Sony details changelog for new Xperia Z2/Z3 series Lollipop update

by XB on 5th May 2015

in Firmware, Sony Tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 series

LollipopSony Mobile has confirmed that a new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware version is currently rolling to the Xperia Z2 and Z3 series. This comes with build number 23.1.A.1.28, which we first saw rolling to the Xperia Z2 yesterday. The new update is heading to the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tablet. Sony has also given a quick changelog for this new update, confirming the new close all button for recent apps is included. Check out the full list below.

New Lollipop update for Xperia Z2/Z3 series changelog

– Ensured the lock screen / notification bar doesn’t indicate “no service” when the device has coverage

– Added a Sony feature; bringing back the “close-all-button” in the activity menu, so you can easily close all apps at once

– Unblocked devices with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to enable the new Lollipop lock-screen notifications

– Ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes – and no longer offset by “silent”

– Made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card (something we saw affecting a few devices)

– Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode – some conversations could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode

Why it is always delay ????

  • Ravi

I need it too, but they didn’t mention about it.

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

Cool, Silent mode is not a cripple now

  • kido

And how bout the sound engine? Does the music effects in the music app now work in this update?

  • Brian De Guzman

what’s the difference of 23.2.A.1.62 (hong kong latest) to this one 23.1.A.1.28, it seems that hong kong is in a more updated version?

  • Fynjy7771

I don’t have silent mode at all, only “vibro”. Do you mean “vibro”, or you have a silent mode?

  • Mohamed adel ali

    what about sony xperia z1

  • Claudio Jardim

Backup não funciona do kit Kat para o lollipop

  • bobeobi gzigzigzeo

This! Hate the wait, thought it would release along with z3 but NO!

  • roeshak

Just flashed this firmware and on first inspection there seems to be some change in camera performance. Pictures don’t seem as sharp as before and there seems to be more noise reduction employed. Will have to test this more.

  • Hamed Azizi

I have a Z Ultra, I want better battery, volume toggle via notification or power key, and my smart watch disconnects and connects all the time. Should be a problem in bluetooth. And somthing more: Walkman widget is the ugly one. Old widget was better.

  • mukul verma

@xperiablog, i found xperia z5 pic on net, a new design with completely clean front end with a frosted glass effect.

what do you think moderators.? fake or real ?

  • Naail Zahid

not enough people asking for it I suppose…

  • Niels d. G.

Fan-made, no doubt. And such a small bottom bezel would make a super awkward to use the navigational keys.

  • Sadman Khan

Because android natively doesn’t support dual sim. It will from 5.1. From then on you’ll get faster updates. for now Sony has to do all the work to optimise everything for two sims

  • HAWX

And these new features won’t be in the upcoming Z series update? Nice job giving a major pain in the @ss for us Sony. If you ask me this does not force me to buy newer Z series device. It tells me Sony won’t give these kind of minor improvements to Z2 and Z3 when we will be in 2016.
I don’t know you but If they include these improvements then I will trust them and buy new Xperia flagship.

  • mukul verma

why there will be awkward to use, xperia zl has very less bezel inbottom, but it was easy to use it, & i dont think there will b sharp corners which will cut your finger.

  • Niels d. G.

ZL definitely has more bottom bezel than this.

And the lower down the navigational keys are (the less bottom bezel) the more awkward it is for your thumb to reach for those keys.

  • It’s about time! That’s a good trend, that manufacturers still remember about older phones, especially flagship models.

  • I got no problem with battery life on my XZU, same as with 4.4. You might want to do a factory reset, something could be borked.

  • I’d prefer sharp corners. Don’t know why sharp corners would be uncomfortable. I use my phone with two hands, all the time, anyways.

  • Shaktimaan

    My z2 is waiting :D

  • Madis Otenurm

Can the close all button be disabled?

  • Nicuuz

Why can’t we please get quick charging 2.0? The processor supports it. You should enable it through a update. It takes 3 hours ++ to fully charge it, more around 4 hours. All the top phones has quick charging, even HTC M8…

    Sony, fix quick charging 2.0!!

