One of the biggest selling points of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc is its 8.1MP Exmor R camera sensor. Rikard Skogberg from the SE Product Blog has given a detailed run through on the improvements that the sensor brings. One of the biggest that Sony Ericsson has worked on is minimising the speed between taking photos, demonstrated in the video below.
The back-illuminated Exmor R sensor that is used in the phone means much more sensitivity when shooting low-light photos and video. Sony Ericsson says that the light sensors are moved in front of the “wiring” connecting the individual photo diodes together, making it more light sensitive.
The camera is started by pressing the dedicated camera button, bringing up a new user interface. The settings pane is seen on the left, whilst recently taken photos are shown on the right. To dig down into the options you simply swipe from left-to-right to access the settings or the opposite if you want to see a wider selection of photos. The video can be seen below and it’s worth noting that it was also taken on an Xperia arc.
