Little bit off topic, but is the Z4 Tablet still a decent purchase? I’ve had the Tablet Z for a couple of years and would love to upgrade! (Sorry for butting in!)

  • haxona

The difference in memory usage is huge from the other update.

Same set of apps installed and running in the background but on the previous update I was always on 2.6GB on this version its down at 1.7-19GB out of the 2.7GB usable.

Huge difference as I said which is very welcomed

  • Viali17

It’s a fantastic tablet, great battery, thin, super light.
I upgraded from tablet Z to Z4 with LTE a few months ago, I don’t think you will regret it.

I am just wondering why they didn’t push the new ui in this update : are they going to make a different between Z and X series by developing another fresh ui to one and letting the other with the old shit ? I hope not cause one of my main reasons for being a sony fan is they always push the newer software to all of it’s devices such as the case in XZ/XZ1/XZ2/XZ3/XZ3+ ( in LP ) , hope they will not lose this feature :

  • QBerto

Hope Z3+ dual get update soon, last update makje the phone unusable

  • Innosaint Nwoke

Even up till now I still can’t afford this tablet. To make it worse the tab wasn’t released in India so there’s no hope of getting a used one… It’s so frustrating.

  • It seems to have forgotten the dual

  • jag

Does it have the tap to sleep feature?

  • Matt

If you got the money get pixel c ;)

  • hansip

Sure, the SoC is good for a giant devices.. and the prospect of Android N surely will bring the best out of a tablet.

  • Saiful Islam

Is there any chance for z3 plus dual series releasing soon? What sony says?

  • Sadman Khan

I was really hoping for the X UI as well. Sony always updates their latest devices a bit late but they always add goodies from the new lineup :(

  • Sadman Khan

Nah apparently Pixel C’s software isn’t optimised at all. On the other hand, tab Z4 is very good on the software side. Plus it’s waterproof and has great battery life

  • Eduardo Otero

The update should get your Z3+ soon as it has got Z5 Dual series.

  • Emil Oskarsson

I think it will come in a newer update :) Maybe not while on marshmallow but Android n is around the corner you know :)

  • Shakeel Mohammed

Z3+ dual update rolling out for selected countries

  • haxona

Everything you saw in the Z5 update is in, however i cant answer that specific question since I am in the Home beta and I have had this feature for a month. But if I would guess then yes

  • haxona

I am almost sure they will update it with all the goodies the Z5 gets since they are basically on the same hw system. As for Z3 I think its a bigger risk of a no but I still think the next update will be a big one and the last one for the Z3

  • Matt

    Well, the Internet says that.

Pixel c is currently the best battery live on tablet. And sure will get longer support than z4 tablet, besides what lead me to buy it over z4 tablet is the screen ratio. Not an 16:10 display nor 4:3 is huge for me

is this update sony bring home screen rotation features?? previously have in lollipop.

  • The Elektronac

    Source please?

  • Sean Crockenberg

It’d just be nice to feel that Sony supports the XTZ4. Still on lollipop, awaiting delayed roll-out through Telstra. Does it address the screen response. I have to reatart to obtain touch sensitivity.
Also to have the what new app mapped for landscape; for use when the keyboard is attached.

  • Matt

Let’s update our old phone with our new flagship ui. Says every manufacturer ever.. . .

Sony usually did. But I don’t really care the ui is vanilla enough for me

Just another update Telstra won’t send out to us Z4 Tablet owners.
Still stuck on 5.0.2 build number 28.0.A.8.260.

I have had mine for over a year now, and with the marshmallow update its became super speedy :) Awesome battery life aswell especially when watching movies/tv series (my record is 21h with on screen time, about 40-60% brightness then). Im really happy with it even if it did cost me about 550 euros for the wifi version at release. Hopefully we will see a new tablet from Sony soon, but it doesnt look like that right now :(

  • Emil Oskarsson

Sure about that? Take Nexus 4 for example, it did get android 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2, 4.4.4, 5.0.2 and 5.1.1. Same thing for the first Xperia Z line :)

well its my word against yours :D

  • Emil Oskarsson

Yeah sure the Xperia z1 should have gotten Android 6.0.1 for sure that was a strange move from Sony. Still they are one of the best manufacturers when it comes to updates outside the Nexus range :)

  • Matt

    yes to that

well, after this update my z3+ is heating up at any and every big or small usage. battery is draining out really really fast. not even lasting for 4-5 hours

  • QBerto

“around the corner” lemme HAHA a little

there are “marshmallow beta” and u think we will get N soon?

and… as ontopic, the UI of the devices is not always updated, personally I don’t like that lockscreen on Xperia X, so I hope doesn’t come to older ones….
and this update have some new things as home and settings, so I don’t think we will get more of the new generation

  • 3_nity

Rooling now for Z3+ dual in Indonesia.

  • jag

It does have the tap to sleep feature. This is the first thing I checked when I got the update last saturday But I’m still not used to it though haha!

  • Avinash Bhargavan

Thank u Sony, finally for solving the Bluetooth issue, no more Bluetooth stuttering, feeling much better quality…..

  • Richard Krajewski

My Z5 battery life absolutely went into the toilet after this upgrade. I have restarted. I have cleared the cache several times. I have done everything aside from a reset. This has made my phone lose 90% of it’s charge in the space of 6 hours with the screen being mostly off. Not happy!

Will the Z2 atleast get the Stamina mode back or is Sony already done with Z2 and older series? Also, can I expect Android N on the Z3 atleast?

  • Saikat Pradhan

    any one??? have this answer??

  • Domus

So nice news!! Just received the update notification! Seems that with 6.0.1 version all known bugs are fixed…and system it’s more fluid (camera too).

I’m happy user of Xperia Z4 (Z3+) even if processor in some case still it reaches high temperatures, even if not influence the stability of the system, that seems go well.

With this firmware update, more stability and fluidity improvement are released.

Thanks Sony, xperia Z series rules….

Now, just a curiosity: when Sony think to update the Xperia M4 Aqua??? My GF ‘s M4 Aqua Dual still on lollipop 5.0 with a lot of bugs and heavy and slow system … it was expected to upgrade to marshmallow, but when??

  • Domus

Yes, where you read this info? My GF’s M4 Aqua Dual still on 5.0 ….

  • cristian06yxtl

How about dialer? Still loading every time when open to make a call??

  • Ates

On 6.0.1 heating is solved…but how???
You must have brightness on 30-40% with adaptive brightness on, nfc, location…. turn off..and most important, when you want to record video use HD (1280*720) heating is minimal like other phones. For all other things definitely heating is solved becouse you must on task manager shutt off all backround apps always when you want do something hard…facebook, surfing on 4G and others common thing.
