More official Xperia Z4 renders leak

by XB on 17th March 2015

in Rumours, Xperia Z4 and Z3+ series

Xperia Z4 Render_2A few more official-looking renders of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 have leaked from tipster @OnLeaks. These new pictures reveal the full front and rear of the Xperia Z4, leaving nothing to the imagine. According to the source, these pictures are internal renders of the Xperia Z4 (not press pics) to give an idea of what the handset will look like, however small changes might be made up until launch. This is perhaps why the ‘Xperia’ logo is not seen on the back of the device.

The images confirm the exposed micro USB port at the bottom of the handset, as seen in the recent chassis leak, which sits next to either a lanyard hole or mic. Other features include stereo speakers on the edge (as with the Xperia Z2), nylon corners for protection, a single port flap (which hopefully combines nano SIM and micro SD) and no magnetic charging pins. Do you like what you see? Let us know in the comments below.

    First comment again yeay!

What’s this hole near the USB, charging hole?

  • Kiwison

No magnetic charge is a bummer for me, but USB port without flaps is awesome

  • Armaan Komal

    Take my money Sony

  • Probably for strap

  • Zendrix Darren

    Hole for the lanyard

  • adneon0

    Might be mhl connector pin

  • adneon0

Feels like hybrid of Z2 and Z3

  • jxPerience

what is that hole next to charging port? i hope it serves as new innovation not a big 2nd microphone hole. I like the design better than z2

  • Fiiliip

    For what is this hole??

  • Zendrix Darren

The USB port is also the MHL port

  • Domagoj Mari?

It only has one small flop that is probably for SIM, which means no micro SD slot

  • LOL

  • Tangent Lin

The hole beside USB should cover with flap. Looks bit ugly

  • Itsarapong Intoum

I don’t think so. Micro SD card slot and nano sim slot should be able to be inside that.

  • shhh

Everything’s a hole when you’re brave enough. Just kidding, most probably a lanyard hole.

  • Guest

Hopefully I can buy it within june/july :D

  • xperiaDROID

It is called “Read the article”.

  • Itsarapong Intoum

Hope it will be available globally in june or july.

  • JohnZn_1989

Hopefully it’s an real new invention to the older models… Don’t want Sony to go down with a crappy piece of smartphone…

I really don’t like the white color on this one, maybe it will look better in the final design.

  • ash

    No that’s not

  • ash

I do not like the design

  • xperiaDROID

Then you’ll have to wait for the Z5 then. But for me though, it looks not bad, it’s just that Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4 have been sharing the same design and it’s not that refreshing. I might switch to other phones for a while if the Z4 has nothing new to offer to the table.

  • fluxx

I’ve never seen an USB C connector in real life… Could this be one?

  • Ravi _111

    Wasted I don’t like

  • fluxx

I like it, evolutionary refinement. I’m just curious about the camera they will be using, everything else is already fine for me.

  • yuskhayru

Looks like the Z2 are also ready for lollipop in some regions guys. Check it out!

  • xperiaDROID

If they still use the same camera like on the Z3 then it’s out of my list for this year. I want something new, like curved camera sensor or something like that. More importantly, improve the camera software.

  • proberts

Make it usb type c please.

  • Joe

Integrated Qi wireless charging I hope.

  • yuskhayru

    Downloading..

  • Joe

    Anybody confirm this?

  • jumbo3220

    before it was #TheDress and now it’s #TheHole :|

  • Mokhtar Mouhib

As a z , z1 , z2 user .. Im not impressed , i want something different not the same design every flagship with simple changes .. Dont get me wrong i so like the design .. But this Is 2015 , at least not this poor flash one more time , why not a flash like htc , sammy , Nokia ? A night portrait pic is a joke in all z series

  • Joe

Idk, I think omnibalance is elegant, and shouldn’t change too much. If it looks good, why change it? Under the hood, it’s a whole other beast, so I don’t see a problem.

  • Joe

    Fingers crossed for Z4 Compact.

  • Joe

I barely use flash when taking pictures at night, cusrom ISO levels ftw. I guess you lack skill mate, no offense.