Using stock charger and magnetic cable phone charges from 0 to 100% in about 1hr i think its good enough..

  • jokensy

I hope they’ll fix “search music” in Walkman app for the Z2.

  • Ritwij

Really looking forward to that. I’m guessing Android 5.1 will include the Camera2 API

  • loudness of speaker is worsen since 4.4.4 update and lollipop too , sony please. fix the speaker loudness

  • bilomar

    What about the low audio

  • Pootis Man

    No. I don’t think so.

  • Amimanot

Quick Charge 2.0 is actually enabled already, you just need a charger that supports the Quick Charge 2.0 standard… The one that came with our Xperias, didn’t support it. I would recommend this one

  • IshuZ2

Anyone got this update in India?

  • aryan1357

no..waiting, for india it may release tommorow or the day after.

  • nick

Last time we got very late lets see..when we get It.been checking since i got the news..

  • Hamed Azizi

I did it yesterday. I feel kitkat was better on battery. Bluetooth is now better but sometimes it happens again.

  • Reen

Would love to see this feature again. Sound quality with poweramp was better with music fx enabled. Since Lollipop it doesn’t work anymore

  • nick

From when they removed the xLoud and got the clearaudio+ crap the audio is f***** d up

  • Sadman Khan

I hope they fix it for all phones :P I hardly ever find a song through that

  • Sadman Khan

Quick charging is there since 5.0.2. You just need the quick charge 2.0 enabled charger

  • Sadman Khan

1 hour? No man it takes nearly 3 :|

  • nick

Nope mine gets charged up in about 1hr or more..with stock charger and after market magnetic cable

  • Sadman Khan

Do you like use them both simultaneously or something? How does that even work! :’D

  • Sadman Khan

These are mainly bugs that are fixed. Why don’t you wait? Maybe you won’t have these bugs. So chill man!

    Same here, 0-100 3 hours. Z3 .690

  • bilomar

If we get it at all. They still working on 5.0.2 updates. Some countries are still on kitkat. But because they upgrade so many of their phones to lollipop.

  • nick

No man..just the magnetic cable with the stock charger…max it took was 1.5hrs once or twice when i will be using The phone for gaming..

  • bilomar

How do you don’t have silent mode. It’s the left one if you press your volume up or down

  • nick

Strange indian support site still showing. 690 as latest..

  • bilomar

They activated it for international versions? Before it was just for Japanese versions available.

one should rather be thankful that the original Z is even getting lollipop, given the time it was released. Moreover, let the update come first and see what’s there. And lastly, no one is forcing anyone to update original Z to upcoming lollipop. People should really stop crying!

  • andrewww

is this coming in the uk?

  • Faisal Armand

I Will wait for the results

  • Sairon Jay Grepo

I sent a message to Sony Mobile HK’s FB page asking what’s the status of Z3C lollipop update and they told me that it’s still in BETA. Like WTF are they doing?

  • IIAlparslan

    Damn Sony Solve That Problem!

  • roeshak

Definitely a change in the camera performance. Improvement in some areas but the camera seems to use an even slower shutter than before indoors making it harder to get well focused shots with lower iso. Fine details are also worse I believe because of more noise reduction.
On the other hand, the photos are cleaner, less noise in both daylight and indoor shots and there’s also a noticeable improvement in dynamic range with less over exposing of the sky which was a particular problem since 4.4.4. Superior auto and auto settings also seem to do much better with white balance but still using very aggressively high iso values.
Needs further testing in more lighting conditions as I’ve only tested under natural light so far.
Feels like this software is a half way house between the clean photos and good dynamic range of 4.4.2 and the sharpness and fast shutter of 4.4.4.
I’m just not sure if I’m happy with this you know. I particularly don’t like how difficult it’s become to take focused shots indoors which wasn’t too much of a problem on 4.4.4. It was though on 4.4.2. This seems like a middle ground firmware.

