  • joseph carmine nero

And they call Sony slow.show me a samsung phone with 7.0 update

  • Liam Hethershaw

Well, it did take until february for marshmallow….. and i think the same for lollipop and kitkat….

  • joseph carmine nero

overall Sony is on par with most of OEMs. AP and phonearena ignore other OEMs while bitching about Sony being slow

  • kewldoode

I have the 39.2.A.0.328 version. Runs great and steady.

  • Salah-Eddine Afifi

I was waiting for a Xperia XZ Update at first place :'(

  • RockStar2005

Can’t they just say WHEN it’s actually being released? I thought it was October but now it’s almost December. lol

  • raju

    Next one

  • kewldoode
  • William Tavares

    Google > Motorola > LG > HTC > Sony > Samsung.

  • William Tavares

One thing for sure, camera’s still crap.

  • kewldoode

    Why do you think so?

  • William Tavares

Just look at the picture, a flagship phone that has a terible camera when compared to budget phones like Nexus 5X.

  • Jacky

manufacturers don’t show their timeline to the public anymore, because of the delays for kitkat and lollipop LOL…

  • RockStar2005

    lol yeah probably.

Someone on XDA told me it should hit the U.S. in a few days. Hopefully he’s right!

  • Jacky

Yah they always roll out to US within the first week to test things out. I used to have a US model of ZR but now with my Hong Kong version of Z5 things got slower. Probably due to additional testings…

  • RockStar2005

They always do? Oh ok. I thought knowing how much Sony Mobile “loves and cares for” its U.S. customers that we’d be DEAD last. lol

    Yeah probably.

  • hansip

LG? Kidding right? i believe Samsung > LG as the appendix.

  • SSyar

Unsubscribing from XperBlog feed,, been Sony user since SE-K750 now moving to Huawei Honor 8.,

  • Emil Oskarsson

Finally, will check later today if I can update it now, received that rotation bug update a week ago and soon I can get the taste of nougat, bless you Sony! Btw last update on marshmallow made all the small lags I had before to dissappear! :)

  • Dalip Grewal

Sony xperia c5 rec nouget update

  • razorg

Wow! I’m so excited to see screenshots of this update. Because, eventually what’s been done to XP now will be brought to our Z5 series devices :)

  • Mahesh

I think photo was not taken properly or with proper mode. This can’t be taken with a flagship. I use Z2 & I can assure you that.

  • Mahesh

Last week of October. You can say a month late.

  • RockStar2005

    And I will! lol

    Still, I LIKE this:

The update brings Nougat features that were previously not on Marshmallow such as native support for split-screen windows, some new options in the Sony Camera viewfinder, improved touch sensitivity, auto rotation bug fix (before the patch was released), and improved Stamina mode for extending battery life.

    Yes but something may vary

  • Dilipkumar

    Post screenshots

  • Dilipkumar

Will z5 get xperia XZ UI in nougat update.?

  • haxona

Kind of disappointed I have to wait for my XZ to get an update. That felt a bit sour :/

  • Bullcrap, LG hasn’t even clarified whether they will update LG G4 to 7.0.

  • razorg

Most probably. Every Xperia device gets updated UI (or you can call this the Xperia Home version) regularly. But I am not sure if they will bring the “trademark” features of newer devices such as the “sliding unlock animation from the X series” to Z5, but apart from that the Xperia Home is the same around the device lineup with the same Xperia Home version….

  • Lorenzo Cianchelli

yes…it’s absourd. Expecially when it should have been around october .

  • Atanas Vangelov

do you have shutter speed & focus sliders in manual mode?

  • SonyMan

The fact that it started rolling out so soon makes me think that the update is half baked. I won’t be complaining if it started seeding Z5 series next month or at January, but as a Z5P user I was hoping for a full nougat update like s7 edge is getting. Options to choose the native resolution through settings, the ability to play 4k on YouTube and so on. Know I’m sure we will only be getting basic features. Just hope the multi window will work as it should and mini apps integrated within it. Nice to be so soon though from Sony compared to kitkat, lollipop and marshmallow that took a lot longer.

  • twm

Impressive if it really has the usual sony level of software quality.

  • Zayed Kotayba

I hope that Xperia Z5 Premium gets it the next month and by the way could anybody tell us if there is any changes from official Marshmallow interm of SONY interface and apps?

  • Ana Helušić

    No

  • XperiaBlog

Cool – you should have got in touch a week ago then!

