Z5_green_groupSony Mobile has officially unveiled the newest member of its flagship Z series in the form of the Xperia Z5 (E6603, E6653) and Xperia Z5 Dual (E6633, E6683). The key additions in Sony’s latest flagship is the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor power button, along with a 23MP Exmor RS rear camera capable of a super-quick 0.03 second hybrid autofocus, the fastest in the world.

The Sony Xperia Z5 features a 23MP 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS rear camera sensor with F2.0 G Lens – it is the first completely re-designed smartphone camera module since the Xperia Z1. Sony says it has been designed in conjunction with Sony’s Alpha ? camera engineers. The Xperia Z5 can focus within 0.037 seconds, faster than the blink of a human eye. It also has a 5.1MP Exmor R front-facing camera, unlike the 13MP front camera found on the Xperia M5 and C5 Ultra. However, like the Xperia M5, it does have 5x clear image zoom.

The new fingerprint sensor power button supports the FIDO standard for authentication and will allow an easy way to unlock your device “in one natural movement”. In terms of design, the Sony Xperia Z5 has a metal frame, frosted glass back and an etched XPERIA logo side engraving.

The Sony Xperia Z5 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution IPS display with 424 PPI pixel density and a screen-to-phone ratio of 70.91%. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 chipset (2.0 GHz/1.5GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 430 GPU) and 3GB RAM.

Other specs include 32GB internal storage (21.7GB usable), IP65/IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, capless USB charging, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and a 2900mAh ‘two-day’ battery. The handset also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.

The Sony Xperia Z5 has dimensions of 146 x 72 x 7.3mm and weighs 154 grams. The Sony Xperia Z5 is expected to launch in October 2015 with four different colours to choose from: White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green.

Sony dump me in a dilemma between the standard Z5 and the Z5 Premium because of the design..

  • masi0

does it come with microsd slot?

  • If the battery life is better than on the Z3+, Z5 looks like a very likely candidate for my next phone. Unless the Z6 justifies its extra price at the time.

  • Shubham Mutreja

    YOU KNOW WHAT?
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I LIKED A SMARTPHONE WITH HUGE SCREEN!!

  • JMonkeYJ

Which image sensor is it? I thought IMX230 was only 21MP, but I’m not aware of a newer sensor. Could anyone please post links to sensor info if you know any, thanks.

  • Yes.

  • Yes it does… Time for celebration…!!!

  • Jaissal S

Ok, I think its time to definetly upgrade my Z1! But this is going to cost alot I can tell. Just the regular Z5 for me thanks. I look forward to how the fingerprint scanner will work with android and especially the apps. Basically like how Touch ID works for Apple.

  • mukul verma

z5 is definitely an upgrade to old series & z1 series.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

“Selfie is now possible on 23MP with new Improved Sony Mirror Technology” Make.Believe :D LOL

  • Shubham Mutreja

The sensor is custom made for sony only
The sensor has large area that wil help us to get 20 MP image in 16:9
The lens is now 24mm (WTF?) with 5x clear zoom and .03 sec auto focus! (WTF!)

Hope the image from Z5 will be great as CEO said that the image technology on Z5 come from the cooperation between the engineer from Camera division and Mobile division

    Xperia Z5 colors …

  • Kompa_

I recently broke my Z1C, and was thinking about waiting to order the Z5C but I’m not sure if the upgrade is worth the wait? There isn’t any real big upgrade from Z3C? The only real upgrade I quess is the Snapdragon 810? What do you others think?

  • nfs2010

Good thing is that the sensor size didn’t shrink like it did on IMX230/240 & we got PDAF & other good stuff

    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/135084-sony-xperia-z5-camera-sample-images-and-new-tech-explained

  • KarFar

the ONLY ‘bad’ thing is that the Z5 and the Z5 compact have under 70% screen/body ratio

  • Prateek Bhanushali
  • Cod3rror

Compact has only 2GB of RAM… nouuuuuuu!!!!

Why is Sony so stingy with the RAM? All phones should’ve had 4GB, it’s what modern flagships come with.

  • H-R-K

    One of the best……..

  • Alvin

Yeah i feel like i want to cry right now

  • nfs2010

So it does have OIS !

Sony has made a number of changes to the image stabilisation system.

There’s a new closed-loop actuator in the camera that controls the lens position. Essentially, this is adding a feedback loop to the previous open-loop actuator, aiming to make it more accurate. Sony claims that the new unit deals much better with controlling motion.