  • Sadman Khan

Impossible :| even charging with phone switched off, takes longer ._. The original Sony charger is rated at 1500 mah. The battery is 2600 mah. it should take a minimum of 2 to 2.5 hours Because the charger never charges at maximum output. Your phone defies physics :|

  • Faisal Armand

Pfffftttt… I believe Sony may apply extra noise reduction because of some users here that constantly complained about grains in high ISO. Now, grain is less but so are the details.

    Thanks anyway, dude

  • Sadman Khan

Yes they did. Some people on xda have confirmed it charges much faster with QC 2.0 enabled charger on lollipop but it previously didn’t work on KK

  • roeshak

Also the metering seems better. It’s strange…… Objects close seem sharper than before but less so once far away. SA is slightly better with white balance. Not as cold as before but still doesn’t match manual selection.
I feel positive about certain aspects of the camera but the frequency of blurry indoor shots is rather annoying. If it wasn’t for that, I’d say it was an overall improvement. The details are only not as good with distant objects. I think they’ve struck a good balance between noise and sharpness.

  • Weehaaw

Arrived on my z3c (sweden) a couple of hours ago. Works great, no major stuff…

  • Weehaaw

About 3 hours with magnet dock on my z3c.

  • Faisal Armand

But how is the sharpness when compared to 4.4.2?

    From my analysis is this:

4.4.2: Soft 20.7MP photos, 8MP photos were sharper. Great Dynamics But both resolutions contained artifacts in nearly every ISO range, even in 8MP res in ISO 200, 400, and slow shutter night shots. But in ISO 800, the artifacts are gone and only luminance noise remains.

4.4.4: Sharp 20.7MP, 8MP shots were little sharper than it was on 4.4.2. Dynamics is weaker thanks to change in metering system that caused blown highlights. Artifacts are only in 20.7MP. In 8MP mode, noise is less and artifacts are gone.

5.0.2: same pixel quality and DR as 4.4.4 but in daylight, the colours are now oversaturated instead of neutral

  • You mean on loudspeaker? I wanted that too, Sony Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • roeshak

I’d say it’s more of retaining the sharpness of 4.4.4 but improving the metering and increased noise reduction so fine details aren’t as sharp. For me since 4.4.4 the 20.7mp photos have been much better than the 8mp samples so I tend to use only that resolution.
8mp samples are only better if you want to shoot at higher iso because they’re less noisy but I generally always use as low an iso value as possible.
    So improvements are
Better metering and dynamic range. There’s still edge clipping but focus isn’t thrown off as on 4.4.4.
    Cleaner photos with less noise
Slight improvement in auto white balance
    The negatives are
Slightly less details resolved especially with fine elements and distant objects
Shower shutter in low light so harder to focus. Very annoying this!

If it wasn’t for the increased frequency of blurry indoor shots, I’d say this was the best camera software to date for the z2. As always with Sony it’s always steps forward and backwards

  • Faisal Armand

As for the DR and clipping things, I don’t know dude.. But we can’t expect very great dynamic range from a small 1/2.3″ sensor with small pixels. I’d say this is a decent effort from sony.

How slow is the shutter in the indoor shots? We know in the manual mode, the shutter speed is limited at 1/8s at the slowest but does it get slower than that now?

  • roeshak

That’s the problem, it’s using 18s too frequently even though there’s enough strong natural light coming through the window. It should be using a faster shutter than that even at iso 100 in these conditions. It did so before

  • Faisal Armand

Now that’s quite stupid if you ask me. Using 1/8s frequently on non OIS camera is dangerous, you’ll get blurry shots more often than not. Even phones like galaxy s6 only use 1/10s even in dark scenes and s6 is actually equipped with OIS and advanced focusing system. In indoors and darker, sony should just use 1/16s on average

  • roeshak

Indeed! Shots that I could take before at iso 100 are proving very difficult to reproduce now. I’m having to crank up iso to 400 to achieve prefect focus. The result is better than previous firmware at that iso level but frequent use of slow shutter is very annoying. Bad move on Sony’s part. If not for this, I would have hailed this firmware as a definite improvement as far as the camera goes but I can’t do that as things stand.
Also need to observe battery performance. My instincts say it may be a bit poorer