  • Marlish

    Have a cookie :P

  • Marlish

If you zom quite close enough you will see that the USB port is not type c and is micro usb
and regarding the other hole i have no idea. Maybe the final product will not have that and Sony would be like oops photoshop mistake :P

  • yuskhayru

    im now downloading it dude~

  • zymo

Insiders say: announcement May, release June.

  • Joe Black

    Tyvm.

  • webusermy

There’s one for the Z3 and it is a lanyard hole.

  • webusermy

No. The USB C connector is larger than the micro USB connector. This one is smaller. Most likely lanyard. Maybe at the bottom so that the mic can be hidden in there too.

  • Vuyo Ncube

Lanyard hole? It doesn’t run through the adjacent side though.

  • zymo

  • Joe Black

    Most definitelly a lanyard hole.

  • Amel_Marie

What? My Z3 D6653 still doesnt have update. FML

  • AnP

Generally, I have never had an issue with the Omni Balance design but I wish they improvised on the same making something different yet relevant to the year 2015. This design, is just good enough but not mind blowing. That said, I am eager to see how their flagship device improves in the camera department. Other OEMs using Sony’s sensors have beaten Sony’s own flagship phones, so that’s something to wait and see. I wish the camera was positioned to the centre like before. I don’t understand the logic of placing it in a corner. Happy to see the USB charging moved to the bottom. Have been with the Xperia T for over 2years now and I am looking forward to this one.

  • Amel_Marie

Cookie with lollipop for my D6653

  • Joe Black

Skeptical about 810 overheating, since Qualcomm said they fixed the issue, when they clearly didn’t (Check out HTC M9 benchmark tests). Especially because Z4 will have glass back cover which has great heat dissipation, which will likely result in it reaching very high temperatures.

  • Billy de Fretes

auto mode is the main point of smartphone cam for replacing point and shot camera.
i have to admit, xperia flash is not good enough.

how long for you to configure iso, WB, exposure just to take a picture when night? samsung, iphone always beat xperia phones in auto mode.
i have xperia z and i never beat my friend with iphone 4,4s, 5, galaxy s3, note, htc in auto mode. we found a bird flying around a flower near our office around 6 PM (gmt +7, indonesian time).
i need to change auto mode to manual mode so i can get better picture but when i finish my configuration (WB,iso, exposure etc), the objects is gone..

  • karam abi karam

Near the usb connector. I think it is fingerprint sensore

  • Really don’t like having the usb cable in the bottom, makes it harder to use the device while charging.

  • webusermy

Look at what’s on the Z3. That’s a lanyard hole too. It has a metal rod/etc in there for you to hoop it around.

  • xperiaDROID

Fingerprint sensor on the bottom? Dafuq?

  • webusermy

So is the phone #whitegold or #blueblack????

  • xperiaDROID

    Wait, why not 4GB RAM?

  • Joe Black

They just need to fix the shit that is their camera software. They have the potential to be the best in the smartphone camera field, yet they blow it on poor coding. It’s a disgrace.
In my honest opinion, they should remake the camera application from scratch (drivers and crap included).

  • Joe Black

I actually think it will be easier. Especially without flaps. I’m an owner of Z1C, and it sucks using it while charging. I also have a business LG phone which has a USB port at the bottom. Far, far easier to use.

But yea, varies from person to person, habit to habit.
    So yes, I understand.

  • Joe Black

    Think before you post.

  • Joe Black

Wouldn’t be of any real difference.

  • zymo

Seems like major OEM’s don’t see the necessity and benefit of 4GB in 2015. Probably keeping it for 2016 devices.

  • Vuyo Ncube

It’s not much but Omnibalance required few improvements anyway. MicroUSB port is on the bottom middle, speaker slits are subtle again, bezels are decently thin, less flaps, no ugly or distracting microphone holes like the GS6 or iPhone 6, humpless camera, thin but not flimsy, more subtle nylon corners. Not revolutionary nor mind-blowing, but checks the right boxes in functional design.

  • Joe Black

Exactly. Why put 4GB RAM in when you can’t max out 3 in a smartphone?

  • Vuyo Ncube

    Oh yeah.

