in Firmware, Xperia X series

volte-xperiaSony Mobile has released a new firmware update for the Xperia X Android Concept, which adds the previously announced VoLTE compatibility. Firmware build number 38.1.A.0.367 adds VoLTE for a number of Germany’s biggest carriers including Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica/02. Other carriers will follow suit from the UK and Spain.

Other changes include the 5 November 2016 Google Security patch which fixes the ‘Dirty Cow’ exploit. There is also a camera fix for those that experienced crashes with unlocked bootloaders. The latest Xperia Home version (10.2.A.1.16) is also included that fixes the problem regarding icon packs. The update should be rolling for all those on the Concept programme running the experimental track.

  • Hi, We XperiaOverlay released our fourth version of our system.
This new release v4.0 bring android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the Xperia X firmware as a base for these devices : Sony Xperia SP, Xperia V, Xperia T, TL, TX.

We are also doing final stability tests on the Xperia L and M ( single SIM and dual SIM)
the firmware will be released this month.

We will also extend the firmware to more devices next month, including :
    Xperia S, SL, ION, Xperia Z, Z1, Z1 Compact , and the Xperia M2.

The firmware brings also the android 6.0.1 internal memory management feature that are not present in the manufactured firmwares of android 6.0.1 by Sony, Samsung etc…

that option allows to use the SD card as internal memory with that feature inside, it makes more sense than ever for all these older devices to be updated since the lack of internal memory is no longer an issue.

We also made our oldest firmwares v2.2 (Kitkat for Xperia 2011 line ) and V3.5 ( Lollipop 5.0.2 for 2012 / 2012 line of xperia devices) Free

here are the threads on XDA :
    V2.2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799730
    V3.5 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-overlay-2012-2013-line-5-0-2-t3513338

PS : Note that the payd version is not releated to the firmware but to the Xperia Overlay Update Center APP for Windows and Linux
and the server unlimited download posibility since its a direct link, and can be downloaded any moment by connecting to the user acount

Pleas make the Xperia community informed of our hard work and dedication whe showed during these years

Have a nice and pleasant day

Kindly also release Volte Update for xperia xa

VoLTE uses the same data network as video streaming or browsing the web?

  • LPX

VoLTE is for “Voice over LTE”. It enables voice calls at LTE network. Nowadays when you’re at LTE network, to make a phone call your smartphone switches network to 3G/2G.

I have something question for about Sony Xperia SP C5303
On that V4.0 will able the move apps to SDCard?
How much RAM free space while restarted? (On stock i get around 430MB~390MB with restarted)
Does better performance than stock? (example: camera, games)

  • Sebi

Actually, VoLTE is already included in the Android N Update for Xperia XZ (at least here in Germany). https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/df3b4d06c4f39defeb61b26576b2fe3afcb997e27846844dd95a9e2f5aa5a96b.png

    Hello,

Can you post the Android version that you have, I own an XZ that I bought in Germany and updated with nougat and don’t have the LTE Icon option. My XZ is running the German Generic ROM, not a ROM from any carrier.

Thank you in advance for your help
    NB

  • Sebi

Hi, I also have the generic ROM. My service provider is O2. Maybe that is the reason. :)

  • Nuno

Thanks for the picture, I have been waiting for VoLTE here in the States for a long time, hope they develop it for us as well. According to your reply you have an unlocked Xperia XZ with the Generic German ROM? I have the same and actually my Xperia came from Germany, but do not see the “use VoLTE” toggle switch, not sure that is only available when you have a sim card from the same country as the ROM.

    Thank you for your help,

    NB

  • Sebi

Oh, maybe I misunderstood something. I bought and use my XZ here in Germany but did not unlock it or something like that. :)

  • Nuno

Is your phone carrier unlocked or you bought it from O2?? I bought mine on Amazon Germany that is the reason why mine is unlocked, i can use any carrier i want.

  • Sebi

Ok, I bought mine on Amazon Germany as well and can use whatever carrier I want. So yes, it is unlocked after your definition. :) However, I use a German SIM card from O2. This might be the reason why I can see the VoLTE option as this carrier is also mentioned in the blog post above.