  • Wilhelm-Bernhard Trometer

Nice for X performance users that at least they got the nougat update but i think my xz which still runs on 6.01 and with security patch from 1 july should get a better threatment becourse the xz is sonys absolutly best device i have been waiting for november security update since 2 weeks now and there is now sign of that the nordic countries will see that update i check everyday on xperia check com if there is an update availlibly i hope that sony dos nt forgett the nordic countries

  • Lorenzo Cianchelli

Where did you take it ?

  • Lorenzo Cianchelli

    Where did you download it?

  • I still have to get in Italy the security update for X Compact that came out 3 or 4 weeks ago.. I don’t even want to think about when I’ll get Nougat.

  • So0o

Why x performance and no XZ??? Wtf Sony ???? Every flagship phone have the first update… Only to Sony the last update is coming to 1 year old phone(x performance) …, :) ✌

  • Daniel Johanzon

when I received a reply from Sony so I got the answer to 7.0 is four quarters, Q4 = 1 October to 31 Decembe, so in December it will what they have written me ill in Sweden

  • Darni187

Did I miss something but the flagship of 2016 is Sony XZ so why X performance first???

Maybe they testing the update on the X first lol so XZ does not not get any bugs..

  • William Tavares

LG always update their flagship phone before the end of the year since G2. V20 and G5 already have Nougat.
Samsung always update flagship phone on next year.
G4 isn’t a flagship anymore I bet you know that.
Sony hasn’t clarified when Z5 will receive 7.0. Samsung hasn’t clarified when S6 will receive 7.0. HTC hasn’t clarified when M9 will receive 7.0 given the fact that M10 it’s being update, and so on.
Welcome to Android world friend enjoy your stay.

This is another slap in the face to XZ owners

Is it the same software as last Xperia Beta software? It is the same build, I guess https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/685f811479a7fc34453d22c9c25afdcf1bb3cfbef45a9eddb04d39ee20f34be4.png

  • Mahesh

    Awesome man!

  • the_black_dragon

Why? Let X Perf User Beta-Test software and we will get it as soon as it is stable :D

  • the_black_dragon

Less sold X Perf, so smaller user group as test rollout > XZ will get it short after as soon as the rollout does not show issues. Common tactics from sony and some other manufacturers

  • Android 7.0 (Nougat) update for Xperia devices

Sony Mobile will make the Android™ version 7.0 (Nougat) available for the following Xperia™ models:

    Xperia™ XZ
    Xperia™ XZ Dual SIM
    Xperia™ X Compact
    Xperia™ XA Ultra
    Xperia™ XA Ultra Dual SIM
    Xperia™ XA
    Xperia™ XA Dual SIM
    Xperia™ X Performance
    Xperia™ X Performance Dual SIM
    Xperia™ X
    Xperia™ X Dual SIM
    Xperia™ Z5
    Xperia™ Z5 Dual
    Xperia™ Z5 Compact
    Xperia™ Z5 Premium
    Xperia™ Z5 Premium Dual
    Xperia™ Z4 Tablet
    Xperia™ Z3+
    Xperia™ Z3+ Dual.

Z3+/Z4 and Z5 aren’t *current* flagships anymore either, but Sony has stated that they will update them to 7.0
Sony actually provides their customers with some info on what devices they will update, whereas LG hasn’t said a peep.

I think that’s worth considering and mentioning.

Personally, I prefer OEMs taking their time when delivering major updates. More time for refining the software and fixing bugs that inevitably come with every iteration of Android.

  • the_black_dragon

Security Patch state is 1. November on my XZ… check for updates or complain to your provider

  • Who said it should’ve been around October? Leaked unconfirmed presentation that was supposedly made by Sony?

updating z3+,z4 to android 7 is normal process these are new phones one in may 2015 and the other one in october 2015 and they should get future updates too if they wont get future updates i wont buy another sony in the future.

  • deekbee

I have a Z5C; that was supposed to be a flagship camera on release, and it has never lived up to the original claims.

  • Khillo81

I don’t think he was talking about betas ;)

  • Matt

if you wnat an update right away, there is a phone called google pixel.

otherwise sit still and it will come, your phone is new.

  • Sony tried updating Z3 series to 7.0, but Google pulled the plug on any SoC before SD805 iirc.
So, judging from past experience, if Z3+/Z4 (the same phone, different region branding) doesn’t get updated further than 7.0, it’s probably Google again, caring more about selling more new Android smartphones than updating previous flagships with new iterations of Android.