  • Joe Black

In other words, it’s sexy. May not be a hot 20 year old, but it’s a milf. A very good milf.

  • lord

This is usb-c type New generation of usb.

  • Emil Oskarsson

Probably my next phone, long live my Xperia Z though, lovely device! :)

  • Joe Black

Hardware is epic. Software blows. If they did a half decent job with the software, as they did with the hardware, it’d be the best camera in a smartphone.

  • Vuyo Ncube

That’s… actually spot on. I would compare it to well aged wine but a perky, fit 40 year old makes more sense.

  • xperiaDROID

Then I wonder why Asus decided to put 4GB RAM in one of their Zenfone 2 variants, probably the Intel processor needs it for better multitasking?

  • xperiaDROID

Yeah, you’re right. But just hoping for a more future-proof spec though.

  • Joe Black

Or they’re just trying to be different, ahead of the competition so they can sell their products that are way buried beneath the competition that are Sony, LG, Samsung, HTC,… The list goes on and on, but you get my point. Companies like Asus (Asus in smartphone field to avoid confusion) have to (read as must) try doing something new, something better, otherwise the only way they can go is down.

  • xperiaDROID

That’s why HTC delayed the launch of the One M9 because there’s some issue with the software, that’s what making it overheating in benchmark tests.

  • xperiaDROID

    Damn right! Totally agree. :)

  • Nadeer Suddoo

Wtf…explain to me..how?tell me hiw can i download..telll me plz

  • Joe Black

Yea. I’m not biased when I defend omnibalance design (not many differences between Z, Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4) although it may seem that way. Sony made a design that says CLASSY AS SHIT like no other phone on the market (in my opinion, iPhone left that building with the 6).
Sony’s flagships are the new Nokia N series when it comes to design. They’re like a fine, custom tailored suit. Not saying that they’re prettier than any other smartphone, since that’s false, and on top of all that, it’s a whole different pair of shoes.

    Anyway, just my 2 cents.

  • Itsarapong Intoum

    Is this trustworthy information ?

  • Joe Black

The software issue might be true (which I sincerely hope so) but I think it’s too convenient. I hope Qualcomm fixed the overheating, but ot really doesn’t look loke that. Too early to tell anyway

  • zymo

Just like Joe Black already said. Marketing. Asus has to differentiate themselves, stick out from the crowd.

  • Its the USB-C. Upcoming phones this year will ship with that port. Expect it!

  • Joe Black

    Carriers…

  • Joe Black

Xperia looks best in black ;)

  • Amel_Marie

What do you mean by that? Please elaborate

  • webusermy

No. The USB C connector is larger than the micro USB connector. This one is smaller. Most likely lanyard. Maybe at the bottom so that the mic
can be hidden in there too.

  • Joe Black

Aka, the service provider where you bought your phone. T-Mobile, Vodafone, … Carriers usually take longer to deliver the update, since they need to pack it with their branded shit and bloatware.

  • Alexx

    Stunning

  • zymo

The source is trustworthy and was quite often right with his info. It’s not made up.

  • Itsarapong Intoum

    Cool !! Thx :)

  • zymo

    That would be a micro-usb C port.

At my place here in Malaysia, we dont have specific carrier that sells smartphones from their version so we just buy directly from Sony store where there’s zero carrier attached. So, it’ll be faster if i use wifi to check the update? or through pc companion faster :-/

  • omg_wtf_afk_brb

    yep, it is an update

  • Joe Black

    Check it through PC Companion.

  • Alexx

Is it Lollipop? I’m going to download it immediately

  • Reza

    Whic region is that?

  • Joe Black

Should be, judging by the change in build number. Skeptical since they said it would take up to 2 weeks for Z2 and yet, “here it is”.

  • Pingback: Así será el Sony Xperia Z4, al descubierto en nuevos renders | Fravala.com - Las noticias de tecnología a tu alcance.()

  • Wozn2

No cover on MicroUSB = not waterproof?

  • Joe Black

    Sweden if I’m not mistaken.
They do get the updates faster than most, which adds to some credibility about this.

  • Joe Black

It’s still waterproof. Check out M4 Aqua.