    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/135084-sony-xperia-z5-camera-sample-images-and-new-tech-explained

  • I’m surprised no one’s concerned about the battery. The Z5 is as thick as Z3, but has a smaller battery than the Z3+.

  • Cod3rror

I like the stabilization but colours look strange. Also tap to focus not supported? I hope Sony really mastered the auto-focus.

  • Shubham Mutreja

    it actually looks classically sexy

  • Shubham Mutreja

    Really wow!!

  • Franciscus Michael Panggabean

well other than the chip, there’s also new camera censor and fingerprint scanner.

  • Miles Bugdayci

No wireless Qi charging? Too bad..

  • percentaged

it is digital image staibilization tho not OIS iirc,It’s great but not what people hope for.
Still i get the phone tho.

  • nfs2010

This is mechanical stabilization. Digital one is SW stabilization.

  • Kompa_

Very true, the censor is very tempting but I’m not sure if I’ll make enough use of it. And to me the fingerprint scanner isn’t anything but a new way to lock my phone.

  • kido

gosh i’m selling my z3c for the z5c….why do u want a z3c when this beast has arrived?

  • Prateek Bhanushali

It seems Sharpness and details are excellent considering its recorded on 1080p. Color issue is of Software one and can be sorted out easily. For Focus, it is hell fast !!!

  • percentaged

Oh okay thanks for the heads up.

  • Kompa_

Is it that much of beast? Is the processor upgrade that big? Heard it had some heating issues too.
And Z3C just upgraded to new android, didn’t it?

  • xAntifreeZe

z5 premium claims to have 2 days screen on time…

  • Don Reba

So, Z3 Compact is thinner and lighter than Z5C while having the same amount of RAM and nearly the same battery capacity. The new model feels like a step down.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpwrI4WAQ-k

What happened to Sony’s UI.?? Its not the familiar one o_O

  • mountain
  • PasserBy

The UI is from the Sony Android Concept for the Swedish Z3, don’t know why they use it in the Z5.. Looks incomplete -.-

  • Alvin

I want to see timel’s expression now… I want to see how happy he is for the first time ever

  • kido

yup, but i tell you the auto focus isnt great (especially in low light) on the z3c camera wise, and if the z5c can focus in only 0.03 seconds thats blazing fast. We have to wait for a full review to see if the heating issues are resolved by i am pretty sure that sony has solved that since the z3+. Plus the z5c has a slightly bigger battery which will undoubtedly mean awesome battery life!

  • Battal Aljadei

Look at what Sony has done to the Compact model !?

  • mukul verma

now where the hell are all people who says sd810 is failure because of heating.

  • Alvin

I want to scream to the world right now…. About this thing.. I’m overreacting now… Can’t resist the amazingness of the series.. Big leap from z3+, definitely

  • percentaged

    What is it?

  • Alvin

Believe me. You cant resist these beasts

  • Snorky112

    toy for kids

  • kido

Ok no over heating for the z5 series with SD810, I dont want to hear anyone complain about overheating again period.

  • Alvin

No freakin way mate…. Not screen on time, but standby with normal usage

  • Alvin

BIG DEAL! you can resist my sexyness!?

  • ludimilojko

Sweet Holy Mother Of God!!! I want that Z5Compact! No, wait, i want that Z5Premium! No, wait, i want that regular Z5! No, wait … AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIJu_77GNUw

10mins of 4k and phone didn’t over heat….(He said So)
    5min on-screen time and battery dropped from 72 to 71 !!! This is beast…….

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

Sony seemed to crack the overheating issue. Saw btekt video and I’m overjoyed with the news. Too bad they didn’t support camera api2 (which I’m not sure if they have implemented or not) but if the shots are amazing and manual settings do the job I think we all can live with that but I wish they give us that option too.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    Yep….. Looks a bit Incomplete here !!!

  • Alvin

Ummm…. My z3 battery with 30 min sot but it is on 95%..:P lol, it is a beast though

  • Blacksparrow15

I don’t think Timel’s going to be happy. He always find a hole where he can bash for the sake of trolling :)

  • mukul verma

its vanilla android, sony new concept.

  • Camilo Uribe

The green one is mine !! (I mean will be ) hahaha just beautiful!!

