Xperia Z Ultra_14.6.A.1.236_WMSony Mobile has begun to roll out a small update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra models with build number 14.6.A.1.236. Initial reports suggest few noticeable changes over the previous build (14.6.A.1.216), hence we expect this to just be a small bug-fixing update. I imagine this is a few simple patches and doesn’t require absolutely everything to be re-tested. And remember they have to test every variant of firmware made for each carrier, for perhaps three different models.

14.6.A.1.216 still not available in Poland (non carrier Z1C), hope we get .236 instead.

This might sound off topic but couldn’t find where to post my question. I have a sony UL (SOL22) that I bought from KDDI couple of years ago, and has a cracked screen and I need to replace it. The replacement fee from KDDI was very high (about 200 euros). I’m wondering what is the screen that could match UL’s dimentions? Is there any Xperia phone with similar dimentions? I could not find a new UL screen for sale on the internet. Anyone can give me a hand? Thanks.

  • Tried downloading the OTA.. Error occured, could not verify. Will have to download a pre-rooted FTF and flash through recovery instead :)

  • Tau45

    Got it today :)

  • jaime_arg

Marshmallow is on pretty much zero percent of phones so it’s not at all surprising.
We have the newest wide-spread version possible so we’ve got that going for us which is nice.

  • Sandra Caprichosa

Hi. What can u say about ur z1? And you’re using it for how long? Does it serve u well?

  • sAndal

With the update for my Z1C i have some sort of power vampire
Usualy i had to recharge every second evening but since the update i need to recharge twice a day. No other changes done.
anyone has an idea what this could be?

  • HiengOng

My z1 random shut down a few months ago after 5.0.2 update(i think either the lollipop update killed my battery or maybe just the battery reached it’s max usage. It was a brilliant phone with decent battery life when i first bought it early 2014.

  • MoYeung

Anybody experiencing high battery drain after updating to this firmware?

  • MoYeung

My Z1 battery is draining fast too.

  • MoYeung

Did you report the issue to Sony mobile?

  • Ryosuke Takahashi

already report to sony mobile, but still no solution

  • Gautham S V

If you have unlocked your bootloader, you will get this error. OTA will not work

  • Vanja

This actually improved my battery life. I used to get 1.5 hours of screen on time, but after this update, I’m getting 3 hrs.

  • dquilon

Woa, 1.5 hours of SOT is veeery bad… My old Acro S used to get at least 2 hours… And my Z3C in KitKat last about 5…. I expect my wife’s Z1c to get at least 4

  • make

this update has been bad. media server drained heavily battery randomly. scans SD. thought it will do it just once after update but no. Had to format SD to fix it. Also wifi wont enable sometimes. reboot fixes

  • thexray

you’re supposed to get 1.5-2.5 hrs on high brightness and up to 3.5/4 hours on power saving (brightness low)

  • espectro

help 60% to 0%, reboot and now 50%.
    The battery is crazy

  • espectro

    Someone help me.
After the update the batery is crazy.

  • dquilon

Actually I get around 5 hours of SOT consistently and most of that time my screen is at 80%. I have it to automatically change depending on my use… I have a XSP-N1BT car stereo that uses my phone as its display, and when is connected my screen is forced to 80%… after disconnecting, the display stays at 80% but Adaptive….

According to my Lifelog, in December I averaged 1 hour and 40 minutes of music listening every day…. 40 minutes of games (mostly Modern Combat 5)… 26 pictures daily… 25 minutes of local Video (movies stored in my device)… 1 hour of browsing… 30 minutes of 9GAG…

If I play a graphic intensive game such as Modern Combat 5 I can get around 3 hours of Gameplay (SOT) and if I only browse the web and read (such as waiting for a flight, or for a doctors appointment) I can get up to 7 hours of SOT…

By the way I never use Stamina, I only tap it in case of an emergency (no power supply around) but this is not my routine.

So in my opinion 1.5 hours of SOT even with brightness on high is a very bad result…
For the Z1 Compact 3-4 hours should be the average depending on usage.

  • Joey Scannell

This update will ruin your battery.
I was getting just over an hour screen on time.
I had to replace the battery.

  • I wanted to unlock my bootloader but it says no… Do you know a firmware that allows unlocking?

  • Clov’

Still on 5.0.2 , my phone don’t want to upgrade .

  • ma2oliveira

Noticed the 236 update yesterday here in Brasil. Z1 model.
    So far, no differences.

  • Anton Papin

You should replace your battery, bro. It is hardware issue.

  • Cesta Sol2

    nice model