  • HAWX

Yeah. Check what htc one M7 is running on which was released before Xperia Z.
One M7 was smoother and faster in 4.3 4.4. compared to Xperia Z. There is heavy stuttering and lag when you pull down the deamn notification menu which has been existing since 4.3 in Xperia Z. And that made 1 year with this lag to use this phone. Only good version for Z was 4.2.2. And If that lolipop fails to be bug and lag free (considering only phone’ s own UI and applications) what should I do? Back to 4.2.2? The phone was rebooting itself in the album in 4.3. And I used that shit for 6 months when 4.4.2 released. And at that version original emial application was wasn’t working and I had to use 3rd part shitty e mail applications at that time. And none of these problem was existing in htc one M7.
I know Z2 and Z3 devices and they didn’t have serious bug problems on all versions of them. What people do is cry because updates are coming slow.
One M7 was updated about 2 month ago. I don’t cry about waiting which most people do here. All I want is bug and lag free phone for using phone’s own applications which Sony has been failing since 4.2.2. If this version sucks UNLIKE one M7 I will be deamn pissed because this will be the last for Z. (I hope it wont.)

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

I think they do it in case some daft people have it on loud speaker and don’t realise so they don’t break their ears trust me I’ve seen people with it on ls and still walking around like it’s not

  • David Hvatov

Even clearaudio+ doesn’t work anymore & equalizer too.

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

I have disconnect problem with Sony smartwatch 3 with xperia z2 think there’s something wrong with the android wear app in new update or something I’m on lollipop

  • Raj Singh

It’s even worse when you have a Bluetooth/NFC device connected to it. There should be a ‘Sound’ toggle in the Quick Settings. It’s pretty annoying.

  • Raj Singh

Man, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a situation where I need to quickly switch the device to silent but can’t since there’s no ‘Sound’ button in the Quick Settings anymore. That’s weird and I don’t like it.

  • Nate

Any changes to speaker functionality? Are both speakers used for speaker phone now, louder, etc? Also, did any of you have issues with the speaker crackling before that is resolved after the update?

  • Dino Laguvardo

  • Rodrigo Timpani

and fix smartlock with smarband, whatever ¬¬

  • brick

No battery drain or low audio here. You could try a factory reset after updating to this new firmware.

  • Fynjy7771

    Ok. Thanks to everyone.
The problem was that on KitKat I used to turn it on from nitification menu without touching volume buttons. Now on Lollipop it is impossible.

  • brick

Speaker phone cannot be stereo because it would cause echo. Crackling speaker is normal because phone speakers cannot reproduce all frequencies being really small. Some songs have frequencies that cause crackling. Try using better recordings instead of low quality ones and do not use a strong equalizer.

  • Hellx Gates

When it will come ro xperia z?

  • jack

pls bring back the hotspot quick toggle in the lockscreen!!!!!!!!!!

  • jack

make sure to use the stock USB cable or stock magnetic charger, 1 hour, 0 to 100%.

  • Supriyo

Just clear the songs from the sd card and paste again. Do download music info and you will be able to search again..

  • Hamed Azizi

I have sw2. So something is wrong with lollipop. That happens specialy while I’m playing games.

  • jonyah

I get a full charge in about and hour too though that is with using a 2.0 quick charge adapter. I get that both with magnetic and plugged in. I have noticed that magnetic seems to charge faster than usb for some reason.

  • Vasilis K.

The close all button and the led function while silent are a must in the next Z1 Compact update!!! Bring it on Sony!!!

  • jonyah

I bought 4 of these when I first got my Z3 and always noticed a difference. Qualcomm’s site has always listed the Z3 as compatible.

  • SimonPieman

    Extension lead?

  • Kaostheory

Doesn’t the new one on the volume rocker do the same thing?