  • Reza

I see, Sweden whic was the homeland of beloved Sony Ericsson

  • xperiaDROID

I think they’re gonna update the entire Z series in two weeks time.

  • omg_wtf_afk_brb

it was 2 weeks for whole z series, not only Z2

  • Joe Black

    Still is, Ericsson-wise.

  • Pingback: Así será el Sony Xperia Z4, al descubierto en nuevos renders | Hoy Android - tecnología y trucos cada día para tu móvil.()

Although. This new alleged Z2 Lollipop update has the same build number as the Z3 Lollipop update, which makes me believe it’s a hoax. Could be wrong.

I don’t even care that much tbh, Z1 Compact user here

  • Abdul Ghani

    where is micro sd

  • Mercast

It doesn’t make sense. Why would any company put 2 USB ports in a handset? It raises the manufacturing cost.

  • Snorky112

    nope

  • Joe Black

Under the flap, next to sim slot.

  • Snorky112

no its good, stop saying it’s shit because iphone is better

  • Joe Black

    They wouldn’t. Ergo, lanyard slot.

  • Joe Black

No I won’t, because it’s SHIT. It’s not because “iphone is better”, it’s because iPhone uses Sony camera sensor. And it’s better. It’s because Samsung uses Sony camera sensor. And it’s better. It’s because I know a thing or two about software and coding. It’s because I own a flagship Sony phone, and the camera could be so much better if they actually knew what they’re doing, software-wise. Speaking about software, they still haven’t fixed the camera FC/freeze issue on Z1 Compact. So yea, your argument is invalid.

  • Marlish

Dont try to be phonearena :P

  • Vuyo Ncube

USB port would be waterproof just like the M4 Aqua’s.

  • Itsarapong Intoum

hahaha I like your comment !!!

still “could be so much better” doesn’t mean it’s “SHIT”, it’s just 3d best camera after iphone and GS5

  • Timel

I gotta say so sorry for you guys again if this render is real, this is so disappointed… Xperia brand is now very boring more than I expected .

Even the real product doesn’t come out yet but let me judge from the render I’m pretty sure that Sony isn’t bring anything special to the new Xperia flagship phone at all, the Z4 still stuck with the old tech, less innovative, less creative Sony has no idea to do anything new, not even the design, Sony is so underdeveloped, backward and always step behind the competitors and again with the Xperia Z4, it has nothing that cool enough to fight with Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung and Apple will have been chushed Xperia Z4 again when they release Galaxy Note 5 and Apple iPhone 6s… The Xperia Z4 is definitely just another flop from Sony and in finally Xperia brand will be forgotten

  • Lunkz

who the fuck uses these days the lanyard hole? To Spin your phone over your head? Or using it as weapon?

I used it once, and after that my phone had scratches.

  • James

No pogo pins = wireless charging?
Does anyone think this looks more like a Z4 Compact?
I prefer this stereo speaker design to the Z3, much sleaker.
The SIM slot/SD card slot cover also looks smaller than the Z3 IMO. No SD card support?

  • Vuyo Ncube

Are you a Sony employee? Please tell us more about the hardware changes made to the Z4. You seem to know so much about it.

  • Vicky

If you notice that camera is now Right hand side…
I think actual phone maybe some different…

  • hemant Sharma

So nice to know your foolish comments. Are you drunk….? Xperia are always better device that the iPhone in every manner, screen, audio quality, durability, processer wise and iPhone just is a style statement not more than that and galaxy edge only provide a screen to see notifications just it do you know battery on galaxy s6 is only 2600 mah no microsd card slot no water proofing and dust proofing processer are also not of Qualcomm huh you are a foul that you are here to praise the ugliest Samsung here. Go and take your bath.

  • Jaissal S

I think I’ll buy this sometime later in the year. As long as I can sell my Z1 for a reasonable amount. I just hope that the Z4 will be unique enough for me to really want it.

  • Guest

My next phone for sure, but I’ll buy the black version.

