Sony Quick Charger UCH10_ThumbThe Sony Quick Charger UCH10 is now available to order through the Sony Mobile Store in Europe. The UCH10 charger is Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 compliant, which means you can take advantage of faster charging times for the Xperia Z3+. Sony says that a 10 minute charge is good for 5.5 hours, whilst a 45 minute charge will last the day. The charger costs £19.99 in the UK and €29.00 in mainland Europe.

Sony Quick Charger UCH10_1

  • Nidou Xperia™

they should’ve included with the Z3+

  • jmaxim917

Sony is obviously plagued with production issues in their mobile division. They sporadically release every item. How do they keep track?

  • haxona

I bought it for my Z3+ and it flew through 50% in 30mins! So yeah it was well worth the price, I however think it should have been included with the phone itself :/

  • Abdul Ghani

i would buy one but will it work on z2?

  • haxona

I can test it out for you during the day on my Z2 :)

  • Abdul Ghani

nice i hope it ships soon global i mean

  • mukul verma

In India its free with z3+.

  • lucasakakarl

Save your money. Quickcharge 2.0 is not compatible with Z2. Only Z3+ benefits from the quick charge 2.0 feature.

  • haxona

The z2 does not support the charger from my initial impression, only 10% so far(25mins) the Z3+ was already done with 30-40 after 30mins.

  • haxona

Hmm, did you get an action cam though? Sweden had Action cam plus Chromecast bundles

  • Srijan Chawla

    Nope, only the charger

  • Srijan Chawla

It only works with the Japanese variant of the Z2 :(

  • haxona

Ahh I guess thats it then, I rather get the action cam and chromecast and pay 20 bucks for a charger though

  • Sweggity

    Works with Z3.

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

In UK if you buy a z3+ you get a free hi res bundle theres 2 one for mdr1a and another for loads of hi res albums

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

The z2 supports it sony have just made it inactive in the cpu for no reason

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Yep thats right! Cant see why sony have done that bit of a silly move suppose thats like the Japanese z and the ir blaster though

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Does z2 even support quick charge 1.0? Apparently z2 tablet has quick charge 2.0 is this true?

  • theskig

I still prefer my old 550 mAh charger

  • haxona

Correction the ahip supports it but not the Z2(D6503)

  • haxona

    I would guess so

  • haxona

How if I may ask as soon as you start using the phone it will draw more power than it ia receiving

  • Dale

So this definitely will work with the original Z3?

  • Abdul Ghani

Ohh no Sony what have u done snapdragon 800 801 805 810 all have quick charge 2.0

  • Felix

Just charge the phone at night.

If you treat the battery well (do not discharge below 30% or so if not needed; use slow (USB) charging if possible) then it will last you a phone lifetime. The battery in my Xperia neo was still doing a day on light usage easily after 4 years.

  • JaroB

It will work through the dock?

  • theskig

Yes, I use it only for big charge during night (it takes 5 hours and a half to completely recharge a Z3 from dead).
If I need a charge during day I use the standard one.

  • theskig

I agree but I always discharge battery as much as I can (often to dead).
Never had a problem with a battery in all these years of cellphones.
If I charge my Z3 at 30% I’ll lose 1 day of use, so why have a big battery if you’re scared of using it? Sony engineers put limits for not damage them with overdischarge.

  • RealityCheck2015

Sounds cool :P This is the 1 main sh*t thing about phones nowadays i.e Battery Life & charging them for hours :-/ But saying that i got a Z1 still so this is no good for me :D

  • amirulJeffry

Does it work with Z3 Compact too?

  • haxona

The chip does but the Z2 has it inactivated from the factory. its possible someone has made a mod or something but no idea.

  • haxona

I like to use my phone when charging at night so it would definitely not help. but sure I get your point

  • Alvin

    Really?

  • rygarto

Yes, all recent Xperias have supported QC 1.0 (drawing 1.5A @ 5V).
Sony just hasn’t been including the power circuitry necessary to support QC 2.0 until Z3+. The only exceptions have been models released on Japanese market.
QC 2.0 can use 9V charging, increasing the amount of power without additional requirements for the charging cable maximum current.

  • Timel

Samsung built in quick charger in S6 , while Xperia fanboys must pay more for quick charger. LOL

  • Niels d. G.

So, not much faster than a regular charger.

  • Svnjay

    The Z3 supports quick charge.

  • vigneshprince

will it work on xperia Z2?

  • vigneshprince

can you suggest a fast charging charger for my Xperia Z2?

  • vigneshprince

can you suggest a fast charging charger for my Xperia Z2?

  • haxona

    As mentioned it doesnt, sorry

  • haxona

There really isnt any better way to charge than the 1.5A chargera that come with the Z2. It doesnt support a higher rate

  • nfs2010

I was also trying to find a faster charging way for Z2. I even tried the 10W/2.1A ipad charger for a slight bump, didn’t help :(

  • Vladislav

Did u tried? Cause sony support wrote me that i works only with tablets (z2, z3c, z4), z3c and japanese z2/z3. Worldwide version of z2 and z3 dont have support of qc2.0

  • lucasakakarl

I don’t think quickcharge 1.0 uses 1.5A as the input, as I know back in 2012 qc1.0 already used 5v 2.0A as the input. While qc2.0 uses above 5v/2.0A for the input.

  • rygarto

QC1.0 upgraded standard usb current from 500 mA up to 2000 mA, but Sony’s charging controller only draws up to 1500 mA.

The main advantage of QC 2.0 is using a higher voltage at up to 2A, because for current over 2A you would just need thicker USB wires. Higher voltage (9V) avoids that problem and works with current cables.

  • mukul verma

    for z2 & z3, EP881 quickcharger.

  • nfs2010

881 is the retail version of 880. Shame on Sony for calling it a quick charger :(

  • Sweggity

go to qualcomm quick charger website… there z3 is listed

  • amirulJeffry

I meant Z3 Compact, not Z3. But nevermind. Found out that it worked with Z3 Compact, and magnetic dock also. xD Thanks anyway.

  • vigneshprince

here Z2, doesnt comes with 1.5A charger.

  • feyemahi

It also went on to start a boat outboard motor
and happily ran a 12v electric boat trolling motor. One feature we especially
liked was that the jumper cables were different lengths – meaning it would be
quite hard to accidentally short them out. You also get a handy plastic storage
box to keep everything together and protected when not in use.
