Xperia arc and Xperia neo discontinued in UK; Xperia arc S and neo V now flying the flag

It appears that Sony Ericsson has discontinued the Xperia arc and Xperia neo models in the UK in favour of the more recent variants, the 1.4GHz Xperia arc S and 5MP Xperia neo V. We recently spoke to a T-Mobile representative who confirmed that both handsets had been discontinued. In fact looking at all five of the major UK mobile networks, only Orange is still stocking the Xperia arc and Xperia neo. However, this stock is only likely to last a limited time. Most of the other carriers are now stocking the Xperia arc S and/or the Xperia neo V as an alternative.

Looking at the sim-free retailers, Clove has discontinued notices on its listing for both the Xperia arc and Xperia neo. This isn’t so much of an issue for the Xperia arc S, after all its identical to the arc (including price) and comes with a 1.4GHz processor instead of 1GHz on the original.

However, this is more problematic for those wanting the Xperia neo, arguably the best all-rounder of the 2011 Xperia range, both in terms of price and functionality. Most places only stock the Xperia neo V which comes with a weaker 5MP camera, as opposed to the neo which had a 8MP Exmor R camera sensor. We don’t know whether this situation is being repeated in other regions around the world, however we wouldn’t be surprised.