  • Tjaldid

    Or a docking mechanism

  • jokensy

It looks more like the Z4 compact :-)

  • fd

You are judging all this by the design!? Tell me what do you expect from the design!? What company has made radical changes to the design of their flagship devices!? For starters, smartphones are all rectangular bricks! For instance Samsung, same design since first Galaxy, a physical home button with silver out line and silver outline on the device. They’ve had a camera hump and used plastic for years, same grill design and only on speaker. Their software has been laggy and the only ‘useful’ thing they’ve added to Android is their split screen feature found on the Note series and even that is questionable and is half backed! Apple is the last to change anything hardware and software wise… HTC for 3 years has made smaller changes than any other company. LG deserves some props for their knock-knock feature for unlocking the screen but have laggy software, half backed features and hardware that is unreliable. Sony imo has refined their devices design to be cleaner, elegant and more ergonomic with each iteration. They’ve improved to become one of the best or best in the departments that matter the most like: camera quality, sound quality, screen, software performance/stability, battery life and connectivity features.

  • shhh

Well don’t rant here kid, go picket in front of Sony’s office.

  • shhh

Don’t think that single hole can handle the phone.

  • Joel Tackleberry Ochenta

Ok please explain the revolutionary design of the IPhone 6 or the standard S6 which if u look is a copy of the xperia’s Aluminum &Glass ok maybe the S6 Edge but thats it leave yo trolling self on a diff site cos its not needed Bye

    Eat a bowl of dicks.

  • jokensy

Timel, JUST GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!

  • Joe Black

I wish it was 3rd best camera.

Anyway, if bad software prevents you from using the camera on your phone to its full capabilities, it’s shit software. If the issue at hand was about RAM or CPU in the same measure, you wouldn’t be disagreeing.

It’s the same thing as running a random 3d game on your phone at 20 fps max, and you know the hardware is capable of running it at 30-40.

We’re talking about premium flagship phomes here, and the supposedly superior camera.

  • Joe Black

That’s the one I eagerly await.

  • Joe Black

Judging from the size of the camera compared to the rest of the body, it’s Z4.

  • Joe Black

    Ew

  • Joe Black

    Hope so. Looks promising.

  • Joe Black

Just one correction, 2600mah is more than enough coupled with a x64 cpu.

  • Igor Eisberg

I like it! It’s like a hybrid between the Z3 and Z1/Z2, with a more standardized “micro USB on top/bottom” position.

  • Joe Black

I think it’s got all the qualities of all the previous Zs, except the hidden pulse LED.

  • Igor Eisberg

Yeah, that’s one thing I love about my Z1, it’s much more stylish than the cheap-looking round LED on the Z3 :)

  • There were rumors awhile back about the Xperia Z4 possibly having a water proof micro usb port. I wonder if this render reveals that might be true.

  • jokensy

    Wireless charging ;-)

  • Battal Aljadei

The camera mic is stupidly placed on the corner where your index finger will cover it if you wanna take some video !
    Not again Sony ?

  • jokensy

I posted this comment then I deleted it. Why are you copying me???

  • May Czos

Pre-production M9 doesn’t have final software, no throttling to keep tepmerature down. It’s also worth mentioning that under normal heavy use (games) temperature reached just 42 Celsius degrees (with no throttling).

  • Nathan

I like what I see alright.

  • May Czos

Camera looks to small for Z4 Compact. Compact will also probably have smaller bezels.

  • Nathan

Most likely. (Like the M4 Aqua)

  • Nathan

    No, please no S810.

  • Nathan

But where is the main microphone? In the speaker?

  • Keion London

    I recently mentioned that I was a bit skeptical about qualcomm’s new 810 chipset now it’s all for the z5. It’s a shame though……

  • Keion London

This is honestly why I am considering to wait on the z5 : I dont trust qualcomm’s chip. From my understanding the gflex 2 had no overheating how the clock speed had to be reduced. Sounds like diminishing returns to me considering that Sammy doesn’t have this issue.

  • Pootis Man

    Really?

  • jokensy

I hope it does not overheat like the HTC one M9.

  • logan

before saying this just tell me which other phone is doing major modifications to the design of their flagship phone..

  • David Hvatov

Simply amazing! I’m definitely buying it!

  • Ok, Sony is now officially fucked. I thought they wanted to sell their mobile division, but it looks like they want to close it.