    It’s just business.

  • hansip

On Xiaomi now, but i will switch to Sony if budget allows and/or XZ price come down significantly.

  • So0o

Nevermind…. Xz is the last flagship…. În this case.. the z5 will be the second who recive the 7.0 :)

  • Saifuddin Adnan

Can anyone tell me whether this update include manual focus and shutter speed in camera like the one’s in xperia xz?

  • HawkMan79

You mean with random black screen lockups, software freezes and slowdowns, camera that applies a ridiculous amount of terrible noise reduction algorithm to pictures causing noise reduction artifacts, over heating, and other standard sony issues since Z3 and on.

  • Scooba Mallary

It’s not available on my phone, but when I plug into the Xperia Companion, it begins downloading the update. Unfortunately, our internet at work is SLOW AF. But I’ll have it within the hour! I have the Hong Kong version, dual SIM, but I’m in the US.

  • vmxr

well then switching from android going to be my decision in the future we will see what will happen

  • Lorenzo Cianchelli

A staff member of the sony support forum too.

  • joseph carmine nero

    It’s beta though.

  • Link please.

  • Scooba Mallary

Well, I THOUGHT I was about to update. When I plugged into the Xperia Companion, it began downloading the update. The nothing happened after I waited a good hour. I restarted the Xperia Companion, but then it said that my phone was up to date and didn’t say the update was available anymore.
I have the Hong Kong version, dual SIM, but I’m in the US.

  • Shamoy Rahman

You’ll get it in a few days. Don’t worry. You can use XperiFirm if you want to update it manually right now.

  • HAWX

S7 series on October 1. 7.0 beta is available and It is updated 2 times already, although it came later than Sony’s beta.

  • Shamoy Rahman

And they call Sony slow at updates?…

Sony’s getting faster and faster every year. Last year they took almost 6 months to release the update for all flagships. This year it took them only 3 months. That means Sony is beginning to understand Android better and they are learning to better optimize and speed up their update process through experience. I’m actually sad I won’t be able to upgrade to the XZ this year, it was really a lot better than the 3 rounds of fail phones (Z3+, Z5, X/X Performance) and is the first best flagship since the Z3. Hopefully I’ll be getting the 2017 Q1 Xperia flagships as they’ll come with Nougat by default, 4GB of RAM, and a new and better camera sensor with better camera software.

  • Shamoy Rahman

That’s a beta and not an official update.

  • Shamoy Rahman

No, its not really that, I feel like Sony from past experience has learned how to speed up the update process without compromises, they have gotten more efficient at creating good firmware updates. I also think another reason is that Android 7.0 has not changed as much from 6.0, most of the AOSP source code remains very similar.

  • Scooba Mallary

It’s just weird that it said that it was available and started to download.

  • HAWX

Yes, but within the bug fixes, it’s UI has changed according to user feedback, and some new features are added. Choice is free.

  • HAWX

And it freaking overheats in basic tasks lel.

  • Paul

That photo appears to be altered from the camera original. The file size is only about half of what it should be and all the EXIF data has been stripped.

  • kewldoode
  • Dilipkumar

I m a z5 user. I m requesting Sony to release a Camera lens protector to save camera from scratches. This much year this problem never solved. These defects occurring in all xperia devices.
If anyone know solution pls tell.

  • As you will see in the comments on google+ the X has had Nougat for weeks from the Sony Concept team
    https://plus.google.com/+XperiaBlog/posts/g8QJF6Ukksm

  • Wilhelm-Bernhard Trometer

d google pixel is to expensive and not better then xz here i the nordic countries the price normal google pixel is above 1000 us dollar the xz is much cheaper and the better choice . Today i called to xperia care and they told me that the xz will get nougat update togther with november security patch in december sometimes it helps to digg abit deeper

  • Tochi Nwodu

    They better

  • Will this work on regular X model?

  • Zero-21XX

_-_ Yes!! and will work on xperia Z3 Z3+ and Z5 series

  • Moisés

    No..
    Different firmware..

    Same firmware for same hardware.
That’s how they plan on updating the devices.

    X Performance/Xz
    X/ X compact
    Z5p/z5/z5c/z3+/z4 tablet
    Xa/xa ultra

    I have no idea if m4, m5, c4, c5 and e5 will ever get N.
E5 should because it was released in june I guess.

