CM9 XperiaJust before Christmas, the FreeXperia development team released an early alpha version of CyanogenMod 9 for Xperia arc users. CM9 is based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and gives users a close-to-stock Android experience versus the Sony Ericsson skinned ROM.

The FreeXperia team have been hard at work as CM9 (FXP103) is now available on the rest of the 2011 Xperia range. CM9 alpha hit the Xperia ray at the same time as the Xperia arc, but we missed it at the time. The camera is not working across any of the ROMs and GSM data is also buggy. The CM9 version for the Xperia PLAY also has Wi-Fi disabled (this will be fixed in FXP104). Apart from that most features seem to be working, although don’t expect a silky smooth experience.