  • paul_cus

Looks real nice. Always liked the Omnibalance design, so I like that Sony seems to be sticking with it. Headphone jack could be on the bottom, but that’s just nitpicking.

  • Shubham Mutreja

    he is a samsung employee

  • Amir

    Don’t feed trolls.

  • RbbrDcky

No, this is an improvement. On the Z3, the top mic was previously on the opposite end right next to the headphone jack, which, when recording a video, you could easily cover with your palm. I’m glad to see that they moved it to the other end.

  • RbbrDcky

The Z3 on Verizon has wireless charging, so it’s not like they haven’t already done it.

  • zymo

That’s what the source says. Phoneareana is reporting (via HDBLOG.it) that it will be announced at IFA in september. But considering the leaks in the last few days announcement should be in the coming weeks (May).

  • RbbrDcky

I know what you mean but that really only applies when I’m charging and playing a game at the same time. Other times, I wish the port were on the bottom like when the phone is in my car mount. So I’m glad to see this change.

  • zymo

There is no other option. S801/805 are over-dated. MT6795 not ready and new soc needs more time for development due to implementation.

  • crackinthewall

It’s not the carriers. The TD-LTE variants of Z2, Z3, and Z3C don’t have Lollipop yet. There’s not much of a hardware difference between the FD-LTE and TD-LTE variants so Sony is probably waiting for feedback first before a wider roll-out. No manufacturer is stupid enough to push out an update to all devices (same model) which is why most of them release an update in the Nordic/Baltic regions first.

  • Battal Aljadei

This is how most people hold their phone to record a video

    http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/reviews/157929-thumb/Sony-Xperia-Z2-Camera.jpg

If they’d not cover the mic hole with their index finger at least they’r gonna screw the sound of the recorded video because it’s very close,
Again i’d say that mic position is stupid and it should be on the back beside the camera which’s logical position and it’s on most smartphones !

  • RbbrDcky

I understand why you would think that the back is a logical place to put it but that’s where it was on the Z1 and while great for video recording, it was awful for speakerphone calls when the phone is laying down face up. When on speakerphone that mic is used for noice cancellation but if it’s completely covered, call clarity is non-existent. Soo, I don’t care where they put it up top, just not on the back!

  • Battal Aljadei

Alright then they should put it same as it was in Z2 which’s ok too,

    http://www.techview.co/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Sony-Xperia-Z2-Omnibalance.jpg

What makes me angry at Sony is that they’re repeating mistakes that they’ve solved before !

  • RbbrDcky

Well, hey, if that’s the only thing in your life that you have to be angry about, you must have it good!

  • DrazenDodig

poor Samsung fans with S6 reveal… gotta feel for them.

  • RbbrDcky

I’m loving this phone! I mean, seriously, what else can they do to make it any more the best all-around device on the market? Awesome build quality and premium materials, awesome battery life, awesome bright and vivid display, awesome stereo sound, awesome camera and camera modes, awesome weather-proofing, awesome connectivity with every wired and wireless solution currently available. There may be some other phones on the market that may capitalize on one of these features but none can pack them all into a single package like the Xperia. And if they do, in fact, include a 2K screen and wireless charging, there’s no reason this shouldn’t be the king of the hill!

  • Battal Aljadei

I’ve said that’s what makes me angry at Sony, and i didn’t said that’s the only thing in my life makes me angry !

  • Boss-looking

  • RbbrDcky

Haha, I’m only kidding. Sony makes me angry mostly because of their lack of availability in the States.

  • Pootis Man

    Okay. Thanks for the info.

  • No USB-C ? :/

  • Nawi

He is Samsung sucker.. sorry, samsung employee

  • Geese Howard

This is a perfect upgrade from either a Z or Z1. Looks like my Z can finally retire and I will accept the Z4!

  • Rikimaru Azuma

    This Z4 will be mine.
But I am curious to know what kind of dock this z4 will have.

  • VictorMartino

Why would you want that? To get worse battery life?

    For easier handling.