  • Moisés

    Z4 is not bad…
Z5 was the best of 2015

  • Shamoy Rahman

That’s either the Xperia Z5 or an older Xperia, that was so last generation. The new big boy is the XZ and it shows how much Sony has stepped its game up.

yeah, Xiaomi and Zuk Z2 were my other two consideration,, but when Honor signed with XDA and releases Nougat Beta ,, and on BlackFriday H8 was of only 290$ with lot of goodies so i took H8

  • Hanzubou

Ah…I wonder when my Z3+ will receive Nougat…., hopefully Sony can both optimize Nougat and Snapdragon 810 while not too overheat, would love to see its pinnacle in benchmarking

  • RockStar2005

So it’s not just from the kindness of their hearts?? lol

  • razorg

Do you have to be such a troll? The guy obviously didn’t know the technical difference between an X and an X Performance. And to be honest, with devices being physically exactly the same, an inexperienced person would easily question this possibility. Try holding on to your “humanity” before going around, humiliating people, ok?

  • Jacky

I sometimes see it that way actually lol. I do miss being one of the first ppl to get the update. Major markets like Taiwan and Hong Kong need to wait at least additional 2-4 weeks :(

  • HawkMan79

And I was talking about Sony. These are all Sony issues, in fact Samsung, which I despise have had far less issues than the Z3 and Z5 series has had. and I seriously regret giving them another chance when I had to rpelace my Z3 instead of going for a samsung. at least then I’d have a decent camera, battery time and wouldn’t burn my fingers from running simple non 3D apps.

  • Khillo81

Uh huh. Of course they had. I have yet to meet a Samsung Galaxy Sx owner who was happy with their phone. But you go ahead and buy one. May I suggest the Note 7? You seem you can handle it.

  • HawkMan79

It’s almost like the flood of threads on XDA and sony forums abotu the issues on the Z3 and Z5 series of phones don’t exist….

The Note 7 had battery issues and was recalled because of it. Meanwhile all the samsung phones I’ve tested have all worked better than any Sony phone I have used, unless you count the original Xperia S and Z1’s in comparison to samsung phones of the same era. my stepfather replaces his Z2 that was a total nightmare with a mid end Samsung, happy as can be.

I tried writing a reply to this on my Z5. but the keyboard and writing on the web lagged so bad I gave up. before I started burning my fingers.

and I haven’t even gotten to the bad GPS and BT signals…

You can’t just ignore and pretend the laundry list of issues with all the Z3* and Z5* phones don’t exist because your favorite brand is Sony. And I have given sony enough of my trust to ever trust them again. The Z3 was supposed to have the heat issues fixed and a top of the line camera. niope overheats and crashes all the time, camera was shit in real use with to much smoothing and artifacts from it. Z5 same promises and supposed to have fixed all heat issues… nope.. camera is the same shit as the Z3 and heat issues is at least as bad if not worse. among all the other issues. issues that are not unique to just my Z5 and not just the Z5 base model, but all of them.

  • Khillo81

I have better things to do than argue with a person who may or may not even own an Xperia. All I can say is that I have a Z5C and zero issues until now. You can buy whatever phone you want.

  • Nokoribi

My Sony Xperia XZ just updated to nougat a few hours ago.

  • Moisés

    Those benchmarks are weird.
Mine is still on 5.0.2, my own choice and I got 81645 an antutu.

  • HawkMan79

I’m showing concrete exampels of issues I’ve had with my old and existing Sony phones, and your “mature” response is “I don’t want to listen to you”… is this kindergarten ?

and the reason your z5c has less issues is because it has a clocked down last gen SD810 SoC. But knowing how many issues the previous Sony 810 models had, I don’t believe it has close to no issues.

  • Hanzubou

Mine’s already 6.0.1(Brand New In Box), antutu got 89356 first(placing it in a freezer), got 89678(also in freezer), and newest one 90735(also freezer but i let it in the freezer first in a minute or more before initiating test), hope to achieve better in Nougat

  • Moisés

I like the phone, mine is white. I wanted the copper one, not available here nor aqua green.
Only black and white dual sim.

I can see the environmental temperature changes how z3+ works.
It gets warmer and kinda agressive during hot days. It is better when it is cold.
Even with two firmware against overheating my battery reaches 103F degrees.
No cam issues for me. Only once in 8 months.