  • Aiden Pearce

They have done again with battery like this their z20 will have 1000 mah battery whats wrong with them.when z2 came with whooping 3200 mah ppl went mad and nw they are going on decreasing the capacity.. Or do think physical capacity doesn’t matter??

  • Gezati
  • Alvin

No, he is a sony user i believe. But he’s just trolling here with an intention to make sony better. But it’s just… It’s a wrong place since no sony employees would read his comments and our comments

  • Nick Digenis

    Sony’s new Mirror :)

  • Alvin

EVERYTHING IN HERE ARE ALL mine…. If i had any money even to buy one of them-_-

  • hocestquisumus

    So pretty. So WANT.

    However… bank’s computer says no :(

  • Tjaldid

    better heat displacement or camera?

  • Svnjay

Timel can’t complain about the camera now.

  • SopNaw

    Wow, that awesome color *_*

And yea, it seem that you can now see your face behind the phone better than a all black screen, in your pocket, no need to go to a looking-glass

  • Tjaldid

well the camera is a sicable upgrade I think the build quality is better to

  • Alvin

Actually, he can… After the reviews came out… We all know what sony have done with that beast:)

  • kido

oh crap the greenish teal color on the z5 is luring me away from the z5c… :( I hate you sony

  • xAntifreeZe

    ikr!

  • SONY only

    Xperia Z5
    Xperia Z5 Premium
    Xperia Z5 Compact

  • Kotatsu

Exactly. It’s a shame they don’t have greenish color on z5c

  • Thadir

But why the Snapdragon 810 it has been giving greef in most of the Xperia phones… Lets hope they can fix that heating problem before it hits stores.

  • mukul verma

they had fixed, so don’t worry about heating.

  • hansip

Wow true selfie phone without having to view display *.*

  • Thadir

Not yet, the Z3+ is still running and closing a lot of apps out of the blue bc of heaitng.. So yeah I do worry.

And i read rumors that the 820 also has some heating issus :S

  • kido

watch watch the BTEKT videos below. The z5 recorded up to 10 minutes on 4k, and didn’t overheat. Name a phone that can do that apart from the z3.

  • Alessandro Romano

    AWESOME

  • shenoy

The question here is how wisely rear panel manage scratches. Once scratched, then no more premium feel, I guess… Not sure. But rock soild build quality.

  • mukul verma

I am not talking about z3+, I am talking about z5 & I think you also talking about z5 not z3+.

  • Timel

Hey Svnjay So now what are you gonna say? Sony copies Samsung finally

  • KzX

    I swear to god
That damn beautiful Z5 Premium will be my next phone.

  • mukul verma

from where the hell sony copies?? plz elaborate

  • Emir Zarith

hey did they really use “fully stock android” and noy vanilla android anymore like before

I kneww matee.. Me toooo, it is so late now here, and tomorrow have to go to school.. But just can’t and don’t want to sleep :(

  • shenoy

Awesome. Moreover we don’t know, final production software may still boost the clarity.

  • Jackie Chan

where can i get the true white theme in the white z5 shown? notice the three touch screen buttons at the bottom are outlined in black. the current so called white is actually grey.

  • Steven Khoo Skkl

    Dude..Go to sleep, it’s 12.30

  • Cod3rror

They should get rid of their icons. Keep Android stock icons.

  • kido

Oh shut up, I have a test today and I have been up all night…lol

  • Timel
  • Svnjay

    I agree :)

  • Svnjay

    12:40pm here.

  • Svnjay

Sony has been using glass since 2013.

  • Steven Khoo Skkl

    Where are you living at??
    I live in Malaysia,so it’s 12.40 a.m.. Lol..
The Z5 is really exciting me..Most probably gonna be my phone when it releases this end year.

  • Svnjay

Sony has had glass since the Xperia Z? Samsung copied Sony. Thankfully, Sony didn’t copy Samsung’s protruding camera.

  • Swaglord

Shitsung recently used glass.. Sony has been using for a long time..

  • a.mubher

Good thinking. I didn’t think of it that way

  • Svnjay

It’s 12:40 pm in certain parts of the US, Canada and the Caribbean :)

I agree, the Z5 looks good. The Z5 Premium will probably be very expensive :(

  • WilliamTell13

Damn, the quality is really good for the being the front camera!

  • Steven Khoo Skkl

    Oh..cool…. :D

That unfortunately, I have to agree.. Just hoping it lives up to all the hype, then it’ll be worth the price….Maybe

  • Ritesh Ramtohul

So 007 will use the Z5 or the Z5 premium ?

