It looks like the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body are at it again revealing the marketing names of upcoming Xperia handsets. They recently outed the Sony ST25i ‘Kumquat’ as the Xperia U and now they claim that the LT22i ‘Nypon’ will be called the Xperia P on release. If true, it looks firmly that Sony will be adopting a single letter marketing approach for all of its 2012 global Xperia handsets. It also follows the Tablet P and Tablet S nomenclature of Sony’s Android tablets.
The Sony Xperia LT22i ‘Nypon’ is expected to look very similar to the Xperia S, carrying the same Iconic Identity design but will have a 4-inch qHD display and use a ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset (1GHz dual-core). It is also believed to carry an 8MP Exmor R camera sensor. We expect both the Xperia P and Xperia U to be announced next month at MWC in Barcelona.