  • Hugo Leonardo

No Lollipop flavor here in Brazil yet =/ we’re still stucked to the chocolate one, I mean, kitkat =/

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Yeah I get a disconnect then when I try reconnect it says it is connected on the android wear app and anything I do like mark an email as read doesn’t work at all same for skipping current playing song on my sw3 just doesn’t wanna work was fine on KitKat not a single problem

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Lol bring back all toggles I can’t toggle anything in lock screen only basic stuff like WiFi and Bluetooth mobile data would be better there along with tether

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

That’s funny cus I used the charger from my old Ericsson to charge my z2 tab cus it was there and it said it was gonna take 19hrs on the lock screen from 20% so I went and got my better charger which said 3+ hrs and HTC m8 is about as old as z2 so we really should have this

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

I only noticed this very long charging time with both my z2 and z2 tab when they were updated to lollipop and my old z is still on 4.4 and doesnt take that long I even put a 5.0 custom ROM on that and that still didn’t take as long as 3hrs+ and that was with my crappy old Ericsson charger

  • Paul

One can press the volume rocker then tap the bell icon in the volume slider to immediately put the phone in vibrate only mode. But this won’t work when listening to music or other audio media because the volume beat for the media will appear. That appears to be everybody’s gripe.

  • bilomar

    Fake it’s so obvious

  • Sachin Gautam

I have lollipop on my Stunning India Xperia Z1 Compact

  • jacksnack

    z1c never had close all

  • Dino Laguvardo

i will do it,,as for my comment it was a problem between many of us.

  • Wallace

    Bring the battery longer back!

  • Kurt Hedman

Got it tonight here in Sweden for my Z3. Seems to work fine :)

  • Stephen

    he didnt say it did

  • roeshak

On a more positive note, iso 400 shots are more usable because they’re not as noisy as before. Another thing I’ve noticed is corner softness which was not a problem on 4.4.4. It was a big issue though on 4.4.2. It’s not that bad on this firmware but it’s back.
It’s certainly a middle ground between the two firmwares.

  • Naail Zahid

    Are you retarded?

Update is live in Italy. Just 25Mb via OTA, only took a few minutes to download and install. Many bugs fixed, software is pretty much flawless now. Now we need to let sony know that we liked some of the features of Kitkat and ask them to reintroduce the toggles Google/Sony removed in Lollipop.

Through personal experience. Comparing the charge time for the stock charger and the charger I linked is definitely different. Where the stock charger takes 3 1/2 hours to fully charge my D5803 (US Z3C) while the QC (Quick Charge) 2.0 enabled charger takes around 1 1/2 hours to fully charge it.

The QC 2.0 charger also has a way to tell whether it is charging normally or charging with QC enabled. Blue LED for normal, green LED for QC. When connected to my Z3C via USB (QC only works when charged via USB) the LED instantly turns green while when connected to my Xperia Arc S (which doesn’t even support QC 1.0 because it was released in 2011 while the QC standard was implemented by Qualcomm in early 2012) it stayed blue.

Also, if im not mistaken, you don’t need any software updates to enable QC because it is handled via the circuity inside the SoC. Which means any phone using atleast the Snapdragon 800 is already QC 2.0 enabled. Which includes the Xperia Z1.

  • Benjamin Levy

I have installed the update, for now i havnt seen any problems, exept of equalizer not working, for me because that i can’t enjoy music like i had before. But i hope there will e an update that will fix this problem.

  • sanehdeep singh

with stock charger and usb cable it takes 3 hrs+ with same charger and using magnet charging cable it takes less time approx. 2hrs but if I charge with magnet charger it discharge early. so my advise charge with usb cable and take long battery life,
fast charging means less battery life and it goes 1 +day only, with usb low charging it take 2+days to discharge.

  • Andy Welch

Camera only lets me take one picture, then freezes on a black screen since the update. They need to fix this. I feel like my entire Z3 is running through thick treacle, despite having masses of memory still. One photo a day isn’t good enough!

  • Olaf Duits

Well that is not a Z3 thing, that is a broken phone. Just return it on guarantee or try to repair it with PC companion first.