  • mukul verma

    z5 premium

  • Kunal Shukla

At first I wasn’t so sure about the same omnibalance design but I am really liking the z5 series phones. Probable the best iteration their design philosphy

  • Haldi

So the Camera is an IMX2??

  • Arngrim

Can’t decide between Compact or regular one. D=

  • Kunal Shukla

so now the status bar icons and text color changes with the theme. Cool. And a new camera interface as well. I also like how the back has a little matte finish. this would help with the finger prints on back problem.

  • Ritesh Ramtohul

Wait… Did she said 4k HEVC video recording !!

  • Dupel

Xperia Z5 does not look like an upgrade over Z3. What do you say??

    http://smartphonetechie.com/why-sony-xperia-z5-is-not-an-upgrade-over-xperia-z3/

  • Matt

The camera sounds really promising. Now I’m waiting for the reviews

If the camera is great. Than pretty much the closest smartphone gets to perfection. And more importantly no disgusting camera hump in slender body.

  • mukul verma

timel get your eyes checked by doctor, cant u see diff between the color of sony & samsung. & in either way I can say your Samsung copies sony for back glass buddy. from now onwards give me some thing that I cant defend otherwise you’ll lose from me.

  • Steven Khoo Skkl

BTW was referring to Alvin.. He’s Malaysian too if I’m not mistaken.. Lol..I think

  • mukul verma

its an bullshit site by some bullshit people.

  • Svnjay

Yep, it will be smart to wait for reviews before pulling the trigger :)

  • Timel

these things stop me from buying Z5 premium and Z5 family
    – SD810 (shitty CPU like we all know)
    – 3GB (why not 4GB? your rivals such as Note 5 and other flagships in Q4 2015 will come with 4GB and to be honest I think adding more RAM is very usefull than increasing the useless Display’s resolution)
    – 4K resolution (4K relution? seriously? Even Full HD resolution on Z3+ that i played Modern combat 5 it’s still laggy so dont waste the time to talk about user experience with 4K display… It’s gonna be disaster.
    – Bulky bezels,i love the overall design actually but the bezels are still pretty huge, especially the top and bottom bezels, they should be smaller than this

  • Svnjay

Haha, I understand. My bad :)

  • Ritesh Ramtohul
  • Steven Khoo Skkl

Yup. I’ll be getting the Z5 for sure as my Z has just about run out of puff in the world of 2015/16.. But the Z5 P is really tempting especially in Chrome.. Haha..I think if the reviews are good, I can recommend that to anyone easily, especially in my country where phablets are the biggest sellers

  • Brick

It looks like they have perfected the omnibalance design with this one. There’s really nothing wrong with it now that they made the usb capless and redesigned the speaker slots imo, the device looks sleek and very professional. Maybe with the next one we’ll see a revolution in terms of looks? Redesigned camera sensor sounds good too, maybe they perfected it by combining their alpha series technology with the old g sensor. I was pretty satisfied with the Z3 already, never really agreed with those people who said the quality was shit, the difference with top camera phones like the Samcuck S6 was minimal in my eyes and barely noticeable or not noticeable at all on downscaled pics for everyday use. It’s cool they didn’t get into the ultra hd display gimmick, the increase in dpi is not noticeable at all on such a small screen, the battery life and game performance drop is more noticeable on such high res display phones.

That being said, I’m not getting it since the Z3 works so well, maybe I’ll get the next one. I hope the older models won’t get left behind in terms of software features, but it seems Sony is trustworthy on this judging from the good job they did with the Z series so far.

  • CELTICJRB

    Me too, I hope…

  • mukul verma

price confirm on sonymobile UK site
    z5 – 599 pound
    z5 premium- 699 pound
    z5c – 549 pound

    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/

  • Arngrim

Can also say a store in sweden has a release date of 29th of september.

  • Confruggy

    It’s the Sony MDR-Hairdryer AP

  • Timel

    LOL I Agree

  • hmmm

    IMX230

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    Indeed ;)

  • Robson Kanyama

    I love the camera UI

  • Jun Yan

judging from the real world camera samples taken, image processing software is as shitty as ever, i dun see any improvements over the old models, i have been a huge xperia fan but this really disappoints me.

  • daniel kudo

Finally Sony change the Camera UI!!!