    You’re still an idiot.

still swims in sperm of samsung

  • Alwardy

But its not enough for 2k display

  • Joe Black

Wouldn’t be too sure about that. Galaxy Alpha has a 720p screen, and a 1860mAh battery. It’s durable as fuck.

mystery xperia leak in new update of tv Sideview

  • JohnZn_1989

Sony Mobile will no longer exist after September 2015… So this will maybe the last phone with a Sony brand on it… That’s the reason why I hope the Z4 is kicking some ass in comparison to the older Xperia models…

  • Keion London

They have already spoken of future plan based on design and stuff so I guess even if they may they may not exist after September their can be a z5 in March. Considering that as they said before they aren’t moving away from the 6 mth cycle.

  • Mads Bahrt

I’m sceptical as well. The reasons I like the magnetic charging port on my Z3c is:

    1) I can charge without sacrificing the waterproofing while I charge.

    2) I can charge without having to open the cover, which means it will keep being waterproof with the cover on in the longer term.

    3) I can charge without wearing out the flimsy micro USB jack.

It seems that Sony may have fixed 1) and 2) by designing a waterproof USB jack. That still leaves 3) where I might wear out the jack.
If the Z4 includes wireless charging that would solve 3) which would make it OK to remove the magnetic connector.

Meh…looks alright. Pretty much the same as the Z3. Hopefully it’ll perform better. I’m not as happy with my Z3 as I was with my Z for some reason.

  • Kiwison

Well I totally agree with you for 1 and 2 and for 3 you may be right if Sony follows the trend.

However I realised that my Z3 can be charged faster using magnetic charge, I just don’t know how but it charges the phone faster. Of course Sony may also solve this problem with a fast-charge feature like Oppo or any other manufacturer has done before.

But for me most important reason was cosmetic effect of the magnetic charger, it looks really beautiful and if someone has no idea what it actually is then it creates an even greater sexy look :D

  • ?? ???

So we finally get wireless charging without the need to purchase an additional case?

  • Cipri Rengle

I really miss the magnetic charging port.

  • ?? ???

I really don’t understand fanboys.. The phone looks sexy, has good build quality and features battery performance that can last days – this is why I bought the Z3 (former Nexus user) and if they can 1+ on last years model I’ll be getting the Z4.

  • Shinchan Crayon

FUCK OFF…..eat shit from your mother fucker sucksung……YOU ARE IDIOT

  • ?? ???

I don’t and its a blessing that its excluded as finally we’ll be getting wireless charging without the need of silly cases that connect via your aforementioned magnetic charging port.

well, no shit, they haven’t release any info of it yet

  • Nathan

I hope Sony can prevent a hot glass/metal phone.

  • jack

usb port is designed so ugly. so cover it, sony!

  • VictorMartino

My iPhone 6 feels horrible in the hand because of its thinness, you should think twice before asking for a thinner phone. Isn’t 7.2mm thin enough?

  • Mokhtar Mouhib

Can u tell me how u will custom iso in darkness and u want to take a pic of ur friends ?
A good camera must have a good flash… Period
And .. U dont know me to judge about if i have skill or not .. U want to make a challenge ?

Reaallly hope its got wireless charging too

  • Angus Millenbaum

    It’s not a lanyard hole. It’s a hole for the NFC-chip.

  • Mads Bahrt

Where have you seen that the Z4 includes wireless charging?

  • ?? ???

Common sense I guess. Sony were only offering wireless charging on the Z3 / Z3 compact via a case that uses the magnetic port. Thus, no mag port – no need for the case.

  • impasse

yo can i get a zl3 with smaller bezels and non-glass back? because that is the ONLY thing holding me back from upgrading to another sony

  • ZXcorr

I like how iPhone 6 feels in my hand. For me, when the screen is getting bigger, the body needs to be thinner to compensate that. Easier handling. Have you ever tried holding a phone with 5″ display that is thick? Horrible.

  • heres the thing why care? the xperia brand does not appeal to everyone it appeals to people who demand perfection and class not to kids it’s more a mature design and phone that only appeals to a special certain of people which is why sony is losing but i prefer it this way

if they were to appeal to the mainstream public like every other brand does then a sony phone would be very ugly and i wouldn’t care for it

sony phones are not for everyone