  • Omar Ahmed

what about the “equalizer and all sound enhancers like headset choosing” problem
does it now work in all application like in KitKat or still functional in walkman only ???

  • Nicuuz

Btw, will the charger you recommended on amazon work on the xperia z2 as well? Only the z3 is listed.. Thanks!

Seriously? Can you write a more pointless stupid post?

  • Amimanot

Since QC 2.0 is handled by the SoC, technically the z2 should also be supported

2nd Xperia Z could use that processor but they didn’t use it because of the Sony’s strategy. M7 and Z went to sales in most countries at the same time. And Sony did it with Xperia Z3 as well. They could use the 805 because It was already known that 805 is coming.

3rd I didn’t mention about the gaming performance of these devices. I talked about the phone’s bugs and their User interface performance. Xperia Z had various stuttering after Z2 revealed. Sony applied the system of Z2 without optimising to their Z1 and Z series. If Xperia Z series have the snapdragon XXXX why they didnt give a fck and did something about that. M7 had almost 0 lag when you use the phones own applications in ALL of the system updates that M7 had. If the Xperia Z has diffrent or “noober” processor why they didn’t do much about it let the phone lag for 1 year. And why da fck M7 didn’t.

If your little brain still does not get it I give you an other example. M8′ UI was much faster then Z3.
It’s not about the processors. It’s about the phone’s own lag when using the basic interface. And manufacturers should optimise it according to their processors. And that’s the
the engineering part of supporting the older models.

4th Next time read people’s comment completely and understand before replying kiddo.

all i did repair phone via pc companion the bug is now gone and new firmware doesn’t have it

  • Nicuuz

Alright. Thanks, will see and try!

  • Lucian

We want this firmware also in Central Europe. Why this customized generic It is ignored?

  • Smuti

Wtf? This is even a more meaningless post then the previous one. Rather take your own advice and read comments fully.

  • HAWX

Appearently you don’t have enough English to understand what I’m talking about. I should have ignored your first comment which does not make any sense with what my problem is..

Probably just a troll or boy who thinks he can show off by knowing just some chip name and models. Anyway go home low.

  • Burhan

I just want my god damn quick setting Volume button. U cant silent ur fone when ur on a call and u hear weird msgs tones from whatsapp and other social apps. Nonsense update

  • Nicuuz

I might try this! But do you know where to buy one that is for Europe? We have different charging pins in Norway, so this one won’t work. Thanks!

  • Amimanot

Not sure… But there’s always adapters :D Even I’m forced to use one

  • Nicuuz

What kind of phone to you have?

  • Amimanot

I have the US Z3C and an International Arc S. And I currently live in the US for university. While the chargers for the Arc S are obviously going to need adapters, I use the many adapters I brought here from Malaysia on the QC charger just because I wanted them to have some use instead of being stored away. Let’s just say I was bored lol

  • Martin Ambre

i feel that were some sound fixes, did anyone notice any diff (using Jaybird Bluebud X with Sony Walkman) and the speaker volume is hard to hear

    close button brought near :)

Network Issue, suddenly drops and doesnt come back.. but same SIM works fine on different phone

    Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

  • Smuti

Actually it’s the other way around. Your Englih is quite hard to understand. But anyway your last post just showed your highly evolved you really are.

  • Don

Speaker volume. Missed calls, navigation app unuseable

  • Frankie

What has happened to the mute button? It used to be in the pull down settings, but it’s gone! Not happy.

  • Ryan Arseneau

I have to reboot my phone to factory settings now so that I can finally used it again. It’s now very glitchy, slow, doesn’t unlock, and doesn’t load text messages like it’s supposed to. If any one is having alot of problems with their phone like I am and have some how fixed it then please let me know because I’m in the process of backing up my phone now. I just hate it, nothing works right anymore on it and I lost access a bunch of apps I used to have access to. Just a warning that if you have not updated your phone yet, don’t bother, you could end up in the same boat as me and have a messed up phone now. :(

  • Hello, I am from Noida, India. My Sony Xperia Z2’s screen cracked mysteriously on the 6th of May 2015. One minute I see the phone in absolutely fine condition and the next minute when I picked it up to make a call, the screen was shattered (no fall, no crushing, no nothing), the phone was unusually warm and was sightly curved.