  • nfs2010

The exact model number is not available yet. But it has a 1/2.3″ sensor that’s bigger than IMX230 & 240

  • daniel kudo

Finally, Sony change the Camera UI!!!

  • daniel kudo

Finally Sony change the Camera UI!!!

  • mike

shit, the z5 also has etched logo, deal breaker for me. thought just premium.

  • mike

these pics so ugly. no ideal people like Samsung, a low cost manufacturer.

  • RoberMC

Finally Sony Nailed it, it is time to replace my original Xperia Z

  • uwutm8

You’re an idiot. If you had paid any attention to any Android news source following the Z5 you’d have known Sony fixed the heating issues with the 810. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BfBakhs8To

Regardless of 1 flagship boasting 4GB, anything more than 2GB is a wash. There is literally zero apps that take advantage of 4GB to the point of the end user seeing ANY difference.

4K is the standard, don’t want 4K? Don’t buy flagships. Flagships lead the forefront of the sea of Android devices. Not the phone’s fault that it didn’t cater to your 1080p tastes.

Large bezels = easier to hold. Razer thin phones are ridiculous, do you know the meaning of the word ergonomic? It means comfort, Razor thin phones =/=comfort. Dainty hands need not apply here.

Camera, where did you read that it has no manual controls, or RAW support? You realize that the RAW support isn’t on the OEM, it’s on Google and their camera code?

Wonder why OEMs continue to release phones without DAC or Amps on their devices? Because there’s no code in Android that supports unless you find a rom on XDA. You’re talking a niche’ market there buddy. Also, if you were a true audiophile you’d be listening to vinyls on your 1972 Panasonic RD-3600.

Next time research before you sperg rage and decide the device is unworthy to your fedora wearing tastes.

  • kido

LOL timel no one cares about what u think.

  • Chitti- The Robot

People who are at IFA that took Z5 hands on are speaking that there is not too much heat. Looks like Sony went with 7.3 mm to overcome heating. Also they could have used better version of 810. Device looks very promising and frosted glass backs looks great. Feeling postivice about battery life. If reviews conclude that it has good battery life, Z5 here my money comes!
Feeling sad for Z3+ users though.

  • RoberMC

    Duuumb,

-The SD810 v.2.1 in the Z5 is fixed and obliterates any other soc. Heat test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BfBakhs8To

-3GB RAM in a 1080p screen is waaaay enough. Modern combat 5 does not lag in any xperia since Z1

-If you don’t like the bezels, even if the screen to front face ratio is better than the iPhone, go, buy another phone, and stop trolling here.

-they already said they will incorporate the new Android camera controls from November, with RAW support, etc, etc.

-¿what is so bad with snapdragon DAC, and Sony’s DSEE HX. It sounds astonishing for a phone.

  • daniel kudo

    And this

  • RoberMC

No, he is paid by xperiablog to bring controversy here –> more visits

There is no way a human being would be so troll by its own will.

  • I really like all these new phones, but as a T-Mobile customer in the US, I’m really concerned that HSPA+ 1700 (Band IV) isn’t listed in any of the whitepapers. My current Z2 has it and I certainly fall to it here and there when not on LTE (phone calls for example).

However, It does include LTE Band 12 support, which is great as a T-Mobile US customer.

  • Simon Setyadarma

Please kid, 2 people already mock you down by called you idiot and dumb.
Please, don’t thumb up your own comment, “Don’t get this wrong, you’re the dumbest person in life” -Fat Amy

  • Simon Setyadarma

Hope they’ll bring it to the older model.. It would be so great :)

  • Simon Setyadarma

Better than that, I hope they will reach US Market, even I don’t live in US, but yeah US people has been waiting so long for this (?)

  • fried_egg

pre-ordered the Z1 in gold from EE… now, will the gold get a launch delay ?? anyway, get on with it sony i am waiting !!

  • Charles Walker

Sony not only nailed it, but potentially raped their entire competition.

  • fried_egg

its why i didnt wait for the premium… in a boozer a mirror to your ear is not a good thing

  • fried_egg

pre ordered the Z5 in gold from EE…. now come on sony, no delaying the colour options from launch date…

  • fried_egg

i take it the 3rd of oct is the day it will be in the shops!

  • Any US availability will be great, but they *have* to include HSPA+ 1700 for maximum compatibility with T-Mo’s network! They’ve included it on all phones up until now. Why remove that now?

  • Nawi

    I don’t care

    ignore and report
    always ignore and report!

