interested in fixing this. Like I said this is something I experienced with my z2.

  • Sathish Kumar

When can I get lollipop update for my Xperia Z1

  • wared

Okay, I hope all the time they take for this update is about fixing this issue.

  • EL Destawy

    Why Z1s take a new software before Z2 ??? !!!

  • charles moore

  • so where

Yeah I hope so. Also lollipop is supposed to have native software that improves picture quality.

  • Aiden Pearce

Ha ha ha..if sony gives best camera in their flagship…all other oems will shit in their pants..but alas sony devs are such ass…in one hand their camera have no match but phones are f**** up…

  • so where

This article is for T-Mobile. The z2 was only an international phone. Usually international phones get updates faster than carrier brand phones.

  • DonOkip

All people here are crying about a update but i preffer wait more time to get a nice update working good than a fast release with many problems like lag, force close app, etc.

  • Nguy?n T?n L?c

Well walkman still hasn’t become music yet, neither has movie become video :v

  • John-Mark Christmas

If you say you’ll focus on consumer experience, you are doing it wrong. It was said that lollipop will be released in February, but, we are yet to see it. What I’m trying to get at is this; You said February, so I expected that to happen. It’s like setting a goal and achieving it. Some days ago (in March) you said soon, with no apology with regards to not pushing it in February. I don’t know how Sony looks at service, but, that is surely not the way. Consumers are not going to take you seriously.

  • Nguy?n T?n L?c

As of right now I want Sony to make sure they fix those stupid bugs in the UI that were shown in the previous screenshots before releasing the update

  • EL Destawy

    I know …
but sony at this time so slowly in Pushing a new update for Z3 or Z2 & i cant understand … why we wait for this long time !!!

  • Reza

    Yeah, I see… What a shame and disrespectful…

  • Reza

Yeah, compared to kitkat they’re pretty fast.

  • Ibrahem Salah

But z2 got a good update i think
it makes it better than it was

  • cüneyt avc?

  • Sweggity

This is Sony… They will release a buggy one in the end.

  • Kaostheory

With Lollipop supporting raw, it could lead to better 3rd party camera and post processing apps.

  • Sweggity

My friends with S5 r laughing at me… I used to brag about how my Z2 is better. They got lollipop and I don’t. -_-

  • dinesh

i think sony will change the UI in the release of z4

  • Vuyo Ncube

*gasp* A wild Symbian user appears.

  • Reon

Everyone says Sony has the lightest modiefied UI. Still it takes the longest time. Weird.

  • Clarence Alvarado

Samsung allows you to take the highest megapixels setting in 16:9… Because their camera sensor is native 16:9. Duh

  • so where

Well that’s good. I can test that though. Sold mine a while ago.

  • David Hvatov

  • nfs2010

If they bump up the resolution in auto mode, night shots will become significantly worse. Current 8mp auto mode greatly minimizes noise in low light shots and is much better than any other android or iphone in the market. And you can still shoot in 20/16 mp during the day using manual mode. So if they change their auto mode to use 16mp, daylight pictures will improve, but then you have to use manual mode at night to get the same quality as you’re getting from current setup. It’s the same amount of work. My priority is low light shots, so I’m happy with the current setup.

  • so where

I’m not even going to argue about what camera is best on the market. I’ll only say this I’ve owned every Android flag ship smartphone over the last 2 years. The z3, FOR ME, has consistently underperformed. I was much more pleases with the S5 when it came to the camera. Low light or otherwise.

  • nfs2010

S5 never came close to z2 or z3 in lowlight. That’s actually S5’s main problem. S5 shoots better in bright light as it captures more details in higher res mode.

  • nfs2010

  • Aiden Pearce

Buddy not all app support ART so be ready for a lot of force close

  • Aiden Pearce

Lighest n slowest maybe now…or…Maybe a*****le sony devs have decided to stay at dalvik…

  • Reon

Not possible. They don’t have a choise like the last time. They would need to recreate Android from scratch to get Android L and Dalvik together.

I bet Sony is too lazy for that.

  • Stephen

    slowly even

  • MhzB00f

  • omar

When the update will arrive to you, laugh at him that his update is not different and yours is totally redesigned

  • Ravi _111

Only for us not india anyone’s can’t help me

  • Sadman Khan

That guy is so annoying on so many levels. :|

  • That good news :D

  • i want lollipop

  • I’m hungry and i want lollipop

  • Aiden Pearce

Ha ha…really like laziest dev i hav ever seen..tuk this much time just to implement the ui…

  • Reon

The UI doesn’t includes the notification as its completely similar to Pure Android..

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

You’re goddamn right. Gosh when will this update land? Or maybe they’ll just change those two apps when we receive the update. Like those two apps are pre-loaded!

  • Amel_Marie

Am i the only one who havent got photo editor update yet? Xperia z3 user, Malaysia

  • Just download the apk manually.

  • But ART needs more space than Dalvik (but not too much).

  • Pingback: ??????? 5 ???? ??????? ??3 ?????? ? ??1 ?????? ???? T-Mobile ????? ?? | ?????()

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

Your a smart guy, I agree with you 100%.

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

But we can’t wait forever. That’s a weak apology if you ask me. Let’s say Sony promises us Lollipop every month from now and then suddenly release it Dec 2015, you’re still going to say: I want my bug-free version, I can wait. I understand them, no worries?

  • Shane

Where is lollipop for my Z3?!

  • Pingback: IntraRecap: 8 de marzo - IntraPixel()

  • hcm.

Z2 is still better than S5, even with Kitkat. What you on about?

  • Hamdulilah! :))

  • Eve Campbell

Get them kids their lollipops soon.
