There’s been quite a bit of Sony Ericsson Xperia ray news over the last day or so. First up is the news that the Xperia ray has passed through the FCC, normally a precursor before a phone lands in the United States. As well as the usual teardown photos and manual, the data also revealed that the handset will be compatible with AT&T’s WCDMA bands.
Whilst we don’t know whether the Xperia ray will see a US release, we know that it will be landing in the UK. It looks like the handset will launch in September according to Three UK and The Carphone Warehouse, a month later than play.com had it pegged for. Also check out a hands-on video of the handset from GSM Arena which shows the UI. What’s most impressive is that the 480 x 854 pixel resolution is retained given the small 3.3-inch display. This means it has a 297ppi not that far off the iPhone 4 (326ppi). Check out the video below.