  • Dupel

Valid reason they have to support it!

  • Haldi

    “IMX230 is a diagonal 7.487mm (Type 1/2.4) 21 Megapixel”
    Nope, not a 230

  • Haldi

    wish it would be 1/1.6″

  • Matt

Note 5 needs 4 GB RAM, still with 4gb it needs to aggressively close app in the background.. Hmm I wonder why.

Touchwizz is faster they say only because it closes app vigorously in the background. Again brilliant invention on samsung part.

Unlike Sony only deliver stable update and solid feature

  • kido

Ok now that these phones are official, hopefully we’ll have some news about whether they support the google camera api2.

  • Cezary Raczy?ski

    Two types of menu :O

  • Prateek Bhanushali

I don’t know but apart from every other thing which is excellent here, the rear camera seems to oversharpen again !!! Processing isn’t mature at all. Videos have come up good till now :/

  • el_sur

    Video is no joke.

  • So I’m starting to think there’s a typo in all the whitepapers. Both Z5 models E6603 and E6653 list the exact same GSM/HSPA/LTE bands, which historically isn’t the same. The xx33 models are usually Asia-specific to my recollection and the xx03 models being primarily Europe/Americas band compatible.

    E6603 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II),
    2100 (Band I) MHz
    GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
    LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 38, 40)

    E6653 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II),
    2100 (Band I) MHz
    GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
    LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 38, 40)

Here’s the Z3 Compact models. Note the differents in UMTS and LTE band support between models.

    D5803 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV),
    1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
    GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
    LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20)

    D5833 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II),
    2100 (Band I) MHz
    GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
    LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28)
    TD LTE Band 40

Here’s hoping they update accordingly so I can get one of these new phones :)

there are some retards who will hate z5 series and m5 because it does not have raw and full manual controls well they are retards and they always be because sony did the best thing ever with z5 series and m5 fast auto focus and quick capture and never miss a moment because ull get the shot what u want in first try

  • ga_pechorin

What’s the speed of the slow motion? Still 120 fps?

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    Its IMX300….

  • Billy Gate

They ruined the Compact by adding giant bezels to it. It’s now barely smaller than the Z5. ROFL.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

    Check this

I knew it’s impossible, but if that glass back is catching actions better than their rear camera…. I would be pissed:D

  • Raj Singh

What makes you think Sony added huge bezels to it?

  • Raj Singh

Daniel Craig is an idiot. Fuck him.

    From the leaked emails:

“Beyond the dollar factor, there is, as you may know, a creative factor whereby Sam and Daniel don’t like the Sony phone for the film (the thinking, subjectively/objectively is that James Bond only uses the ‘best,’ and in their minds, the Sony phone is not the ‘best’),” the email reads. “Having said that, David said if Sony made a fair market offer, that Barbara, armed with a ‘solid’ financial proposal would go to work on Sam and Daniel and get this pushed through creatively. He obviously can’t guarantee that result (and he said as much), but he seemed very genuine and forthright on our call.”

  • Raj Singh

That is incorrect. The body/screen ratio is >70 percent. It’s 70.91 to be exact, over 70, not under…

Another video test at 1080p. As quality seems nice, I found some lens issue with every Video sample till now. When facing to the light directly, there seems a purple flare !!! Even with the images !!!

If Sony really did nail the camera (god please let this new sensor be worthy) then I finally think I’ll jump on the next xperia z6 since it will hopefully have the snapdragon 820 and android M on board. I really hope they decide to go with pretty much stock android like they’ve been experimenting with in the Sweden beta bc sony’s UI icons everywhere are horrendous, something I cant change with a launcher

  • MyLive

That white one looks sexy and match with clean white wallpaper and black color of battery, signal, soft key etc notification upper and bottom.. But how in real life they still using white? I really hope that there’s a addtional setting to change the color of those notification in the new UI..

  • mukul verma

I think apple has more giant bezels against z5c. iPhone 6 has 65.8% screen to body ratio, & z5c has 68.9%. so how can u say z5c has giant bezels.

  • hmmm

I BET WE ALL HATE THE WHITE BACKGROUND ONE!!!!