  • Hanzubou

    Mine’s Aqua Green(Dual sim)….looks beautiful…
every phone works better at cold area(and battery lasts longer), no exception for Z3+
as much as i hate overheating phones, i want to see overheating phones utmost power with the help of freezer :p,
why not upgrade to MM? it’s (probably) better regarding battery and heats

  • http://www.paykasabozdurmaa.com/ ne çok konuşuyosunuz

  • Moisés

    Hi.. Thanks for answering.
I am jobless at the moment. Lot of people uptade to new version of SO and have many issues.
If something bad happens to mine, i can not buy a new one..
I paid something like US$ 550 in march.
I was going to get a M4, but z3+ was 30% off on that day, cheaper than z3.

Here z3 came 2700,00. Z3+ for 3000, than z5 4300,00.. This value is our money.

In Brazil all smartphones are very expensive.
Z5 Premium came US$ 1450. It is less than 500 in USA.
    Xperia X came more than US$ 1000.

S7 Edge, LG G5 SE , iphone 7… All come more than US$1000

And I also had issues with Sony’s costumer service here. I sent my Xperia C to chance its back, made of plastic.
    It came back with issues.
    I got my money back.
They have bad after sale here.

  • Moisés

    Another thing…
    How long does battery last?
It is almost impossible to get 6 hours of screen.
    No matter how I use..
If I only browse on internet, it goes down to 1% in no more than 370 min.

  • HawkMan79

After the Z3 and Z5 series disasters, I don’t see why anyone would still give Sony their trust and money, especially with them still sticking with the SD SoC’s. I don’t like Samsung, but at least here in europe I can get their phones with Exynos, which is also faster and don’t come plagued with issues, slowdowns, freezes, over heating and throttling.

  • Bashar Shehab

XZ is already receiving the update

  • Scooba Mallary

Which region am I waiting for if I have the dual-sim model from Hong Kong, but I’ve only ever activated/used it in the US? Will I get updates when Hong Kong or the US gets them? Or am I in some overlooked niche that doesn’t follow either? Carrier/operator don’t apply, because no U.S. carrier got it.

Is there a way to “trick” the phone? Like searching for an update while using a VPN for a region that already got it?

  • Zero-21XX

    ok u0u …

  • azzido

    First X poorformance?
Why not XZ??? Always it was newest flagship, not to mention XZ is the only flagship of 2016… Forget the flop poorformance.

What a coincidence, my 2 years 9 months phone is Xperia C, wanted a Z5 but decided to go for Z3+ cuz of finansial problems(and Nougat update high possibility), also I don’t buy through a carrier nor any smartphone selling company Sony partnered with, i bought from a gray market seller, I got Z3+ for around US$295 while if i buy through a carrier it would roughly cost me US$481

I don’t know, never tried to calculate, might try later

Same on xz side. Get error message ” read only 4xxx from 700xxx mb…” flash android 6 on xz no Problem but 7 impossible. Seems that flashtool is to old?

  • zhiyong leong

yes it seems that the flashtool needs to be updated. other users in xda reported the same error

    Settings> energy managment>battery use

Click on screen % , you can see how many hours it has been On..

  • Hanzubou

I use it for gaming for half an hour every few hours, so i don’t get many screen on, also i use stamina mode all the time cuz of power hungry the game is, but i’ll do a test where i watch looped video on youtube until battery reaches less than 20% or even less (wi-fi, no stamina mode, 50% brightness, 720p or 480p(internet here sucks, to be exact my speed sucks :p cuz i pay the lowest price)) my Z3+ is almost 3 weeks old(?) so i should be able to test it at the best possible

There was a Beta Program for X Performance. And when it started XZ was not for sale yet.

If I were responsible for Sony Mobile I would bring a second generation of XP and XZ in 2017, only in September during IFA. Different focus each device.
    X Performance 2 and XZ 2.

X Performance 2 : snapdragon 835, 6gb ram, 64gb (single and dual, not hybrid) , 5″ full hd, usb c, 23mp/13mp (both full hd videos) IP65/68, 3100 mAh and all Sony good stuff they use already.

XZ 2 : snapdragon 835, 5gb ram, 128gb( single and dual, not hybrid), 5.2″ UHD, usb c, 25mp/16mp ( 4k video for both), IP65/68, 3890 mAh and all good stuff Sony already uses.

X Performance more powerful, XZ the premium cellphone with better display, better audio, better camera, better battery , more storage.