I upgraded to Lollipop a week ago, and it was around the same time when I noticed the unusually heating up of my Sony Xperia Z2 along with a prompt of a notice on my handset, that ‘Your Device is overheating…’ (I am not into gaming or anything, just the usual phonecalls, whatsapp and emails).

I purchased it in September 2014, my phone is still under warranty. On the 7th May 2015, I gave my handset for repairs at a Sony Service Centre in Noida and yesterday I got a call from them stating the cost of repairs- it is a whopping Rs. 26000/- for a replacing the screen and the motherboard.

Since then I have been surfing the net to find out more to my problem and realised that I am not the only one…I saw all these forums for this mysterious shattering of SONY XPERIA Z1, Z2 and Z3 and it is sad to state that SONY being such a reputed company hasn’t done anything for all these complaints and have been misleading consumers into buying such high end phone without giving any support (should such problems arise).

I have asked for my handset to be returned and I am not spending Rs. 26000/- on a handset for which I’d paid Rs. 45000/- already. Once I receive my handset I shall keep it for posterity, to remind myself of the horrible experience that I have had and that big name does not necessarily mean a good product. I shall also take pictures and post it on my BLOG and on FORUMS where I think it will help the unsuspecting customers from purchasing something as low grade and fraudulent as the SONY has been rolling out.

  • Kiwison

    yes I guess so

  • Francis Amann Eugenio

Just press volume button and then press the bell thing on the left most and your device is already on silent.

  • Chan Kin Cheung

did you place the phone on a desk and have a bright light concentrate on it? sunlight also counts

  • Raj Singh

Normally, yes, that works but not when you’re connected to a Bluetooth device. Totally different set of options appear.

I don’t no guys. Hope this update will fix something. I have Z3 Compact and i use to love my phone, but since lollipop update, the phone became slow and laggy. Hate it now. Pls tell me if someone experienced the same thing.

  • maybe its something to do with the fact that they are a huge company, people expect more? if it was just a small team working on this maybe people would appreciate it more. i had the z1 compact for a while and i couldnt understand why there were so many things missing or wrong with it. but z3 compact has hit the nail on the head, not much left to complain about really. …but there is always something more to complain about really :) like where is the camera raw? etc etc

  • Weeviking

Thats my girlfriend and I’s biggest problem, we a Z2 and Z3 and they both no way near as loud after the 4.4.4 updat… I used to be able to just use the phone speakers to listen to music now i can only do that if im stuffing it into my face and listen to music via my headphones on a busy Street now requires me to throw it on full blast to be able to hear it…

Also why the hell did they have to change sweep down settings menue? I could do everything i wanted from there and just hold the button in if i wanted to go to that specific settings option, they removed that??? Why would u take a step back like that

  • Matthew Mills

I have just Updated my Sony Experia Z1 to the new Lollipop 5.0.2 Build Number 14.5.A.0.270. So far so good a few little niggles like I have just received a Voice mail . I listen to the Voice mail and deleted the Voice mail and I continue to get notification that I have a New Voice mail. Next gripe moan is the notification bar/drop-down menu is very busy .

  • Marcelo Reis

You can use Rocker Locker or Sound Hud apps. These apps give you the proper usage of your volume buttons. This really should be default on Android.

  • Bratka

You could download “slider widget” from play store

  • Xperia Matej

Close all function is new? Come on ,it’s on 4.4.4 to ;)))
While reading the comments I think the KitKat is better for now then Lollipop 5.0.2 (about speakers and so on)

  • Pedro

Is it normal that I haven’t got this update yet? It’s really weird. I thing everyone got it already. I know a friend of mine with a Z2 and he has it for about a month :S