  • Thadir

I am in both. A dutch website (tweakers) had a hands on of a early build and this is what they said: (source: http://tweakers.net/reviews/4166/sonys-xperia-z5-serie-drie-nieuwe-modellen-van-4-komma-6-tot-5-komma-5-inch.html)

    Google translate:

    Three times the Snapdragon 810

Xperia Z5 screenshot Sony has chosen to equip all Z5 models with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810-soc. Although chosen is perhaps not the right word; much choice is there are not. MediaTek is not a serious option, Samsung provides only marginally to other companies and then you will quickly Qualcomm out, which is currently offers for the high-end segment, the Snapdagon 808 and 810. The GPU in the first is not powerful enough to drive the 4K panel in the Z5 premium, so the choice for the Snapdragon 810 is logical.

The Snapdragon 810 with four Cortex A53- and four Cortex A57 cores a swift soc and in the short time we could spend with the three phones we had to criticize anything else on the speed. From experience, we know that the 810, including the new 2.1 version which probably is in these phones, is a hot head and eats a lot of power. Whether you with these phones end up being a whole day on the battery will be able to work thus remain a question.

Which heat development ensured the Xperia Z3 + if you could let the camera crash, purely by using it long. That problem occurred specifically at the FrontCam, in combination with an option that different masks on the face of the user is projecting. Extremely sloppy course and a high-end phone unworthy. We had hoped that Sony would not make that mistake again, but also in the Z5 aircraft closed the camera app in this scenario within half a minute off because of too high a temperature rising. As we said previously though the firmware that ran the machines far from new, the kernel build date was June 26, so Sony has yet time to optimize business. It is hoped that it also solves this problem

You also don’t need s*** from other manufacturers with these

WISH WOULD GET ALL ELEVEN OF THESE

  • Stylinred

i love the green on the Z5, i wish the premium or compact came in that shade too :(

  • ????????????

    buy me one.

Basically it’s the same.. But things those are changed are the way it works and the placement of things, but the ui still looks the same sony minimalistic style, which is beautiful to me..

  • ????????????

    > 5min on-screen time and battery dropped from 72 to 71

Afterall it’s a rounded number so you can’t really measure how much time to drop 1% by going for 72 to 71, if it goes down from 73 to 72 to 71 that’s measurable.

    No. You. By me one

  • Matt

yep and you got 3 gb of ram , Note 5 reloads the 4 th app as soon as you open a new app with 4 gb of ram (look at the youtube video)

    weird right?

  • aNotInUseUsername

so my question is, what’s the difference between M5 & Z5? despite camera sensor size and battery.

  • Albert Graham
  • Alessandro Berti

My only concern about this Z5 is weight.. 154 g is sooooo much (Z3c is 129g, M4 136 g for example) otherwise excellent Phone!

  • walkingagh

The camera2 api introduced in lollipop allows raw photography, it’s just most manufacturers don’t bother to implement it. LG G4, and HTC One M9 has raw built in. And it is fully supported in Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 with a simple software purchase.

after reading the whitepapers the difference between the 2 models seems to be that the e6653 has cat6 LTE while the 6603 deals with cat 3 only. i still dont understand the purpose of releasing 2 phones with the same bands though. might as well come out with one cat6 model

also, tmobile is refarming their LTE to the 1700 band (band 4), and moving all HSPA to the 1900 band. makes it a lot easier to buy phones in the future

  • Jerry Berglund

Ok I really love this phones. :-) I do kinda like this nifty thing with the Xperia-Logo on the side. :-) looks really premium that way. But I do think they should have keeped the magnetic charger port also. I mean that USB-port is usually the part that breaks first. To be honest I think it would have been better to maybe only have the magnetic charger then USB because its easy and to charge. :-)

  • Afzal Zainal Rddz

    Love the green color

  • AndS

The phones seem pretty good, IMO weaker than the Note5(It doesn’t seem to have any advantage over it, really) but it’s also priced lower so it seems fair.

However, can anyone actually defend the 4K screen on the premium?. It brings literally 0 advantages and a whole suit of disadvantages. Samsung was the only company who needed QHD because of their Pentile, and only on the note. However, everyone followed suit like sheep.
Now 4K, on an 5.5 inch LCD is plain stupid Sony, I’m sorry.

  • peltruquin

They also will have to enable voLTE on band 12. Right now as is band 12 will only give you data and you won’t be able to make or receive calls under band 12, not even 911. Not so worried about HSPA+ 1700 since they are phasing out band 4 on their HSPA network

  • Russell

It looks like the Dual Sim versions (E6633 & E6833) both have band IV according to the white paper
